sir may kakabasa lang ako thread about helmet repair. sabi nila better to buy a new one than to repair dahil may life span daw yun. i'm not sure kung totoo.

may helmet din ako na ARAI Snell Rated, problem ko e yung sa chin area natanggal, good condition pa siya pati mga foam sa loob. nakapanghihinayang kasi more than 10k ang price ng mga ganun ngayon e.
naghahanap din ako ng magkakabit nung parang rubber sa tapat ng bunganga.

ayoko pa itapon, sayang. bibihira ang may ganun ngayon.

gaano na ba katagal yang mga helmet nyo?

there are actually two opinions about the lifespan of a helmet...
1st...says the time starts ticking by the time the helmet is produced whether or not it was bought or not.
2nd...says the countdown begins once you start using it...

nevertheless, most helmet manufacturers recommend that a helmet be replaced under the following condition:
1. it is 4 years or older whether or not there are visible damages.
2. when it had already been used in an accident
3. when there are visible deterioration to it's components.

most people agree with 2 & 3, but others would argue with #1, specially if the helmet had been properly used and still looks good as new...however, all we can see is how it looks outside...the shell being composed of several materials aside from plastic have weakened overtime, much more for the inner liner which is made of polystyrene or stryrofoam, therefore may not offer the same protection as it was intended for...these components take the beating when the helmet is put to the actual test. Another reason is that, in the span of four years, newer design & better technology are mostlikely available for the newer helmets...

consider the following example...i had an Arai Signet & a Shoei GRV in the early 90's, though these are considered high end helmets at the time...better shell design, better ventilation, removable/washable liners and better materials are used by helmet manufacturers which are considered just 2nd to these brands such as KBC & HJC....

Anyway, 2nd hand ko lang kc nabili ito mga sir.. after two uses..nanlag-lag na ung manipis na foam a loob although i think gud conditon pa outer shell nya compared to cheap china made and imitations. would like to buy new one kaya lang budget constricted. anyway, if there's no place where i can buy replacement for the inner lining, ok lang..pagtiyagaan ko na lang.. bro, why don't you buy a Zeus? They are reasonably priced...and they have modular helmets also.

I strongly urge you to get a new helmet ASAP... you'll never know when you will meet an accident....

Sir kung foam & lining lang po sira pwede pa po irepair yan hanap na lang kayong tela na coolmax gawing pang lining sa foam, uratex po maganda subsitute. tapos pagaya nyo sa nag-upholstered yung shape ng nasirang foam.. Nagawa ko na yan sa Arai kong helmet dati pa nagpulbos yung foam. Ok naman po kinalabasan. Kaya lang nahiram sa akin yung helmet hindi na binalik... That was way back 1990's bago palang akong nagmomotor hindiko alam ganun pala kamahal yun...:o

Shoei's a great brand. A bit pricey but very good. My concern with your inquiry is that you mentioned some DAMAGE TO THE INNER FOAM SHELL?!!!!!! Dudde you better replace that helmet pronto....The outer shell is designed to keep out sharp objects from penetrating the helmet and into your soft semi-soft head. The foam inner shell is designed to ABSORB and BREAK apart upon impact, channeling away the g-forces from your cranium. If the inner foam shell is compromised in any way...durg-durog, delaminating from the outer shell or not in one piece, wala na siyang bisa. Get rid of it please...para kang literal na kumuha ng bato at pinukpok sa iyong ulo. Imagine a billiard ball na isargo mo sa dalawang nakadikit na bola...yung helmet outer shell yung first ball na tatamaan, yung pangalawang bolang lilipad from the transfer of inertia ay ang kawawa mong ulo. Be safe...hope it helps. ZEUS,INDEX or SPYDER helmets are ok....huwag lang yung mga pekeng plastic helmet na hindi reinforced fiberglass o ABS plastic ang outershell.

gud day sir clownfish..thanx so much sir for the concern but i stand corrected.. di po ung inner hard foam shell ang durog-durog but un pong manipis na foam sa loob na nakadikit po sa lining. ok naman po ung inner hard shell nya, buong-buo pa din po sir. anyway, maraming salamat po sa advice sir. ride safe always!:clap:

are you talking about the removable liner or the styrofoam inner shell? if it is the removable liner i'm sure you can get it through the internet, you can check out www.motorcyclesuperstore.com i'm sure they have it. but if you're talking about the inner shell then you can put it in your motorcyle display case and padlock it. there's nothing you can do if the inner shell gets deteriorated.
