Freedom Ride 2 – The Series

Over 5 dozen riders of mixed scooters and underbones joined the Freedom Ride 2(FR2) at NLEX Balintawak toll plaza earlier today.

As expected, the high-spirited, adrenaline pumped Freedom Riders were stopped at Toll Plaza in Balintawak by NLEX motorcycle patrol led by NMTC Patrol Officer Dong Gomez .

Jiggy, one of the advocate of FR2 who spearheaded the group was the first to arrive at the plaza armed with the certified true copy of the Supreme Court decision on the sub-400cc ban. Jiggy pointed to Gomez that the Supreme Court through its latest decision clearly decided in favor of the sub-400, more specifically on scrapping of the previous DPWH Depart Order #74 and #215 .The former reiterated to Gomez that since the ban is now non-existence all highways including NLE may now be safely used by motorcycle of all displacement. Also, Jiggy warned Gomez of a possible filing of case against NMTC patrol who dare issue violation tickets, Jiggy knew that Traffic Adjudication Service (TAS) in the past decided on a similar traffic protest in favor of the rider.

The negotiation/discussion to allow the riders to use the freeway failed and no toll fees were collected but not a single ticket violation were issued.

After nearly 2-hour stand off the riders were led out of NLE by NMTC patrol through a narrow exit towards Baesa.

But Cudos to all the FR2 Riders who stood up for their rights and despite the opposition showed that riders are intelligent orderly civilized citizens as well.

curius lang ako sigurado parehas lang ang ginawa nyo sa SLEX at NLEX pinakita ang mga supporting documents regarding the lifting of the ban, bakit hindi kayo nakapasok bakit sa SLEX nakasok kayo? ano ba sinabi ni Mr Gomez at napapayag na kayo na di tumuloy pumasok? nakiusap ba siya sinbihan ba kayo na titikitan kayo lahat pag pumasok o ano? nagtatanung lang po.

Di nga kami pinapasok, but the message got across –loud and clear. It was expected for the ground officers to act that way(not letting us in) and by FR2 unti-unting nauunawan na ng NMTC(atleast ng mga ground officers), in fact I would say they were very polite and civil in handling the matter.

That's a straight question that requires a straight answer.
Yes I would, anytime, anyday, in my Gmax or Skywave scooter , kahit pa araw-araw nila akong escortan.

Congrats to all the 50+ FR2 riders that attended. More than twice the number of riders last weeks FR2. I gave GMA7 a copy of the Supreme Court Resolution and a short summary of why the sub400 ban is illegal as proclaimed by the Supreme Court twice.

Jiggy, thanks for leading the group and speaking for all of us. I salute you for being a true leader and being so cool while explaining everything to the NLEX Officers and GMA-7.
