ASIA SUPERCROSS Weekend
21
July
The start of the much awaited FIM Asian Supercross launches today with races for the first heat of the nationals on July 21 and tomorrow Sunday July 22, 2007 at the Fast Track Circuit in Upper Bicutan, Taguig City. The Fast Track Circuit, which is just 15 minutes away from the heart of the city, is totally new for most of the 10 country foreign riders thus giving Filipinos a real good hometown advantage in this series organized by the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA) in cooperation with Xtreme Worx Philippines.
The event will also mark the first time in a decade that an international motocross event is being staged in Metro Manila, the last being held in 1997 in Marikina City and the last event in Puerto Princesa City. Mayor Freddie Tinga hailed this event as making Taguig City a landmark and motorsports capital of Metro Manila synonymous with the high tech image of motorsports racing with investments of locators in the City. “ We are privileged to be etched in Philippine Motorsports history by hosting this event in an international accredited racing facility at the Fast Track Circuit, bringing motorsports closer to the fans, press and all aficionados, quipped NAMSSA President Ken Falco. “The uphill and downhill routes, the treacherous narrow turns, the triple jumps, the whoop-de-doos, and the challenging table top will surely put their skills and strategy to test”, says Macky Carapiet, President, FIM Asian Supercross Commission.
The event is supported by City of Taguig, Philippine Sports Commission, Pine Rental, Motorcyclephilippines.Com. Castrol, Bridgestone, JT Triumph, Honda, Pocari Sweat, OZ Racing, Norkis Yamaha, Wildman Sandals, Karcher, YRS, Inside Racing, & Coca Cola.
Watch out for the Honda XRM Mono Make races and the San Mig Light Mountain Bike Challenge on Sunday at noon. The Fast Track Circuit is located in Upper Bicutan, Taguig City in front of the Camp Bagong Diwa and the rear side of the Taguig Hall of Justice Compound. Gen Admission is at P50 on Saturday and P100 on Sunday. For more info you may call 0917 6221765 or www.namssa.org
