CCUBE – Victory Ride to Alaminos

May
December 1, 2005 marks the birth of City Colleges of Urdaneta Bike Enthusiasts, a school based bike group composed of instructors and administrative staff of the institution joined together by one passion – motorcycles. Although CCUBE is in its infancy stage, the group is very active in promoting road safety and extends its helping hand to the needy. After it’s launching during the Urdaneta City Pangasinan City Fiesta, CCUBE pursued its very first outreach program. The group prepared a Christmas party for the orphans of Bahay Kanlungan, a church-based non-government institution that takes care of street children in Pangasinan. For the rest of the afternoon of December 20, 2005, we (the members) became their foster fathers and mothers. It’s quite a satisfying feeling to help the needy specially kids who were left by their parents.
Since the group was school-based, we were obliged yet very willing to participate on school activities. CCUBE was formally introduced into the institution during its 30th Foundation Day Celebration. We joined the very first booth competition opened to faculty and administrative staff members. At first, the group had a hard time conceptualizing what the booth would look like because of the theme – “Treasuring the past, nurturing the future 30 years in the making of CCU.” With all the hardships the final concept was materialized and rewardingly CCUBE Booth garnered the first price in the competition.
At this juncture, the group decided to have a victory ride! First long group ride to Alaminos City Pangasinan. Approximately 100 kilometers away from Urdaneta City, the group assembled at Shell De Guzman station at Urdaneta City and departed 5 in the morning of May 1, 2006. Since it was the group’s first long ride, some adjustments were made. Thanks to MCPF, the group had little difficulty on the road because of the common hand signals. During the ride, the group practiced the hand signals and soon after we get the hold of it a smooth travel was experienced. After an hour, we had our first pit stop and photo stop at Sucony town of Labrador. Afterwards, our trip continues until we reach the City of Alaminos—Home of the natures wonder, Hundred Islands. Twelve kilometers more and we’ve reach our destination, Bolo Beach Resort. We parked our bikes and fixed our cargo inside the cottages. Some of us were designated to watch and take of our belongings while others took care of all the cooking. Past eleven in the morning, the group had our lunch and the rest, swimming and all fun! After every body had enough of the ocean, it was time to pack to lead back home. After a day of fun, everybody were tired yet the spirit and morale were still very high specially when you pass by fellow bikers acknowledging each other by a modest beep on the horn or a wave as one passes the other. It is really a victorious ride for the group! Long live CCUBE!
