It’s a busy workday morning when my phone’s rings. It’s ericjym asking for some info on the bicol area as he’s taking some riders to Legaspi for the weekend.
For the rest of the afternoon, the thought of a southern sojourn eats at me like a 19 year old hottie on a lollipop.
If I finish my week’s work by tonight, I can join ride.
I check my work queue and my calendar. The mad rush begins…
Deadlines moved up. Suppliers harassed. I crack the whip and production cranks up. I figure we’ll be done by 3:00am… Time enough for a bath and join the ride…

It’s 2:00am. Work’s done an hour ahead of schedule. I reward my guys giving them some time off in the morning.
“Everyone can come in later at 10am instead of 9am! Rest well people!”
At 4:30am I’m at Shell, C5/J.Vargas. Almost everyone’s there… Randy, Romy, Allan, Willie, Iba, Philip and a nubile young thing seeing off her rider/lover (whose identity will remain in confidence)… The rides were equally impressive with a smattering of 3 letter brands that scream ride satisfaction… BMW, KTM, GRO…
Eric arrives at 5:00am and we’re to rendezvous with another rider, Adi, at Petron SLEX. Then, it’s straight to Lucena for a quick gas stop.
I won’t bore you with the details… Suffice it to say, we reached the Daet-Quirino Highway junction with little drama.
At the junction, the group splits into 2… The adventure trailies take the highway while the laterally obsessed took the Daet route.
For everyone else in the group, this was their 1st time up Daet. The usual advices are dispensed. “Ride your own pace.” “Don’t feel pressured.” “Take it easy on the curves.” “If you see a guy with a gun trying to aiming at you, screw the 1st 3 and just fly!”
I decide to do playtime bursts with designated stops to regroup. Perfect! Everyone’s enjoying their own rides but the group is kept safe and intact.
My last wait point was the 1st Labo junction. As this is already close to Daet, I decided to wave on each passing rider just counting that everyone passed me safely. When the last rider had passed me, I gave chase to play a bit more with what twisties are left ahead. I overtake eric at a right hander.
Just as I clip the apex, BAM! I see white and grey. My head gets knocked backwards and my neck feels a shock of pain. To Eric, it looked like an explosion of feathers coming from my helmet.
Eric and I come to a halt. My 1st words were, “I thought that only happened to planes…”
Boylit 1, Pigeon 0.
The rest of the way to Legaspi was pretty much uneventful.
All were safe… All has fun…
We’re done with r… Now onto mB…
(to be continued)
The next episode will feature:
the mB in Legaspi
breakfast at the beach
the Tabaco-Tiwi Coastal Run
the Bitukang Manok night ride
and much more…
Follow the story here.

Hi I’m kinda looking for people who I could ride with. I have a gsxr 600 and I just want to take it for weekend spin. I used to have ridding buddies but they all sold their bikes so I’m kinda stuck alone. Hope you could help me with this one maybe referals to which group (not necessary a club) that usually rides on weekends? thanks

Karl Mark Claudio,
Our group is not a formal club, we just ride weekends and we normally meet up at Shell C5- corner Julia Vargas Ave, in Pasig on Sunday mornings at 6 am. You are most welcome to join us. You can send me a PM and I can give you my cell phone number.
