my own epic helmet.. sa wakas!

i got my glossy black epic helmet last saturday at one of spyder's authorized dealers here in san fernando, pampanga. so far, maganda naman ang performance nito.

it's got six vents and of course, modular sya. what really bothers me is the price. teamspyder posted epic's price at P3,495 per piece. pero i got mine for only P2,600. if not for teamspyder's email saying that the said shop is one of their authorized dealers baka 'di ko ito papatulan.

even the ECE rating at the back portion doesn't look so appealing. parang dinikit lang kase ito ng kung sino with "ECER22-05". again, i'm calling the attention of teamspyder. guys, is this the real thing or what? di ba ako, na-fake nito? i'd really appreciate it if you can post a reply to my query. TIA.

    teamspyder

i don't mean to discredit your products but i was just wondering 'bout your dealers' different pricing vs your posted prices here in mcp. a few days ago, nag-post din ako 'bout my query on your epic helmets pero wala kayo reply. but i still got myself an epic anyway since i really like your helmets. i also notice that the lens is somewhat uneven. parang hindi pantay ang pagka-coat nya. i only noticed it when i removed the plastic steaker on the lens yesterday. and if you put it against the light, meron syang rainbow color dun sa parteng itaas ng lens. sort of, when you paint a wall/surface, tapos 'pag natuyo ang pintura makikita mo kung pantay ang pagkabanat ng pintura o hindi.. i hope you get the picture.

ano po ang pwede kong gawin dito?

Re: my own epic helmet.. sa wakas!

kaya nga medyo hesitant ako dun sa binibigay ng kakilala ko, sir. kase 'di naman sya authorized dealer ng spyder helmets. pero 'yung pinuntahan ko'ng shop last saturday kasama dun sa list of dealers ng spyder kaya i kinda took the chance & finally got mine. i'm still planning to get another one for my wife but maybe sa solaris branches ako bibili, just to compare the helmets of their authorized dealers. another thing i noticed is that the epic helmet is made in taiwan.. hmm.. i thought they were made in thailand?

Re: my own epic helmet.. sa wakas!

    hi sir,
id like to clarify some of your concerns.
    - first of all, the listed price of epic is 2995 NOT 3495.
    - it is a legit ECE helmet, there is the sticker as well as the logo on the chin strap with a unique serial number
    - there are no Spyder helmets made in Thailand. Most are made in Taiwan and two models made in china.
    - re : rainbow on visor - have never come across this problem.not quite clear of what you are referring to. could you describe better? does it strain your eye?

the listed price is 2995, may i know which dealer you got it from because they are supposed to follow our dealer price? you can just pm me.

any other concerns please feel free to email us at [email protected]

    regards,
    team spyder

26 red - im sorry you feel that way. may i know what your basis is for saying "pangit ang plastic ng spyder" spyder uses good quality materials and never sacrifice on that.

regarding your other compalint, sometimes we may have missed some because of the volume of inquiries, im sorry for this.

    regards,
    team spyder

well you got their attention now.
its spyder enduro papi. maybe its one of the the model that were made in china.
i even (or uneven for this matter) got it for an overpriced of P2,550 at sm clark.
i got no complaints on its inner lining.. it stayed intact(refering to foam/pads/cloth material for about a year now.
downside is.... since it's removable... laging bumababa yung part just above the eyebrow, and you have to push it up once in a while when you're using the helmet. then comes the modular part. naglu-loose lagi ang 2 metal screws that holds the (quite heavy) modular face(which also doesnt stay up pag nalubak ka sa daan or heavy brake.
To resolve this, you have to tighten the those two screws.. but having so.. ang hirap naman nyang buksan... and the plastics (face and visor) are too squeeky that they sound about to break anytime.

if it remained closed as a full face helmet then what function does it have being a modular helmet?

@team spyder... thanks for the consideration... the plastic im refering to is the modular face part of the enduro model..which appears to be brittle rather than elastic but tough like the ones on index and hjc helmets

but what really disappoints me is the outer layer of the helmet itself
(that material where the graphics is printed)
a light impact can already cause the sticker to crack and peel off.... the reason why i bought it pa naman was because of its neat grapic design... tapos ang daling mabakbak(scrape off)
whereas this doesnt easily happen to other helmet brands

Re: my own epic helmet.. sa wakas!

well, my original choice was the enduro. but epic got my attention (inspite of the doubtful pricing vs the pricelist of teamspyder which is: P3,495.)

so far, i only have one complain 'bout it.. the clear lens has an "uneven coat" (or whatever you may call that thing that you see on walls when the paint is unevenly painted on a surface - may makapal, may manipis na portion).

i wish i could show this to teamspyder. its kinda hard explaining on forums. namimisinterpret kase.3

eto nga pala ang pricelist posted by teamspyder: ('got it from the other thread)

    Hi guys!!!

below is a price list for the the spyder helmets. Spyder helmets at the very least DOT certified. Some of the models are ECE certified.

    Model MSRP

    Enduro 1995
    Panther 1995
    Lycan 2695
    Finlay 2995
    Cranium 2995
    Tyke 3195
    Epic 3495

    Python 3495

well, i wouldn't argue too much on the price anymore. i have an epic anyways and i wouldn't have it any other way. i sent you PM 'bout the epic lens, sir. i hope we could work something out. as for the helmet itself, i really enjoy using it. it has a snug fit on my head; it's not that heavy for me & best of all, it has an ECER22-05 rating. makes me feel secured 'bout my "coconut".

    team team-spyder,

    do you repair helmets also?

    TIA

Re: my own epic helmet.. sa wakas!

    1. remove the visor/lens via the quick release locks sa sides ng helmet.
    2. unscrew the "black covers"
    3. tighten the screws that you see in the sides.

from time to time lumuluwag din 'yan sa kakabukas mo ng parteng harapan ng helmet. so, ganun lang ginagawa ko. feel free to explore your gears. sa'yo naman 'yan. kung ayaw mo naman, dalhin mo sa binilhan mo. for sure, alam nila gawin 'yan. 'hope that helps.

seeing your lid personally i must say it definitely is a factory defected visor.
and yes it distorts your vision.
well there goes your P2,600 lesson.
Even though its our own discretion to purchase a product
plus the downside of ignorance to check these defects,
I hope Team Spyder can do something about your epic helmet.

its factory defect alright. but the upside is, at least, its only the visor. it can be replaced easily & affordably i learned the hard way 'bout the "P2,600 issue".

    IMHO...

i tried HJC, ZEUS SPYDER and some China Made Helmets (pero nevermind the China's)

sa lens, they are almost the same.. pero mas clear sa akin ang HJC.

i tried Zeus full face, Modular and the Half Face (606).
im using Spyder Sphinx right now and i can say na mas magaang sya compare sa Zeus full face and modular.

para naman dun sa mga may problem sa flip up portion ng epic, i tried opening the part where the pull-down lock is located. nangyari kase, ayaw bumukas kaya inayos ko. i discovered that meron syang wire/cable na na-displace. so, i pulled it a little and put it back in place. eto gamit ko na ulit. the thing is, magkaroon ka lang ng lakas loob to explore your helmets para 'pag nagkaproblema madaling gawan ng paraan.

bigla kasing nag boom ang Spyder kaya siguro nag mass production kaya di masyado na check ng quality control maige... one reason is very affordable kasi ang price.

Epic din dapat ang kukunin ko nun, pero i heard na may issue nga na madaling mag loose yung sa chin. so i end up buying SPHINX, mukha pang SHARK Helmet.
