I know that there is no super SAFE gear out there...

They are just advertising this and that....

I'm just curious about some experiences of other MCP members with their own brand.

Do you have any recent accidents that your SAFETY GEAR works alot in saving you from fracture or heavy bruises?

Can you specify or name your gear and your accident...

There are too many gears out there, I really don't know what to choose...

The helmets have dot and snell, how about the bike jacket and pants with protection? Does it also have a classification standards?

Thanks...

Even tho, i havent been into a major accident (and hoping not), i would like to share my thoughts on these. No safety GEARS is guaranteed to save you from fracture or bruises! There is a slim chance you will be spared from it by wearing SAFETY GEARS! And if i where you, take that CHANCE, rather having none at all!
Choose GEARS that will suits your taste! Not by brands nor its price! RideSafe!

yup., been saved twice already bro.., a certified helmet is a must.. saved me from my second spill unscathed. knee/shin protector, elbow guard, knuckled gloves, hi-cut leather shoes.......... but then it all depends on the severity of
your spill.

remember the MOTOGP riders?., most of them experienced high spills., to name a few., V. Rossi, N. Hayden,.... etc.. if they're not wearing any protective
gears do you think they'll survive 100MpH ++ spills.......... sad story for Daijiro Kato though., a 125mph spill took his life (even dressed in full protective gear)...

better to wear protective gears than wearing nothing at all.., HTH

SNELL or DOT are certifications.

Safety gears are not a guarantee...but yes they do help minimize injury and maximize protection.
Dont doubt your gears fella's.

Last year i got in to an accident wherein i was dragged 20 yards...it seemed like forever.
I had my gears on and not a tocino on me but some bruisings that heald up.

My knee and shin guard (Komine) had protected me several times hehehe...spill king nga ako sa Club namin...When my balikbayan Clubmate borrowed this gear, it save him too, if you would look at the damages done you would think what if hes not wearing this safety gear?

My zues helmet saved me from broken skull and death when I had ugly spill and hit my head hard on the pavement. And my scoyco knee, shin and elbow guard saved from tocino.

ok...consider this...spend 5-15 thousand maybe even 20 thousand bucks worth of safety gears (helmets, jackets, pants, boots, pads, backprotectors, shin/knee guards, etc)...now compare that to your hospital bill if you get a fracture, broken ribs, head trauma, etc...or worse funeral expenses...knock on wood.

what will you chose?

one of our member was hit by a flying piece of wood that came off from a vehicle in front of him. though he's not wearing his riding jacket, he's wearing his elbow/arm guard which he used to deflect the flying wood. nothing happened to him.

on another occassion, same rider :D he was sideswipe by a tricycle and was literally thrown out and hitting his backside on the curb. lucky for him he is wearing full armors, the back protector just saved his spine.

one buddy of mine who got really excited of his new branded riding jacket, wore the jacket to take it for a spin but forgot to wear his helmet and knee/sheen guards. he was bumped by left turning cage just a block away from his office. the result...poknat in the head and tocinos on the knee and sheen. his body and arms don't have any bruises because they were protected by his riding jacket.

so, are they just advertizing gimiks?

So body armors dont have certification... only helmets?

Kasi i'm trying to find a sturdy body armor even if it cost a little higher than the one that is class A only( I really don't trust class A's if it's a body or head gear)

So can you recommend me a full gear with quality materials and the name of the shop ( I do not prefer U.K.x2 :) ) I prefer a new one.

From head gear to shoes... Suggestions with brand that has a superior quality will very much be appreciated

Thanks!

IMO, i'd rather crash, minor or major, with gears than none, mamahalin man or mura lang.

yeah browse ride2die.com and see how bad it can get, actually di pa nga gory yan :D

Pero you will not know the quality of a class A until you've been involve in an accident diba... So to me, much better kung gumamit ng original gears na especially or even tested for such collisions.

protective gears help a lot to avopid from fractures and heavy bruises...

Oongat nag iingat tayo pero mas safe kung meron...I have 3 friends who suffered from face multiple operations and surgeries because of dislocations due to accident...at alam nyo, lahat sila walang helmet... ung isa around 300K nagastos, nilagyan 48 screws ang face bones nya dahil nadislocate lahat...honda wave ang gamit nabangga sa scooter..yong driver ng scoot jacket at helmet lang pero konting galos lang sa kamay inabot dahil walang gloves...basag ang helmet pero walang damage ang ulo..imagine kung wala syang helmet baka ulo nya nabasag...

I'm a living-crutch walking testimony of how safety gears work. Last accident, my DOT certified helment, full body armor, riding gloves and knee/shin protectors saved me from any kind of road rash and/or additional fractures. Its just that I didnt had any riding shoes on (only ordinary sneakers) thus sustaining a fractured ankle.

kaya nga tinawag na safety gears and protectors...

i agree with Payon Hunter, even if you have the best gears if not worn properly...they'll be useless...

If im decided to buy a teknic complete apparel...

Is it advisable? Does it have bad reviews?

Is it already in line with the supreme or top quality of riding apparels?

Blunt force trauma is pretty much a given in an accident. My leathers helped me in my accident. Without the shoulder armour, my injury would have been more than a bruise. But, the leathers pretty much protected me from stratches and abrasions I would have gotten first from the asphalt, then on the stone gravel, with bits and pieces of wood in them.

Since that accident, I don't compromise and try to buy gear that I can afford. Teknic is a good brand. Get a 1-pc or 2-pc suit that zips together. So, when you fall, the jacket will not ride up the side of your body. Also, get an suit that has a liner in them or buy a compression shirt.

I saw the pics. This gives me a new realization and outlook on how to drive a motorcycle. Always wear safety gears. It will definitely minimize to some extent the injuries you might incure during an accident or mishap. But just the same, I still chose to ride. Accidents? kasama na to sa tinaya ko when I decide to ride a motorcycle. Pag rider ka, nandyan talaga yan. Kung oras mo na, oras mo na.

Arai ko! Pano na lang kung helmet ko ay 20 - 30 mil halaga. Parang ang hirap palitan nun kung buo pa. Haaay! :)

my helmet saved my head from being scraped off my body! kaso, wala pa 'ko kneepads nun kaya eto, ang tuhod ko up to now, 'di na normal ang pakiramdam. naisip ko, kung noon pa 'ko bumili ng mga paddings eh, 'di sana ako nadale sa tuhod. i was also wearing a thick jacket then. if not, natalupan sigurado ang likod ko!

kaya ako, better to spend 10k or so on protective gears than spending a lifetime of regret because i didn't have gears on.

hmm...

saftey gears do thery really help you?

* safety gears helps, specially with good quality helmets...

* for me, when you crash, it depends if you will get bruises or not; crashes happens its normal, but we can minimize the percentage of getting bruises by wearing safety gears...

* good quality helmet is the minimum

about wearing china made gears it is ok for me; wear china made armor; knee guard and some stuff.. ( mas ok yung meron kesa wala )

so to answer the question of the thread starter, safety gears really helps..
i crashed around 80kph; ito suot ko: jacket(from overdose); komine gloves; komine knee guards (made in china); rubber shoes; and 508 zeus helmet... luckily i didn't got any bruises; bugbog lang katawan ko kagugulong sa kalsada.. swerte pa rin.. (i mean pag masama talaga bagsak mo, may kalalagyan ka) imho lang po

take a prayer and ride safe ! it works
