ako rin naghahanap para kung sakaling kailangan talaga mag ride ng umuulan di ba? chaka gusto ko rin itry o i-challenge yung riding in the rain e...:> kaya lang naisip ko pano pag papasok ka o late ka na for an important meeting? tapos yung only choice mo is to ride, tapos umuulan? meron nga siguro rain gear for upper and lower body, pero ang hinahanap ko e yung meron din pambalot ng paa... kasi nung bata ako yung binili na rain coat sakin ni daddy ko, meron coat na pangtaas, tapos rain pants, tapos meron pa pambalot ng sapatos sa paa kaya totally dry ka... sa rome ata niya nabili yun e... tagal ko na hanap wala ako mahanap.

you guys have any ideas???

err... ano yung totes??? sorry ha... :D

na try ko na rin naman na mag ride sa ulan... siguro mga 3 times na... yung first time, along katipunan from libis going to ateneo... paakyat yun di ba bago mag fly over so di mo kita yung fly over pa... tuyong tuyo... pag akyat ko dun sa point na kita ko na yung fly over, lakas ng ulan dun sa may fly over... basa ako for about 400-500meters siguro. silong ako sa flyover ng katipunan...

second time, last year, galing lucban, pahiyas. inulan kami ng ERG pabalik ng manila.. di na kami tumigil, nagpabasa na kami... sarap nga... hehehe.... singit ko lang tuyo... umuulan from just after lucban all the way to pagsanjan...

third and last time, papasok ako ng office... inulan ako sa taft, so binaybay ko na lang yung lrt... kaya lang ang kalaban mo e putik na galing sa mga gulong....

totes are rubber slip on boots for wet riding.
JT Triumph along Taft Ave. has them in stock.

the suomy rain jacket is really effective, well worth the 1500.

the JT rain suit is also good, cheap for a complete suit. 1050

totes are worn over your shoes.
2211 have those plastic shoe and lower leg rain protector.
you slip them on over your shoe and close the button somewhere along your calf and the entire thing closes by velcro.
I used it in a downpour all the way from 2211 in malate to my home here in pasig and i can safely say, they work. Cost would be around 300.00. Nylon type thing with rubber soles so you wont slip. Very nice piece of work i might say. Doesn't fit on me lang nga when i wear big shoes, kailangan mejo manipis like topsiders or slip ons.

Totes is the product brand name. They specialize in wet apparels.Boy G is right, you wear that rubber boots over your shoes pero specifically, they were made for your leather shoes (the kind you usually wear when you go to your place of businesses or offices) though, topsiders or sneekers can fit quite fine too.:) Kung mayron kayong kakilala from Virginia,USA, marami don, mag padala na lang kayo.

Camote,

Your not supposed to wear steel toe tiped shoes while riding. They can crush your toes to bits if you get into a bad accident. Or so I was taught when I took the "stay upright" course.

but then again, sabi nga ng marami nating kapatid, mahirap maglinis pagkatapos mag ride sa ulan kaya madalang na madalang na madalang ang ride sa ulan... unless inabot na lang siguro ako sa daan... :*

hubris,

Nabili ko upper and lower (hercules brand) sa Angeles pa. Sa Johnnys Supermarket, Sto. Rosario St. I think meron din diyan sa place niyo or different brand.

Oks narin ito considering yung price is only less than 200 Pesos.:)

BoyG,
San mo nabili ang mga raincoat or san mabibili yan? Meron ba sa Triumph JT, Grace Park, Kalookan?

since i really have to go to work with my bike, i decided to buy a raincoat na nabibili sa mga palengke tulad ng nabili ni froilan pero ang brand niya ay spartan. pants at upper gear sya worth P230. okay naman siya. for my feet naman, bumili ako ng boots (as in botas) sa palanegke din kasi mahal sa mall. worth P 270 lang siya. never pa nabasa ang paa ko.

ang damit ko ay binabalot ko ng plastic before putting them in my bag. i just change pagdating sa office, pati sapatos ko nasa office na rin iniiwan ko.

