Problems with motorstar well 125 tune up

Hi, I am a foreigner married to a Filipina and we just bought a second hand Motorstar Well 125, Its a great bike and I have had it for 3 weeks and I put 800 kilometers on it already. I read that every 1000 kilometers should be an oil change and every few months I should get a tune up for the bike. I got the oil change and the next day I got a tune up and thats where my problems began.

After the tune up the throttle was hard. I mean, the resistance on the throttle was quite a bit and I was not able to go from the motorcycle shop to my house (about 300 meters) because the throttle went to full throttle and would not stop so I had to turn the key to turn off the bike. You can imagine this was frighting to say the least. I took the bike to the shop and the mechanic looked at the bike and spent 2 hours trying to fix it. Then I had to leave the bike and commute to work because I cannot be late or I will lose my job. My neighbor picked up the bike later that evening and then he told me the bike was not normal. I thought, what do you mean? I took the bike for a ride and sure enough, The throttle seems to have issues with responsiveness and also I do not have much power. When I get to 3rd gear I have the most power and 4th gear I barely have any power and max speed is about 40KPH.

The carburetor is attached to the throttle and I think the problem is somewhere within the carburetor and throttle assembly because the tune up only disconnected the carburetor and cleaned it and then put it back on the bike.

What should I do? Should I take the bike to the shop again and tell the mechanic to fix it? Do I contact another shop? I feel that since I am a foreigner he is either playing games with me or trying to get money.

I guess I am asking a few questions:

1. Do I bring the bike back to the shop and ask to fix it again?

2. How much should I pay for a tune-up that broke my bike? (I paid 150 but now owe another 150 and the bike is not fixed and the bike was not broken before I took it to the shop)

3. is there anyone near commonwealth that has a shop that could fix my bike and not charge me an arm and a leg to fix?

I appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Take care,

Jason

Re: Problems with motorstar well 125 tune up

Here is the latest update, the mechanic looked at the bike for an hour and said the bike is good now. I just drove home and my motorcycle is still much slower responding to the throttle than before the tune up. I also get a lot of backfires now. I use Shell 97 octane and have not gotten a backfire in the 3 weeks I have had the bike, I still think something is wrong with the throttle assembly and now maybe the mixture due to the backfires.

I gave the bike to the mechanic the other day with a full tank of gas (cost 140 PHP from Shell) and now I have an empty tank and am not sure if I can make it to a gas station (the tank is literally empty) but I will try.

problem is not with your throttle assembly dude. sa carb yan.

my advise, wag mo na ibalik dun. obviously hindi nya kaya. and you should not have paid him. lalo na nung binalik mo. it's a backjob tapos di nya rin naman nagawa.

find a better mechanic dude.

Re: Problems with motorstar well 125 tune up

I was thinking the air fuel mixture is not right. Today, I took the bike to a mechanic in Pasig city that my Volunteer Fire Brigade uses and they told me the spark plug needed to be replaced and I looked at the plug and said ok. Then they did a full tun up on the bike and gave me a discount form the normal price. Then I left but did nto think anything was wrong until my wife and I were on the bike. The bike ran great with just me on it but when my wife was on it with me we had problems. Also, the mechanic in Pasig told me I needed to get a new battery but I simply did not say yes to that.

Here is what happend: I went to Binondo today, then Divisoria, then the bike stalled and it took 2 hours to get it started, then I got it back to Pasig and then it stalled again. Then after a few hours I was able to get it started and my wife and I were able to get home with the bike sputtering and belching like it was grasping for air or as if it had too much air.

Was I screwed over by two different mechanics (one of which is used by just about everyone in my fire brigade that has a motorcycle)?

What shop should I take the bike to?

I am not sure the bike will even start tomorrow morning but I will post and keep everyone informed.

sir Julesjason, why not try to bring your bike to 10th ave. Caloocan, where a motorstar bike shop is located.
