View Full Version : Siren or Wang wang na Horn saan meron?
elaz January 5th, 2004, 10:01 PM Mga Bro,
San ba meron nito? Im not actually looking for Police/Ambulance/Fire siren bawal yun diba. Yung something that sounds like it lang tsaka maliit lang baka kasi di kumasya so loob ng scoot. Ang hina at di kasi pinapansin yung horn ko eh. Magkano kaya?
Salamat:)
spdfgtr January 5th, 2004, 10:39 PM forget about the wang wang. Bawal yun kung wala kang neccessary docs. here are some car horns that are really loud and can fit the fairing of your SF. Most are available sa nearest car accessory shop and they can easily install them for you at an additional cost of Php150.00 or so. Dont bother with those horns that are Php500.00 kasi sandali lang yan sira na not to mention the sound that it produces is paranag nagmamakaawa ka tumabi yung binubusinahan mo.
here are some of the horns that ive persoanlly tried and tested (both sa car and bikes) that are sure to gain the attention of those pedestrians and other motorists.
1. Hella Supertone Horns. Hi and low inc relay (Php1.450T). good price/performance.
2. Bosch Bolino horns. Hi and low inc relay (Php1.250T) original horn of the Benz first gen C-Class models.
For the price/performance pwede na itong dalawang models na ito but to gain MORE respect sa kalye read on....
3. Bosch Horns. (Benz type) Hi and low inc relay (Php2T). The most popular model sa mga car afficionados. Pati mga owner jeepney naka ganito na din. Medyo madaling mawala sa tono pag nabasa pero im sure it wont be a problem since it will be inside the fairings.
4. Bosch Europa. Hi and Low inc relay. (Php3.250T) The biggest AND loudest pair of horns from the Bosch line that I was able to retrofit inside the fairing of an Aprilia scooter (super dami lang ng mods para kumasya). pare pati bus tumatabi dito sa busina na ito sa lakas.
5. Stebel Horns. super lakas and super liit nito. PM Skootriska for the price and where he got it kasi sya pa lang ang meron nito na alam ko.
You cant go wrong with having the loudest horn coz the benefits far outweigh the disadvantage (w/c is cost).
pongki_shawie January 6th, 2004, 02:08 AM wow nice post hec...readily avai naman to sa banawe right? :)
GIANT XTR January 6th, 2004, 08:40 AM sa DEKA marami din :D :D

Frank Woolf January 6th, 2004, 11:03 AM For your info:
Starting yesterday (Jan 5th) there is a clamp down on illegal sirens and horns. TMG will be stopping vehicles and confiscating the illegal sirens and horns.
elaz January 6th, 2004, 11:19 AM Wasted,
Correct si Sir Frank. I myself feel iritated when some iligit users of this sirens are tailing me....parang ikaw mwahahaha!. I will stick to other tones na lang polyphonic kung meron hehehe:D

there you go guys. enough reason why you shouldnt install and use a wang wang on your bikes. avoid the hassle and be good responsible citizens. enough of that " ako muna mauna kasi may wang wang ako" crap.
elaz
Concorde's prices are kinda high pa. if you want to get the best deal for those horns then I suggest you try Banawe. make sure you know how to remove the front fairing of your bike and tell the installer to utilize the relay included in the package. Get the Hella supertones dude.

let me correct you on that bro., i always use the frog horn... kaya ko lang ginagamit ang siren e kapag oovertake at nararamdaman ko na d ako/kami padadaanin o lalo pang tutulinan ng ibang mga konyong cager.... siguro me experience na rin kayo na ganun. i also make it a point to be a responsible rider, and not the type to use wang-wang para lagi mauuna:D ... btw, i know it's illegal kaya, nag iisip na akong tanggalin at baka matsambahan pa ko hehehe:)
wanna buy????:D
reekee98 January 6th, 2004, 12:13 PM Elaz, I'm using a BOSCH horns di ba narinig mo yung horn ng big boy ko....hella is a good choice also....lapit lang ako dito sa banaue just tell me kung anong type ng horn ang gusto mo and kailangan empre padala mo sa akin pambili
oj88 January 6th, 2004, 12:43 PM Keep this thread going. I'm also looking for a good horn for my Steed. The Hella Supertones are huge, even on a cruiser. Any models that are dual-tone but with a diameter significantly smaller than the Supertones?
mark040477 January 6th, 2004, 12:47 PM How abt the "La Cu Curacha" Horn... anyone knows where I can get one and how much?
TIA! :)

bro., air horn ata un e.. nakakakita ako nyan mostly sa mga auto supply.
spdfgtr January 6th, 2004, 02:54 PM mark
why settle for that horn? get the lauging horn instead. Yung parang Parlor Queen na tumatawa. The one that goes "AAhhh Haa Haa Haaa!". Minibus agad ang dating mo dude.
Oj88
try the Stebel Horn. Its one of the smallest that I have seen and the output is oh so loud..just the way I like em. The diameter is significantly smaller than the Supertones and its colored flat black. It will not stick out like a sore thumb when you mount it on your Steed. PM Skootriska for the price and where he got it.
Frank Woolf January 6th, 2004, 04:53 PM I believe the law says it is illegal to use anything other than the original horn but I doubt if anyone will get booked for just using better ones. In the racket of Manila traffic most standard motorcycle horns are useless.
v22 January 6th, 2004, 05:03 PM i saw some stebel horns like scootriska is using in an auto supply shop near us, price is 900++ lang ata........
spdfgtr is right! malakas nga yun, parang TREN!!! :D

