I just want to share this to you guys Ive read this morning that Chairman Bayani Fernando issued a directive to all Local Govt Units to destroy (wasakin is the term used in the newspaper) all air horns public/private. He said that air horns is one source of noise pollution.

noise pollution lang yun kung palaging ginagamit. ang busina hindi naman dapat palaging ginagamit e. mga pilipino lang ang mahilip sa busina, ewan ko ba kung bakit.

dapat isama rin yung mga naka-siren hindi naman pulis, ambulansya, o kaya bombero. :rolleyes:

the chairman said that the buses are using their loud horns to attract passengers, there is a rule that horns should not be used sa mga loading and unloading zones. Im not sure if motorcycles with air horns are included in this directive.

hulihin din yung driver! bawal na ngang gamitin yung air horn, ginagamit pa rin.

hopefully, hindi damay ang mga bikes dyan. one of the best defenses a biker has is his horn. kung air horn o kaya kung malakas na busina, madaling marinig, madaling makita yung bike. and we all know how important visibility is.

The crackdown is only on PUVs.

This will include those annoying, loud bus air-horns and those funny jeepney horns e.g. "Ha....Ha....hahaha" horns.

I just dunno how they are going to do this. This will be very subjective and prone to argument. They should have a decibel meter. :D

As with the sirens, there is an outstanding law against the illegal use of those. But then again, implementation is the big question (redundant).

Over-use of horns is endemic to the Filipinos. It's like bagoong and tuyo, truly pinoy. I once was almost gunned down in Texas because of honking my horn one-time-too-many.

Be careful especially in Texas. Everyone has a gun.

yeah, i've heard of pinoys getting in trouble in the good old US of A because of their penchant for pressing the horn button.
