A few weekends ago, while driving down Adkins Boulevard, my husband and I saw ahead of us two motorcycle cops with their blue lights flashing.
We slowed down and as we approached an intersection, we saw two more motorcycle cops, as well as a police car with flashing lights. They were all trailing a large bus.
We remarked how it must be the police escorting a busload of football players since there was a football game in town that weekend, but we wondered why it took so many cops to escort a bus.
As traffic moved along, we got close enough to read the bold letters written on the side of the bus: "Mayor's Pride Ride."
With crime running rampant in Jackson, it seems to me that we need as many police available to be on neighborhood patrol, rather than playing security for a "Pride Ride."
Where are our priorities? Who cares who's riding around on a tour of Jackson with the mayor?
Evidently, according to what I saw, it seems more important to the mayor.
How sad.
