Guys,
does anyone tried to removed your helmet paint? coz i want to DIY my helmet... any recommendation of what kind of particular brand of paint and also what kind of paint removal should i buy?... Now i'm using HJC CL12 helmet

and also is it okay to use this paint in can like Bosny, RJ,or Nippon PYLOX i dont have any idea about this paint please assist me. thanks in advance

it is ok painting your helmet as long as you have to be careful not to get anythin into the vents of the helmet. helmet liners are made of styrofoams and spray paint are acrylic based and it can melt styrofoams. if you are going to paint your helmet apply clear coat to it so that it will not scratch up easily.

check mo rin ang manufacturers recommendation and manuals...some manufacturers strongly advise not to have a helmet repainted or won't even allow stickers to be placed on it...depende kasi yan sa materials used for its shell....

DOT and SNELL certified helmet manufacturers do not advise riders to repaint or put stickers into their helmets for SAFETY reasons.

I say a small sticker would not be a threat but repainting the whole thing might have a significant effect on the durability of the product.

Of course, we are free to do anything we want to our helmets (or bikes) because we own them already. However, the way we follow the helmet manufacturers precautions shows everybody how much we value our heads. It also shows how we value our life and our love ones. A little damage to our brains can either kill or at least paralyze us.

the latter is the best thing to do bro... painting your helmet by a professional would cost you money, so you might as well save up the money and get a new one.=)

I've read a lot of posts saying that helmet repainting is not advisable because of the adverse effects of the paint on the material of the helmet.
What if I simply spray over the original paint? Would it still harm the plastic underneath the original paint? (ofcourse,given that I have properly sealed the vents to protect the foams inside)

ask overdoze, you might want to consider airbrush instead.

i wouldnt suggest repainting helmet. it will only jeopardize the durability of your helmet. just buy a new one.

kung para lang mag mukhang bago ulit ang helmet buy a new one na nga
not unless matyaga kang mag liha ng 1000 ang gamit and sanay ka na bumaga ng bosni, then it might take note might turn out cheaper, but for the effort of liha ewan ko if you'll think its worth it

ok ang airbrush if your goal is to have your helmet as your signiture,yung tipong wala kang kapareha and when people see you alam nilang ikaw yon even with the helmet on.

dude I think it is not a good idea to paint your helmet both my shoei and my hjc strongly states that painting your helmet might damage the polystyrene liner inside even from the fumes of paint. better safe than sorry a decent helmet would only set you back 2k plus your brains priceless.

Coz it's a new helmet worth around 8t, and I dropped it when I left it at the tank of my bike (stupid mistake!). An area got scratched, actually some bits of paint got chipped.

bro look on the brighter side, d mo na sya kelangn pag ingatan ule. madalas yan e, kung ano ung ingat n ingat ka un ang nagagasgas or nahuhulog (parang celfone) pero kung ano pa ung d mo pinapansin ung ang tumatagal. buy a new helmet n lng and make your scratched helmet your spare one for everyday use.

dude kung gasgas lang ng helmet, mas ok kung lagyan mo na lang ng sticker. basta wag lang mababasag yun lense ng helmet mo. to protect your eyes. tapos maglagay ka na lang ng ID holder (yun tali) para isasabit mo sa leeg mo if ever, para di mahuhulog. try mo. effective. mas risky kasi kung isasabit lang sa manibela ng motor.

or you can use Pylox to ceover the area affeted if you really would like to make look clean

Yeah good point. Naisip ko na baka ako lang nakakapansin nung scratch since from afar di naman halata.

Naalala ko tuloy when my friend dropped his helemt also, and one of the vents got mis-aligned. He was realy pissed, and I told him, "Ikaw lang nakakapansin na mis-aligned yan!"