enjoy ako sa ulan kahit gaano pa kalakas. bad trip lang pag lampas tuhod na ang baha, hahanap ka ng ibang way. but right now, come hell or high water, i enjoy riding while raining. ingat lang sa dulas.:*

i also bought the spartan 2 piece rainsuit. mahal pala bili ko, i got them for 285 at shopwise libis. i haven't bought boots yet but i saw rubber boots at handyman ever gotesco ortigas that goes for 200 lang, coleman brand pa. i'm thinking of buying those but i'll have to wear em over the rain pants. the pants' laylayan is not wide enough to go over the the boots. don't have time yet to check out those totes tho. how high up the legs do they go? and are they wide in the leg area too like rubber boots? ride dry and safe!:*

:D ...got mine 4 years ago in TOBY's pero wala na....they dont carry (COLUMBIA) that stuff anymore. it's pricey but keeps you realy dry.......it comes with a decoy duck ....heheh! jklang!....really that thing is so comfortable, light and flexible. it's somewhat like rubberized (parang iron on stickers - ganon) plus it's got lining both tops and bottoms. unlike the JT1's the bottoms are not lined. so when you wear them with just shorts on you tend to rip most of your hairs off of your legs while removing the bottom rain pants.....arrrruuuyyy!:D

I've experience with them. I feel comfortable wearing my steel toed boots. CAT has a sale in Galleria 70% off. I'd be more scared of crushing my toes if my shoes aren't steel toed. BUT maybe it's just me. I've had my toes run over by a car about a year ago, If not for my trusty CAT, I'd be sporting dead nails now.

Hi!! Just wanted to check if you guys really Sweat when wearing
your rain coats. During a heavy downpour, I am forced to wear my rain gear but after arriving at the mall, I have to change my shirt and pants since they are soaked in sweat. I have bought
all kinds of rain gear from the cheap latex like gear that you see in hardware stores ( I call em portable saunas ) to the "breathable" fabrics , goretex, cordura etc that I got in LA. The "breathable" ones are better but in heavy heavy downpours, the rain will eventually penetrate, they are also too warm for me. The ones that are very thin with Polyvinyl material are not good since it cannot vent away the sweat of your body. Anyway, how do you guys keep cool when wearing these gear?
I am cursed with the fact that I sweat more than the average person.

Take care!!!

With the heavy plastic ones, you really are going to sweat. I bought one, they call it poncho, it's got buttons on the side and a hood, that's it. You put it over your body, not like the conventional raincoats wherein you slip your arms into the raincoat and button it at the front. But it only covers up below the knee when sitting down on your ride so you have to fold your pants a bit and you have to wear sandals instead of your shoes cause with this they are sure to get wet. I got for 180 at divisoria.

kazmut, ive read somewhere in the net that its not a very good safe practice to wear a steel toed safety shoes when riding because in the event that the pressure applied to the steel device is great enough to crush it thereby pinning your toes and trapping you in the bike then therell be difficulty in extracting you from the bike/wreckage. well, thats the other side of things and i think thats one concern to ponder about
ride safe :)

Am planning to have one custom made. My bro says there's rubberized material that can be used to make a good rain gear. It's available in Divisoria. Need to ask though the name of the shop. I want an overall type of rain gear and am planning to have the zip put at the back. Waist, wrist and leg will be garterized (is there such a word? :O).

That's great! I'm quite interested. Though I still prefer the zippers in front but with a snap-on 2-inch flap over the zippers to prevent water from seeping through. Hirap mag zip/unzip pag nasa likod. :D

Please advice me of any developments.

I just found these sa SM, Borloloy Section (payong, cellphone faceplates, keychains etc.). "Shoemate" brand shoe covers, P119.75. The picture on the label is a guy on a motorcycle.

These are plastic "boots" that fit over your shoes and pants, reaching almost to the knees. May garter sa taas and the zipper is at the rear. Thin plastic all the way with thicker plastic sole. The picture even has a "shifter pad" sa rainboots but hanggang picture lang 'to.

It's definitely not heavy duty, mukhang pang-emergency or light duty. Some rain might come in over the top but at least hindi maputikan ang shoes ko. Hey, for P200 I can live with that.

Frank Woolf
December 4th, 2004, 12:54 AM
Be careful with the overboots. I bought two different pairs and they were dangerous because they have to be loose enough to get them over your shoes/boots which means your foot can easily slip around inside when you put your foot down.

Those I got were not dsigned for bikes so maybe those you have are OK.

Guys, where can I get "oversized" rain suits? I'm 6-feet tall.
