NPA Ambush in Antipolo: 5 SAF-PNP Killed

From the title, this may have nothing to do with Motorcycles but the location where the ambush happened was right smack in the area where a lot of weekend motorcycle riders go to. It happened in San Jose in Antipolo right past Teresa.

The New People’s Army unit operating in Rizal Province under Narciso Antazo Aramil Command (NAAC-NPA-Rizal) successfully ambushed this 6:00 in the morning the government troops assigned with the Commando Unit of the PNP Special Action Force (SAF-PNP). The ambush happened in San Jose, Antipolo City, Rizal, a kilometer away from the nearest headquarters of the “Butcher” 16th IB-PA-AFP and several detachments of 59th IB-PA-AFP.

The ambushed 9-man members of SAF-PNP were on board a hammer-type vehicle. After 15 minutes exchange of fire, the surviving injured members of the SAF-PNP surrendered. The ambush resulted to the instant death of 5 members of SAF-PNP and seriously injuring 4 other members. The dead SAF-PNP personnel are PO1 Bert Ramyr Basiwal Baddongon, P01 Ronnie Cabanayan Baroga, P01 Johnald Bunagan Tapitan, P01 Arvin Ibea infanta, P01 Jesus Marin Moral, Jr. Seriously injured was P01 Idris Ammak Madjaluddin and 3 more members of SAF-PNP.

The 4 SAF-PNP members who surrendered were treated as Prisoners of War. Following international war protocols on how to treat Hors de Combat and lenient treatment of prisoners of war, the four were released for humanitarian reason and those injured were immediately treated by NPA medics, were given first aid before they were brought to the nearest hospitals in Antipolo City.

The NAAC-NPA-Rizal forces suffered no casualties and they safely returned to their nearest camp inside the Sierra Madre Mountain.

Taken from the ambushed government forces were nine (9) high powered rifles including one (1) M203 grenade launcher, one (1) sniper rifle and seven (7) M16 rifles. Also taken were two .45 caliber pistols with magazines and ammunitions and voluminous documents of PNP-SAF with High Intelligence Value.

This tactical offensive is the response of the revolutionary movement to the long running demands of the people of Rizal Province to punish AFP-PNP troops who are notorious violators of human rights and those who continuously bring havoc to the lives and properties of the farmers, settlers and indigenous people of Rizal. This is also to give justice to the health workers who were victims of illegal arrest and human rights violation by the members of PNP-AFP . The heath workers that were abducted by combined troops of PNP and AFP in Maybancal, Morong Rizal last February 6, 2010 now known as Morong 43.

This tactical offensive is part of our response to the call of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP-NPA) to launch widespread tactical offensives against government forces and military targets as part of the revolutionary effort to bring the people’s war from the current strategic defensive towards the phase of strategic stalemate within the next 5 years.

We express our thanks to the people of Rizal Province including those nationalist anf concerned members of PNP and CAFGU-AFP and government officials who extends their help for us to be able to launch this successful tactical offensives.

Ingat na lang this weekend if you plan to ride east by way of Antipolo. I'm pretty sure checkpoints there will not be as friendly as usual.
