Kumander always wanted the Rouser (it was new then). She just likes everything about it. I explained that CPI GRX 200cc (factory motard) is better choice due to several reasons:
- on and off-road suitability
- rush-hour traffic maneuverability
- significantly lighter, easy to lift front end when necessary
- upright riding position
- high ground clearance (can climb their stairs)
- less-costly if dropped
After presenting my arguments, I won our debate. We got the GRX, installment.
Months later, it was a most logical decision to return it.
- Our business require kilometers of travel for deliveries and other stuff--the GRX had an average fuel consumption of 19 Km/L.
- I emptied two engine oil bottles by constantly refilling engine oil because of a broken neutral switch (chain-slapped), causing oil to drip from the side of the engine. I ordered it 3 months ago, it never came.
I also decided to pursue my goals to be a professional stunt rider, so I need a bike I can fully modify without worrying about the dealer/owner. My first choice was the MCX Renegade 250cc for its specs and all the supermoto perks.
But kumander argued with getting the Rouser. If she wins such debate, her words are obeyed. That's just how decisions are made.
Against MCX 250, her arguments are:
- 50^ Km/L consumption (Renegade is at around 35 Km/L)
- Bajaj/Kawasaki Reputation (compared to China)
- Engine technology
- Eye candy (to her)
- Parts availability
- Service centers
- We can drive it home anytime (Renegade won't be available until May)
Now she has some strong points. I want the Renegade for personal reasons but I may agree with Rouser. I may be blinded by my love for supermoto which is why I can't decide well, so I need your help.
What other buying points should be considered between Renegade 250 and Rouser 220?
In my position, which one would you buy?
How would you argue one choice to be better than the other? (and which is which)
Hoping to discourage her, I said "If you insist, I'll get the Rouser and modify it (swing arm, headlight, some crash protection), which will then cost us more money." She's OK.
Here are some specs between Renegade 250 and Rouser 220 for your reference. Please help me decide between the two (you may disregard the GRX's specs).
Thank you po!

ride na walang hanggan................
sabi nila do the math sa cc. Eh di MCX Renegade! hehe.. di ko alam itsura nun, pa post naman pics. tnx!
The infatuation is always there. . .
go for rouser since may business ka. malaki tank capacity, fuel economy at parts availability.

- Renegade only needs sliders and stunt bars, and being motard it is prepared for the anticipated crashes involved in stunting. Drifting is also easier because of high center of gravity.
- Rouser is already street-naked, it just needs new headlight, handlebar, [trellis-look] crash cage, stunt bars and sliders, stunt-bike na ang dating! Plus, 20HP can effortlessly pull off gas drifts (like Jorian did) and 2nd-gear wheelies.
Kaya mahirap mag-decide. But with the poll results I think alam ko na alin kukunin namin, pag-uusapan na lang namin this Monday. ^^
Thank you!

For no other reason that I own R220 so my vote goes to it

I felt that I got more motorcycle for my money.
Old school kasi ako, kaya mas gusto ko yung standard set up.

Scaling down Rouser's power and weight it would be 15.7HP at 112kgs, so the +5HP is more of a hoo-ha. But taking my weight of 68kgs into the equation, that means a difference of 11.4% in power in favor of Rouser, that I probably won't feel until 100KPH^.
Bottomline, spec sheet shows 5.64 superiority in HP; but calculating bike and rider weight, the difference is only 1.71 HP.

Going for the additional 50cc bro? :(
But the comparison for me is a little bit off lam mo naman ibig kong sabihin bro hehehehe
Rouser was developed for the street while the motard was developed for the dirt but was converted a little for street duties so I don't think the comparison of parts from both bikes would be relevant.

To be honest, I'm not impressed with Renegade's digital panel. Hehe in fact I plan to remove it [and just simply not use it] when or if I get the Renegade. Mas gusto ko pa nga kung analog, motard kasi it shouldn't be heavily relying on electronics.
Not really the +50cc bro kasi halos pareho lang din naman sila ng maximum power output, iniinda ko lang talaga ang 19Km/L average consumption lalo't malayo ang biyahe ko araw-araw. Full tank ko (10 liters) 3-4 days lang, which means around 50 Kms of travel everyday, costing approx. 125 pesos in gas; sa Renegade, (-/+) 68 pesos lang, sa Rouser (-/+) 49 pesos lang. Laking tulong na din ang 57 or 76 pesos per day bro.![]()

Quick throttle ng Renegade 250;
Bandang huli, nasanay din, and I love it.

I'm impressed with what the Renegade puts in the basket, as an off-road enthusiasts I'd easily choose this bike too but I guess TS is needing a bike for daily commute, thus I recommend the R220. These 2 bikes have their distinct playgrounds, and either of them is better off than the other when you put them together in one distinct arena. Separately, the're both excellent bikes.

i was in disbelief until i red it here..i met a 1st gen CPI owner the other day and he bragged about its fuel consumption..fair enough..
our friend here is torn between fuel economy bike VS. a bike that suits his riding style which is the ever hooligan motard!
i'll be looking forward to whatever you go with in the end..but id still wanna see you do some badass tricks on it..whatever bike it is!

I still prefer Renegade 250. Although Rouser 220 is also good. But it seems your situation is more in favor of renegade 250. it is perfect for the stunts!
rouser 220 is still ok to be used for stunts. but aside it will be heavy. it is better to use in on smoother road surface such as city highway![]()

Ryan,
I think the MCX Renegade 250 suits you best (bagay kaayo nimo/bagay talaga sa 'yo)...and whatever the outcome is, just follow your dreams..
