View Full Version : Rommel in LA... Colorado is next....
rommel March 29th, 2004, 10:54 AM Hi guys,
I saw my pictures in GSChan's thread so I think I should just start my own.....
The pinoys here in LA are the best friends that one can hope for. I just wish I can do the same for them in the Philippines...
Oh... before I forget.......
LA CREST ROCKS!!!!
Just conquered LA Crest aboard a Suzuki 650 bandit
rommel March 29th, 2004, 11:03 AM Actually, just came from the ride but I can't wait to share this with everyone. I will post more pictures in the gallery so please do watch out for them.
I know tonight I will sleep a happy man...
:D
My special thanks goes to Rene who lend me the bike, and to the pinoys here who made my stay in LA a very memorable one... (Gudy, Ernie, Francis, Ed, Tony, Bobby, Robert, and the other riders whom I have met but forgotten their names.... but will definitely not forget their faces....

GSChan March 29th, 2004, 01:55 PM Rommel,
Sarap naman ng trip itinerary mo. Buti ka pa nakakapag-motor. I wish I could do the same.....
BTW, what's a Bandit 650? SV650 ba or Bandit600 ang ginamit mo? Yung kuya ko kasi halos na-convince ko na mag motor dito sa Ventura. He's interested in getting an orange/copper SV650S.
Napipikon kasi siya sa tindi ng traffic. That's the reason why he left L.A... di na raw niya matiis yung traffic sa 405 and 101.
RiderDriver March 30th, 2004, 01:14 AM I am so glad they took you to Angeles Crest and all the way up to Wright wood. Ako local na it has been a decade since I did that loop. Last year I did the reverse from Wrightwood back to Newcomb's Ranch.
Was there still snow in Wrightwood?
Sorry I could not spend more time with the guys, we were too busy watching the World Superbike inside. We're fanatics.
I'll attach some more pictures when I get a chance.
Rene Ybardolaza March 30th, 2004, 10:37 AM Rommel,
It was our pleasure having you here. My mother is still talking about you this morning. I have not seen her laugh so hard in a while. Don't let the smooth roads of The Crest spoil you when you go back home. That "bulaga" you mentioned will get you everytime if you're not paying attention. See you again soon.

Thank you for trusting me with your bike Rene, I cannot thank you enough. Making your mom smile is also a memorable one for me..... I hope that she will have a long and happy life which I am sure she will, with the kind of family that she has...
The ride was great and Ed surely made it more memorable... whatta ride!!!
Rene Ybardolaza March 30th, 2004, 10:14 PM Good lookin' riders in them pictures there, RD. Nice meeting you at last. Great to have a face behind the name. I woulld love to go over to San Fernando Valley if it was a weekend, but Wednesdays are a little tough given the distance. Take care of our man Rommel. He's got some good ridin' ahead of him yet.
M@RVIN March 30th, 2004, 11:25 PM Hey Rommel nice pictures, I am very proud of you wearing your official MIB shirt in the states. It seems that your having a great time there, great to see our other Filipino riders and MCP members having a good time with you Rommel. :C
bragster March 31st, 2004, 12:46 AM Can't say anything else but..........
Awesome!!!!
Great going Rommel!
Just a little bit of trivia for the guys in LA. Rommel is our MIB #001!
Great pics!
RiderDriver March 31st, 2004, 04:45 AM Hey Rommel, since I have a MIB shirt, does that make me a member? Honorary Member? Saling kat member? (member my a$$, pinahiram ko lang yan T-shirt sa iyo?)
Levis,
shirt given to me when I picked him up. Required to get a picture taken with it so here it is.
Rene,
I'll try to get some pixs of bike night for you instead.
rommel March 31st, 2004, 07:41 AM Hey RD, mura lang ang membership. Just fill-up the form and send it via e-mail then sagot ko na membership fees mo he-he....
Gave some t-shirts to other friends also... sana they will send pics with them wearing it....
levis March 31st, 2004, 09:37 AM MIB's in the US are growing! Proudly Philippine made :D este founded pala hehehe
RD have you met liamjosh (ony?) he was the first honorary MIB member, he resides in SF. He's here in cebu now for his annual visit - maybe you guys should hook up when he gets back :)

Heehee! Ayaw na nga niya umuwi diyan sa atin. Natatakot daw siya.
Traffic in Manila makes L.A. traffic look like Edsa on an Easter Sunday. There's just no comparison. :D
RiderDriver April 1st, 2004, 01:05 AM Levis,
Have not met liamjosh. San Francisco is 5hrs away on the 5 freeway and 8-10hrs if you take the scenic route Pacific Coast HYW. It's a major production just to go there, then there's also the trip back.
Maybe in May we can truck our bikes and head north.

Rick T Rvltionz April 10th, 2004, 10:20 PM The 2 weeks before rommel got here it was 70s... even an 80 day or two. But he brought the rain and even the SNOW!!! Aaaaaarrrghhh... must be the snazzy leather sandals he insists on wearing - no, no, no... it's the shorts... yeah, the shorts.
Rommel ~ try wearing some pants today! Oh, and you CANNOT wear those "slippers" unless you want your toes under a couple inches of snow... :*
The Mongolian BBQ last nite was goooood.... pics to come. Ano to? Colorado Lamon Club?????? :D

From Vegas to Denver is about 12 hours... :) So you figure, 4-5 hours tacked on from L.A....
Snow falls here then its gone - like today (ask Rommel!). Tomorrow = 67, then 69, 68 and 71 this Friday... :D It's NEVER boring, I mean... look at the pics!! :O
All you So Cal guys are officially INVITED to beautiful Colorado for some unbelievable riding and fun! :D:D I'll be your personal tour guide... well, tt600grl (Malou) will be there too. ;)
Rick T Rvltionz April 13th, 2004, 08:13 AM Rommel,
It was a PLEASURE to have you as our guest... I only wish I had more time to take you around in "warmer" weather. :)
You are family now man... and are always welcome back.
Hopefully, next time, you can bring your family.
See you again soon pare...
Cu@DCrest April 14th, 2004, 03:11 AM Hey Rommel,
Where can I get those ALPINESTAR Slippers...:D
RiderDriver April 14th, 2004, 05:50 AM Rick t,
I have never done a 12hr drive before. I don't think I can do that. Maybe I can try to make it there but just the thought of coming back and doing another 12+4 might be too much. How about if I fly there? Will you lend me a bike? Should I bring my snow gear? hehehe
I'm thinking of going to Washington this May to see family. Quote from my sister who just came from there "Their house is about the length of two and a half basketball courts located towards the back of his 72-acre property. At the rear is a river where one can fish and is big and deep enough to drive a sea-doo over"
And he has a driving range in his back yard.
"And Tito Nonoy looks not bothered about those lost balls. He has hundreds of thousand balls. Yes, hundreds of thousand! He said a golf store closed down and sold to him all their balls at prices he can't refuse and they are still in original Spalding boxes. "
Looks like a good weekend. But Washington is also a 16hr drive. Oh boy.
Rick T Rvltionz April 14th, 2004, 09:45 AM I've done many 12+ hour "drives" but not rides... Those are reserved only for the true Iron Butts among us. :)
Fly here and Malou will let you borrow her.... her... ummm.... husband's RC51! :D Heck her TT600 is still here. :)
Let us know when brother! We'll be glad to show you God's country - Colorado. :):) If you like L.A. Crest... man, you'll LOVE our own "Peak to Peak"... :D
