View Full Version : which HJC helmet is better?
smallvill3 July 19th, 2007, 02:33 AM mga bro, help me decide...
i see lots of HJC helmets sa Triumph JT but can't decide which one to buy. ok naman un mga designs nila. i've a question wats the difference between
* AC-11
* AC-12
* FG-14
thanks!
Ichthus Janz July 19th, 2007, 10:26 AM AC 12
I read in the www somewhere that this is helmet had the best shock absorbtion quality in a test done the DOT.

Yes. CS-12. ang pag kakaalam ko ng CS series ang pinaka mura ng HJC. i've been using it for more than 6 years na. kaya nga for retairment na sya. Try ko yung AGV K-series + Bali for Short rides. HJC..... okay yan.......
"Kung mag kano helmet mo. yun din ang presyo ng Ulo mo"
Ride Safe Guys :)
edfaith July 20th, 2007, 11:50 AM kung bibili ka lang ng helmet shoei, arai, HJC, Zeus, AGV/MDS. Wag yung INDEX. (no offence to index user.) Masyado syang manipis.
edfaith July 20th, 2007, 12:02 PM mag kano ba buget mo sir?
Modular Overrev July 20th, 2007, 12:12 PM i have an FG14 Target it really looks good, put it aside a Shoei X11 & Arai RX7RR helmet at di magmumukhang cheap yung FG14.
btw sure ka nasa 9K lang ang AC12? if so kagatin mo na yun lalo na kung carbonfiber pa sya, yung AC11 yung older model nasa 8k.
anyway top of the line ng HJC ang AC & HQ series then susunod ang FG then the CS & CL series, mas mahal ang helmet mas maganda features.
pepe1275 July 20th, 2007, 12:16 PM get the ac 12 sir, thats the newest model they have for the ac series and check out www.webbikeworld.com for helmet reviews.

Paul.Garcia July 22nd, 2007, 06:31 AM Sir, I'm using a Sy-Max right now. Honestly, I like the sound-proofing of my stolen CL-14 Tribal more than this modular helmet. Maybe modular ones are really not designed to keep noise levels down (or at least, they won't match full faced ones). My SyMax uses a quick-release retention system while the CL-14 uses the double D-ring one. Although I don't have any problems with the quick-release system (locking and unlocking), the double D would still go a longer way if we talk about safety. Using the double D-ring system, at first, was incovenient, but you're sure that it won't fail in the event of a crash. No problems with the vent system, too.
I haven't used any of those that you mentioned but I would recommend to, at least, consider the CL14.
And, if you really want an HJC that's REALLY good, don't buy from Triumph JT. Their HJCs are from Korea and not from the USA. Although the one from Korea is a legit HJC manufacturer, I think the US standards would stand out better when it comes to safety.
Note: My SyMax bought from Triumph does not have a "DOT approved" sticker as what the website says. Just an ECE one. It also has an "HJC Korea" tag. Also, it only costs P8800, whereas, according to the website, it should cost around P12K-P13k. My CL14 also appeared to be cheaper in Triumph than that of the HJC website, knowing that they still need to mark it up to cover their importation expenses.
Hope this helps.

thanks po for the feedback, i would like to ask if then wer can i buy a US HJC?
*observe ko nga medyo mababa price sa JT compare sa web, i just tout na maybe it came from korea, na malapit lang sa pinas since hjc is korean brand kaya mura lang kc mura lang din un shipment compare na kung manggagaling pa ng u.s. mahal un shipping
Modular Overrev July 22nd, 2007, 03:40 PM just get the model you like, kahit alin sa 3 panalo ka, just make sure fit mabuti yung helmet sa ulo mo at comfortable ka.
walang pinagkaiba ang US & RP market na HJC helmet dahil pareho sila manufactured in korea, why spend the extra money on shipping? is it just b'coz the HJC here is cheaper you think it's fake & the US HJC's are genuine?
btw ECE is the European equivalent of DOT certification in the US.

ah ok. guguluhan lalu ako, daming affirmative dami rin negative.
ECE(euro) = DOT(us)
so un mga HJC sa US is galing rin ng korea or locally produced sa US pero under license ng HJC korea?
oo nga JT Triumph is the sole importer & distributor of HJC in the Phils... kita ko yan sa website ng HJC under sa distribution

