Lightbulb how to waterproof your things while riding

rainy days are here and there are times that we need and want to ride even on rains

i just want to start a topic on how we can waterproof our belongings while riding. there have been topics before like raincoats but i want to somehow put it all in a single thread.

things to waterproof:

1. rider (upper and lower part plus shoes)
- a good raincoat plus totes will do

2. bags
- other bags are waterproof already but some are not. i heard from mountaineer friends that there is such a chemical solution that you can spray to your belongings to make it waterproof for some time. now where can we get that stuff?

3. celfone
- there are pockets/duffle bags that can be bought in hardwares that are air tight and waterproof. good for fones plus wallet/some cash also.

what else?

dagdag lang kayo. atleast madaming idea na papasok dito

How about a Garbage bag?

This can be used as a makeshift raincoat for your torso allowing you to avoid hypothermia.

tuck your gloves into your jacket sleeve so that water does not trickle down into the golves.

rem dude,

i recommend zip loc bags, very handy for keeping your stuff dry, lalo wallet and impt papers, pati food. we used them a lot sa up mountaineers so tested na yun.

if you bring a backpack, make sure your jacket is on top of your stuff or in an accessible place para hugot agad pag naabutan ng ulan.

yung sinasabi mong spray, meron yun somewhere pero mahal sobra. di rin sulit kasi pwede rin mabasa. wierd nga eh. baka di kaya sa heavy tropical clime natin.

I pack my work clothes, wallet, cellphone and everything I need for the day inside a plastic bag as compact as it can get (w/o ruining the clothes) and put it in my backpack. I put on a plain shirt, shorts, jacket. If it is a Monday, I include my shoes in the backpack and wear hiking sandals then I leave my shoes in the office until Friday. Mejo matrabaho but it works for me. I have no problems whatsoever.

Just to give an idea, this is the same or similar stuff that is used to spray tents at the seams to prevent water intrusion.

Maybe some outdoor equipment stores such as Coleman has it.
