guys i just want to post this to learn something about helmets. which would be better lightweight fiber glass shell copmposition or ABS composite shell? all i know about helmet is that as long as it is DOt or ECE rated it is a good quality helmet. how would the shell compisiton affect the helmets purpose i.e to protect our head? thanks in advance

Hello there!
From what I've learned in the past few years, there are 3 major types of helmet shell materials:
1) ABS or plastic composite
2) Fiberglass composite
3) Carbon/Kevlar composite
In terms of price, plastic is cheapest, fiber costs more, and carbon is most expensive. In terms of safety, plastic offers basic protection, while fiber, and then Carbon offer better shock absorption. In terms of comfort, plastic is usually heavier, then fiber lighter, then carbon lightest.
If you prefer a Snell version helmet (needs thicker shell), I would suggest you get at least a helmet with fiber shell.
ECE 22.05 is also very strict (you can see ECE certificate in the strap) but shell is usually thinner thus lighter but EPS foam inside harder. Testing method is different from Snell, different way of thinking.
DOT should be good enough for all but be careful make sure what you are getting is authentic because many helmet makers cheat on this standard.

so fiber would be better than ABS and carbon/kevlar is the best. meeting in both ends, in terms of protection and price, fiber would be of good choice. thanks again bro

Sorry at pati helmet standards na mention ko pa sa thread although OT na pala hehe.
Yes, so basically, what I meant was ...
Carbon > Fiber > ABS/Plastic