Modular Overrev July 23rd, 2007, 12:35 AM check this out;
http://www.hjchelmets.com/company.htm
HJC develops & manufactures the helmets in Korea & they have offices in the US, EU & China to import & distribute the helmets in their respective markets.
D-MAN July 23rd, 2007, 02:25 AM contrary to what sir paul have said, if someone is selling you an HJC that is made in korea, then what you're getting is the ORIGINAL, direct from the source, because HJC is korean not american ika nga, HJC stands for "Hong Jin Crown", sama pakinggan kaya acronym na lang ginamit... hehehe it is distributed and manufactured in korea tulad nga ng sabi ni Sir Francis, pati R&D nila nasa korea... akala nyo lang na mas ok ang sa US kasi mahal...pero parepareho lang sila, galing din korea yung sa US. Its ok to buy from JT Tiumph
here's a link if you want to see HJC's many line-up.

wakywakyme July 23rd, 2007, 02:27 AM can't wait for an ac12 diablo:D or maybe a cl sp animus :D
Paul.Garcia July 23rd, 2007, 04:35 AM Wow! I didn't know that! Thanks for the info mga sir! Now, I don't have to feel bad about my SyMax having an "HJC Korea" tag. Galing!:D
Moving on, I support Modular Overrev's advice. Get the best two designs that you want and fit it.
I haven't tried any of the other brands that you mentioned, pero budgetwise, I'll get the HJC. Go get the CF kung may budget ka naman.
Goodluck sa hunt!:wave:

thank man for the info. it will help a lot
orionZ3 July 24th, 2007, 05:13 AM hehehe basta hjc.. sulit!! :) tiwala ko rito.. sarap pa isuot.. :)
NSCB July 27th, 2007, 01:39 PM HJC had already put up a multi-million factory in China....so it does'nt mean to say that if you get an HJC helmet that was made in china that it is less in quality compared to those made in the US or Korea....
be careful though, that you are not getting an imitation....
Modular Overrev July 27th, 2007, 02:51 PM just to be sure, buy your helmets from authorized dealers para di kayo mabentahan ng fake.
NSCB July 27th, 2007, 03:03 PM yup, i agree with Modular....get it from authorized dealers, the price is mostlikely the same whichever dealer you go to because they already have an SRP on each model....
Paul. So, I guess, weight is one factor. Car show finish ang ginagawa nila sa mga HJC lids as described in their website (and they're even recommending rubbing compounds for small scratches), ibig sabihin, ganun kaganda ang paint nya. The windshield/face shield also has the brand and model embossed on it. And of course, the price! If the HJC you're looking at is P1000+ cheaper than the SRP of authorized dealers (such as Triumph), chances are, you're looking at a fake one (unless they are on sale). Or, you can ask the seller, usually naman, aminado naman sila kung saan gawa ang helmets nila e.:D
@NSCB: Sir, would you get your HJC from China? Just asking here. Kasi, China is known for its lack of quality control of their products. There maybe a HJC based there but the workers are still Chinese locals (unless machine pala ang pinapanggawa sa helmets). Though I don't have anything against our Chinese brothers, marami sa kanila ang aminado na garapal ang pag-imitate sa mga products ng ibang bansa. Just look at those tiangges with low prices for any item. Almost, if not all, of them are made in China. Kasi nga walang QC. Just my opinion, I'd rather get my HJC from the mother company. How about you, sirs NSCB and Modular Overrev?
Have we gone off-topic here?:D
marc July 27th, 2007, 03:40 PM My helmet is HJC CL15
Works fine for me DOT approved pa siya. Bought it at triumph sa West avenue QC near SM Northe Edsa. Got it for 4500.
Mas mura kaysa sa AC series. but if you have
the budget, I say go for it.
NSCB July 27th, 2007, 03:48 PM @Mod, di naman siguro OT...but do tell me if it is....
@paul
if the Helmet was made from the factory of HJC in China...i'm sure they will adhere to the standards set by the mother company...otherwise, they'll ruin their reputation...
add ko na rin, it does'nt mean if a helmet is lightweight..it's a fake....depende yan sa materials na ginamit for constructing the shell...
smallvill3 July 27th, 2007, 11:58 PM di naman kayo naOOT. cge go on with your discussion. i'm learning a lot. :)
Paul.Garcia July 28th, 2007, 04:16 PM @Mod, di naman siguro OT...but do tell me if it is....

Hindi lang talaga ako confident, hehehe... pero may point ka sir... a very good one. That's noted!
Going back to the topic, to answer the threadstarter's question, mas maganda yung maraming vents, fully removable liners, at lightweight lang. Also, look at the liners, tingnan mo kung alin sa kanila yung pinakagusto mo yung liner. And one last thing, consider also the retention system kung D-ring or quick-release. Baka meron kang preference among those.
NSCB July 28th, 2007, 06:09 PM @paul
mas magaan yung mga helmet sa Quiapo because their shell are simply made of plastic and their EPS liners are thin and one piece lang...unlike branded helmets, majority have dual EPS liners for better ventilation...
