Let us separate the Men from the Boys…
SAGADAN SA SAGADA
October 29 – 31, 2006
As we have planned initially, Sagada was just an option to the long ride that everyone was irking for. Many have seconded my suggestion, since my brother has been there, I was just curious what was in that place.
So it was. Sagada.
Harryblurred – Shogun Pro
Podlock (Noel “Dun sa mga Biyenan ko” G.) – GS125
LouieCruz and wifey Mhar – Raider150
Paeng was our fifth, he was with us during most of the ride towards Sagada.
Day 01
04:00am
Olivarez Plaza, Biñan, Laguna
Road: Flat cement/asphalt pavement
Four Souls, One Storm
Olivarez intersection was our meeting place to head on to the Elliptical Road and enter McArthur Hi-way. I arrived at the rendezvous sleepless, since I conditioned my bike rigorously the whole night to avoid any uncalled for mishaps: change oil, clutch cable oiling, side mirror installation after I got my broken clutch holder replaced, tire pressure check, greasing of both axle bearings, brake conditioning, fog lamp aligning, headlamp leveling, bag packing and ubox stuffing.
I ate my breakfast from 711 in less than ten minutes, we said our prayers and left the spot, we cruised on a relaxed pace of 60 to 80kph as LouieCruz spearheaded towards San Pedro, Muntinlupa, Alabang… I took over upon reaching East Service Road, we crossed SLEX at Sucat Interchange to get to West Service road. I felt some raindrops when we reached Pateros nearly entering C5. Louie took the chair of spearheading all the way towards North Avenue while Podlock stayed sweeping.
0500h 10/29 North Avenue, Quezon City.
Road: Flat cement pavement

First stop over to check on responses on how the ride would be executed. The pacing was right according to everyone. So far, no reason to backout. Our spirits are high so is storm Paeng.
After a puff we continued to ride towards Monumento and enter McArthur Hi-way in no time… An hour has passed it is already Bocaue Bulacan. Remembering from our 2006 Holy Week in Baguio, the road there in SM Bulacan was bad as hell: dust and gravel all over, but now it has been finished and well cemented, we passed by the place faster compared than before. It started to drizzle, we covered our bags with raincovers, thanks to Topspeed’s gear for rain… and wore our raincoats to insulate ourselves from rain & also from cold, since it was still early in the morning, the air was dewy. A whole lot of riders passed us as we envied their headcount. But nevertheless, three bikes are easier to watch on convoy. Less than an hour later we had breakfast at Jollibee Pulilan, Bulacan. We ate no less than 30 minutes and geared up again.
Passed by San Miguel, Bulacan

And unnoticingly it was already Nueva Ecija.

Two hours straight we trudged to reach Modular Overrev’s shop in Gapan, NE as Louie paid what he owed, for the clutch pressure disc & the release bearing that he needed to replace which was delivered through LBC. Francis (Modular) even offered merienda, what a sweet gesture from a very respected learned man in terms of bike tuning… He discussed about his views regarding our current set-up with regards to racing and suggested a lot for its improvement, most especially his citation about categorizing all bike classifications and limits for entries. Being specific about it, so that participants can really identify where they are grouped. He’s loud and very confident with what he says, a good learned mechanic whom you can turn to even on most despaired cub trouble. Thanks Sir Francis!

Rain has never stopped from then on, Paeng’s tail is still coming to and fro Nueva Ecija, still with our raingears on, we stopped for cigarette breaks and nature calls.

For an hour and a half we have traveled on cement pavement of San Jose, NE with few cracked slabs, potholes good enough for denting our tires. Drizzling and it was getting colder the minute we go higher.

Guys,
I admire you for this trip. We ride big bikes and sometimes have a hard time to get people willing to take a trip such as this. Keep riding…

GOD SPEED TO ALL OF YOU. i’m a newbie bike rider. i’ve been driving since high school (on four wheels). since then i’ve been dying to have my first motorbike. i also envy those who have their own bikes, expecially the ones who could go places. i just had my first bike (a scooter, 125cc) just barely a month ago. how i wish that i could also do what you have also done. sagada’s a very sacred ground. two thumbs up po sa inyo. hope that on your next ride marami na ang sumama. more power again.
