BMW Motorrad intros Neck Brake System for motorcyclists, Safety, BMW (BMW Cars News)

BMW Motorrad neck brace System We normally don’t cover motorcycle news here on Autoblog, but a release from BMW Motorrad yesterday caught our attention and we thought we’d share it. Motorrad is BMW’s motorcycle division, and yesterday it introduced its new neck Brace System, which is designed to help protect the spinal cord from injury in the event of an accident. It’s usable with any helmet, and the way it works is quite simple.

The rider places the carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass brace around his or her neck and then secures it using a pair of fasteners mounted to its side. It’s padded with soft-touch materials on its underside, so it’ll be comfortable to the wearer, and the use of lightweight materials keeps it from becoming too cumbersome. Developed with the aid of a physician, the brace helps keep the rider’s neck from moving too far forward, backward, or laterally, and also helps absorb energy coming down to the spine from the helmet if the impact is coming from above. According to BMW, at no time does this device inhibit the rider’s normal range of movement. The system will cost 325 in the UK, and unfortunately, we don’t have any info on when/if it will be available in the US, and what our pricing would be. We’d like to hear what you motorcycle riders out there think of this device in the comments.

Yes okay nga lang ang bulky. Nasa helmet manufacturer yan, design nila yan eh. At paniguradong SAFE yan BMW ang gumawa. IMHO lang.

Yup sir max mukhang iba na itsura pag tao na talaga may suot. Pang dirt bike.

similar/improved concept as the one worn by F1 and nascar racers. imho, might be an overkill foe everyday use.

Maganda yung material used. Design wise parang masagwang soot, but then again kung safety naman sa riders why not as long as affordable ang price sa atin. Maganda sa mga racers, at long drives ito.
Ganda po ng thread nyo.

if we're talking about the neck brace then mali yung thread title....

this technology is old news...a south african company was able to revolutionized this technology last year...

the model is Leatt Neck Brace - Moto GPX Club MX

it was advertised on quad uk magazine..i was planning to buy one last year..pero nung nakita ko yung price......mas mahal pa sa arai tour x ko...for a piece of plastic.. [nakakapanlambot ang presyo, though mabentang mabenta, lalo na sa mga racers,,always out of stock]

...the one bmw made is very similar to this...even the price is very similar...[baka nga binili ng bmw yung patent or rights ng leatt]

to be honest...i do like the design...its not bulky...but...you need a very compact roost protector to wear this[maybe thinner than thor sentinel]...otherwise if you use the standard chest armor....those are really bulky and can impede the function of this system...

...it is very well in demand here in uk at the moment..

at the moment...ill settle muna on my sixsixone neck brace...syadong mahal ang leatt:nuts::nuts:
