I was fortunate to be able to purchase a Zeus Tank Bag from Ryan last night. It was the medium size with expandable capability. I cant say what a pleasure it was to finally be rid of using a knapsack. I’ve been trying to use all kinds of special knapsacks from Eiger and Northface but the discomfort, heat, and lack of balance is always there. And when I ride two on, my passenger ends up carrying the knapsack or I have to bungee cord the bag to my tank (any of which are not good options).
As a daily commuter (100kms @day), I soon realized the many benefits of the tank bag, changing clothes on the fly, accessing your cellfone, lalagyan ng pansit at siopao, groceries etc. Getting in and out of establishments is also very easy, no more bungee cords to unsnap just lift the magnetic flaps and lift by the handle, my clothes are also less rumpled. A transparent map case is also at the top of the bag…pero tingin ko ang ilalagay ko doon are print outs of the LTO violations, guidelines sa check point and the docs for use of the SLEX para no more fumbling for them…pag may maling sita…its very easy to point out the rulings…..
I also noticed that the magnets are also quite strong so the pack does not shift even when accidentally hit by your knee or something…. The bottom of the bag…. And magnets are encased in a rubberized kind of material so no worries about your paint job. The bag also has straps which will enable you to use the tank bag as a tail bag….but riding in metro manila… this would be a very pad option….I’m sure you will soon find the bag empty….
All in all I think these tank bags are a good buy and a good idea…. The only thing I think I would need (since I’m a daily commuter) is a dust cover so that the bag will not get damaged/ dirty too early on and this I can have easily made…..
