Team Honda's Ricky Carmichael lost his first AMA National moto since the end of the 2001 season today at Hangtown, dropping the first race of the day after 27 straight moto wins to Factory Connection Honda rider Kevin Windham. But Carmichael rebounded for the win in the second moto after Windham crashed early, and the six-time AMA National MX Champion went on to win his 17th straight national dating back to Washougal '01.
In doing so, Carmichael also tied Jeremy McGrath's once-thought-to-be unbreakable record of 89 all-time wins in U.S. National and AMA Supercross racing.

rebg May 20th, 2003, 06:08 PM In the 250 class Kevin Windham is the first person to beat Ricky Carmichael in a national series moto since September 2, 2001. The 250 class overall results looked like this: Carmichael, Reed, Ferry and Windham. In the 125 Ryan Hughs won both motos for the overall win followed by Sorby and Brown. Injury update: Billy Laninovich, James Stewart, Branden Jesseman, and Travis Preston are all out with injuries.

SKYGO Racing May 21st, 2003, 06:32 AM a lady mx rider??? PAMINTUAN?:? IS SHE A FILIPINA?
jrot May 21st, 2003, 07:31 AM yep skygo she's filipina racing the women's pro class. Thanks rebg, RC had nothing on windham the first moto. Windham got the wholeshot and lead the whole way while carmichael started around 5th and moved to second around the 3rd or 4th lap. Windham pretty much pulled away from RC no matter how hard RC rode. If anyone could give RC fits its Windham too bad he crashed twice the second moto, first while battling with Reed for the lead and second somewhere around the top 10. RC passed Reed after 2 laps and pretty much dominated like he usually does. Didnt see all of the second moto I wanted to get out of there before the whole place leaves cause I wasn't on planning on waiting for 2 hours sitting in the parking lot just trying to get out.
The 125 class was pretty fun too with Hughs, Brown and Sorby just going at it for bought moto's. Hughs was just railing it with Sorby coming so close to passing him at the last lap of the second moto.
The track was pretty awesome with all the uphills and downhills and pretty rough with breaking bumps as high as 2 to 3 feet on the bottom of the hills and deep ruts around the corner. It was amazing seeing the speed these riders where generating around the course. I've riden and raced at this track and its not an easy track to ride on and to watch these guys ride was just amazing. And mind you the girls where freaken fast too. My ankle is still shot because of that damn track!
SKYGO Racing May 21st, 2003, 07:37 AM I THOUGHT SO BECAUSE HER NAME RINGS A BELL. I THINK SHE WAS THE ONE I SAW AT THE BATANGAS INVITATIONAL MX WAY BACK 1997. SEEING HER DO THE DOUBLES MADE ME THINK "WHAT IF SHE WAS A MAN?" GOSH!!!
TNX JROT FOR THE INFO:)
jrot May 21st, 2003, 08:27 AM She was going good. But she was not at the same level as some of the other girls. That german chick who won would have probably qualified for the men's race with the way she was going.
Still I would give her all the props for going out there and racing. That track was not easy at all.

SKYGO Racing May 21st, 2003, 08:45 AM REALLY? WELL, I STILL THINK IF I RACE AGAINST HER IN THAT TRACK, SHE'D OVERLAP MO 2 TO 3 TIMES. THAT'S IF I GET TO FINISH THE RACE WITHOUT PASSING OUT.:)
TNX AGAIN JROT
mxvet May 22nd, 2003, 04:08 AM All right, now we 've got West coast coverage! Excellent pics!
Good to see Ryno win. I remember when he was here two years ago, he was testing the then new Honda CRF450. He crashed hard, bending a banner pole ( I hope you can see it in the background of this pic).
mxvet May 22nd, 2003, 04:11 AM Well, I guess that didn't work... how about now?
