View Full Version : How about a riding course during next year's MCP CDO Convention

I read from Kicker2 in the ASHFALT Part I Region-10 forum that MCP will hold its convention next year here in Cagayan de Oro. A convention is a big event. I would like to propose that one of the activities will be a two-day rider's course / MSF course / riding academy because this is badly needed citing the spate of road accidents involving motorcycles. Just this weekend, three died when two motorcycles met head-on in Marcos Bridge; one was riding under the influence of alcohol. We MCF forumers may practice safe riding but others who unfortunately lack knowledge or lack access to knowledge may inflect bodily injury and damage to property to themselves and to us.

This course would greatly benefit us. To ease the cost of sponsoring a the course, we can ask for grants and sponsorships. An undertaking like this that will save lives will surely be sponsored. I am a member of a professional organization and was President last year. Every year, we have a seminar and we ask for grants, sponsorships, and partnerships and we get helped.

How about it?

That's a good suggestion !!! The number of accidents involving motorcycles has gone up. Everyone must work hand in hand to make this happen!!! COUNT ME IN!!!

i'll talk to Jeff Rolida, President of Kagayan Kruizers...he is also the current President of the National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs of the Phils. which is another reason why CDO will be the host for the next convention....

i'll keep you guys posted....

part of the prep is inviting related authorities like LTO, RTA, TMG & PNP Traffic to give a free seminars to motorcyclists. we have discussed this alongst with other proposals & concerns with MCFP prex jeff rolida already and he seemed amenable with the idea considering some top honchos of the RTA, PNP & TMG being members of KK of which jeff is also the president. we have the leverage...

re the riding course as proposed by FTR, i think it is ok being a part of the annual convention program. currently, jeff is soliciting OUR help to organize, mobilize and promote the national convention. so if you guys have a sound suggestion and/or proposal like FTR's, please feel free to post it here or PM me or NSCB.

Thanks for your replies! It's nice to hear that activities towards this end has already been started. Mura'g madayon gyud ni! :)

Siguro, e-pattern sya sa Motorcycle Safety Foundation Riding Course (http://www.msf-usa.org/; Honda Riding Academy http://www.hondaph.com/academy/courses; Advanced Motorcycle Training http://www.advancedmotorcycletraining.com/; and other riding courses. Two day siguro nga course, first day will be Basic Rider Course then the second day will be the Experienced Rider Course. Maayo pod unta kung naay Basic Motorcycle Troubleshooting. Maayo siguro e held ang training one a big parking lot or in a newly built subdivision that is still unoccupied but the roads are already constructed so that the real street environment can be replicated. Mag himo nalang 'ta ug mockup street signs, signages, etc. Then we will need one or more big trapal tent for the lectures, film showing and related equipment and a loud trompa para madungog sa layo kung unsa ang instructions/lessons.

Proposed committees:
-Marketing Committee (streamers, posters, radio/TV/cable plugs, flyers)
-Documentation & Invitation Committee (prepares letters of invitation, letters asking sponsorship, preparation of certificates, photo documentation, dissemination of completed project in forums, e-groups, etc.)
-Physical Arrangement (set-up of venue for the training, preparation of equipment to be used
-Sourcing and Linkages Committee
-Officers (Treasurer, Auditor, Secretary)

@freetoroam

we hope to address your suggestions in the forthcoming organizational meeting. i am still not at liberty to give you confirmation on this but i'll see what i can do. like i mentioned earlier, we are aiming to go further in terms of community-related activities especially continuing motoring education through the local supports of the different agencies concerned.

@ barbie

yep... never a day of absence! :D

In today's Phil. Daily Inquirer Motoring section, p. B8:

Riding school to open next month

Excerpts: Scheduled to be finished next month, the HSDC (Honda Safety Driving Center) will rise on a 2.4-hectare property located at Km 17 South Super Highway, Paranaque. [ang layo] ...one of the state-of-the art riding/driving schools in the world..

With this center, the incorporators expect more Filipinos to strictly obey traffic rules and road safety precautions... In Metro Manila alone, motorcycle accidents average more than 80 fatalities annually.

hmmm.. ok ko ani mga sir, peru mas nindot unta ug apil sad mga jeepny driver dri sa cdo hatagan ug driving course kay grabe ni sila ka abusado and isa sila naka pa traffic sa cdo. and dri rasad ko kita sa cdo nga walay paki mga driver, maski ma dakpan RTA ok ra gyapon ticket rana mao ingon sa kadaghanan.. and dapat sa LTO must be strict in giving license sa mga nag apply dapat naa gyud sakto seminar.. lisud kaayo sa ato na part na motorista nga kita ga amping nya sa atong palibot walay pag amping.. so dapat na sila ma disiplina.. ive been to many places in the phil. but you can only find deranged drivers and oxymoron only in cagayan. heheh peace out!!

In today's Philippine Daily Inquirer: "Spate of motorbike accidents alarms DOH" p. A15. Excerpts: The DOH yesterday exrpressed alram over the growing mortality rate in motorcycle accidents... We should be alarmed by the statistics. ...23.60%... the DOH and the WHO were promoting the use of helmets... Road safety is a must with 3.5 million motorcycles in the country... Unless we do something, the fatalities in motorcycle accidents could double by 2020...