70 dB is the point at which noise begins to harm hearing (EPA). To the ear, each 10 dB increase seems twice as loud...another knowledge power for me.
cool OJ thanks for the links.
oj88 January 13th, 2004, 02:55 PM Just got back from Banawe. I bought and installed a pair of Stebel TM-80 Magnum horns on the Steed and whoa!! They ARE loud!
I got them for P850 including installation. But all in all, I spent about 950 including the harnessing, fuse holder, relay connector, and a generous tip for the technician. (He really had a hard time working on the bike).
Next on the list:
Earplugs :D hehehe

Very compact ba yung size?
Do you think it will fit in my joyride?
elaz January 13th, 2004, 06:48 PM OJ,
Can you share us the basic dimension (LxWxH) of that Horn. Tsaka bakit kailangan pang mag lagay ng relay di ba pwede gamitin yung existing (kung meron) na relay. Di ba yan as simple as removing the stock horn make a and parallel wire for both new(high and low pitch) horn.
Hanap ko sana eh yung 1pc lang I think I dont have enough room for two kc eh. Ano ba sa mga horns na metioned below ang 1pc lang?
:)
v22 January 13th, 2004, 07:21 PM pagkakaalam ko 1pc lang yung stebel???, ung ke scootrska 1 pc lang, same as the one selling near my place.....
oj88 January 13th, 2004, 08:35 PM Guys,
I'll check the dimensions and post them here later. (I'm still at my client ... sshhhhh ;))
Sorry for not being little more specific. The model I bought consists of a pair of Stebel Magnum horns (high+low).... apptly called "Magnum 2". They look exactly as the picture I sent a few posts earlier.
I'll take a pic of how it is fitted on my Steed as soon as possible and post it here.
Elaz,
You need to put a relay so that your horn switch don't wear out. The Stebels' are a tad bit more power-hungry than the single "glorified buzzer" that came with my Steed. Without a relay, the switch will have to control an electrical current larger than it was designed to handle. Also, the wires connected to the OEM horn may be too small to handle the load requirements of the new horns.
Here's a diagram I got from http://www.fjrtech.com/getdbitem.cfm?item=24 that shows how to wire the new horns. Note that the horns on this site is called the "Magnum Blaster". But from the pic, it looks exactly like the Stebel Magnum 2 I bought.
http://www.fjrtech.com/images/electrical/horn_schema.jpg
MGee January 13th, 2004, 08:39 PM yup, unless may oem relay siya. i just replaced the horn of the dragster with a pair of hella ( the smallest because of space limitation) nice and decently loud naman ang tunog, parang MB, and i used a relay. i guess ron is correct in saying that aside from the inreased level of sound the tonal value of a comb low and hi note is much better than a single horn
wasted_23 January 13th, 2004, 08:49 PM i almost burned my horn switch when i installed my wang2 w/out relay. good thing my technician noticed it. and yes, oj was right about the orig wire size, it can burn/overload w/out the relay.
elaz January 13th, 2004, 10:19 PM Actually Im quite familiar with relays infact I did install relays in some occasions like for fog light, head light and horns of my jeep. With this, I though relays are standard for horns (be it cars, truck or scooter). Ibig nyo bang sabihin, sa motor or scooter mas tipical na walang relay yung mga buzzer type, OEM horn kesa sa meron?
Pero siguro yung mga single horn pwde na wala relay o dipende rin sa wattage?
Imagine you bought 100K+ worth of bike or scoot tapos busina na lang iuupgrade mo pa.......Hmmm....its bwisit ha.
OJ,
Thanks for that wirring diagram! I guess this is the typical Bosh relays. This saves me from stabbing at the dark the next time Ill be installing relays.
Me kasama na bang Mounting/Bracket yung horn na nabili mo? kasi kung isa lang yung existing OEM horn,ka- kailanganin mo pang gumawa ng braket.

Since most of the OEM horns are small enough to cause any strain on the horn circuit, some bikes, by design, no longer require a horn relay.
However, like putting in a halogen fog lamp on a car, a bigger horn would require a relay as well.
And about upgrading the OEM horns. For all intended reasons, the OEM horn is ok for "typical" applications. But since we live in a concrete jungle we call "Metro Manila", it helps to have louder horns. Luho ko lang ito, bro. :)
And yes, it comes with 4 mounting brackets.

liquid cooled ba Joyride mo? (not familiar e). If no then im sure mounting space wont be a problem. If yes then you can always screw the horns dyan sa OGK helmet mo...pwede mo pa
ma-direct yung direction ng horn blast di ba?

The Php600T plus brand new Honda City has a single horn that no PUV driver will ever respect. Dont worry about the mounting clearance of your scoot's front fairing. Tried and tested ko na yan...it will fit a lot of high and low tone horns with ease. The relay is very important.

The horn's dimension is about 80mm (dia.) x 70mm (depth, including mounting bolt).
You may check out this horn at http://stebel.it
Click on "Products" then hover your mouse pointer over to the automobile icon (leftmost) then select "TM 80 Magnum Series". From there, you can see the specs and a sound sample of the horn itself.

oj88 January 29th, 2004, 05:36 PM :D :D :D I had to smile and write this... I'm very satisfied with the new horn I installed. I really do get results when I blast at cagers who abruptly swerve into my lane.... PUVs especially. Buses also respond by swerving back to its lane.
Hehehe, makes me grin everytime I hit the horn button. :D :D
Now my cheeks hurt more than my hearing.

nice to know that your investment is paying off everytime you hit that button :D . Ingat lang bro coz sometimes there are moron drivers who are totally oblivious to other motorists.
