View Full Version : new enduro, supermoto helmets
R-1 November 10th, 2006, 06:55 PM http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/arai-xd/
has anyone seen these kinds of helmets for sale here?
I wish other brands like zeus and hjc would start making these so it would be more affordable. As of now they cost ten times more than my zeus.
This helmet would be perfect for those who dont like wearing goggles or those who find full face street helmets too hot.
boylit November 10th, 2006, 08:02 PM pipoy sells those... 21k or something in that range... ask for a discount...
you into motards now???
R-1 November 10th, 2006, 09:01 PM Hi Boylit, no just into the motard helmet hehe.
was also thinking of using a mountainbike full-face helmet for trailing on my xr200. that would be much cooler and lighter than a motocross helmet. The ones by sixsixone look good :)
boylit November 10th, 2006, 09:47 PM hehehe... i like the helmet too but people tell me they're real noisy at speed (street riding)... as for the trails, i still prefer goggles as it prevents dust from getting into my eye...
downhill helmets seem cool... haven't tried them yet... i've taken up mt. biking the past months and have not done serious downhilling yet...
R-1 November 11th, 2006, 08:13 AM I rarely go over 100kph on my xr so the noise might not be a problem, and i often wear earplugs too. On my streetbike i wear a proper street helmet.
I also want to go back mountainbiking which i started doing 10 years ago.
R-1 December 17th, 2006, 03:03 PM Just discovered hjc makes enduro style helmets. I wonder if they have this at triumph in caloocan. Other helmet brands that make supermoto helmets are arai, airoh, bmw, even afx has a similar one but its a snow helmet. I predict all major brands will soon be making these.
I am after the ventilation of the supermoto helmet. full face street helmets are hot! and i dont want to bother with goggles on an off road helmet.
heres the hjc cl-xs...
R-1 December 17th, 2006, 03:36 PM heres the Airoh Tyger...
ngas_u December 19th, 2006, 07:04 AM nice pic sir R-1... k oz racing(chino roces, makati) po meron airoh tyger helmet(14k more or less)..nakita kona po sir......sir may idea po b kyo ng quality nito??? kc i`ve checked it out pro di po ako convinced... parang sub-standard po construction(pls correct me if im wrong)
Blueblaze December 19th, 2006, 07:23 AM galing ng visor niya... parang piloto... yun nga lang sa dirtbike at hindi sa eroplano...
odr333 January 22nd, 2007, 06:55 AM sir r-1 available nb d2 stin ung hjc cl-xs???
R-1 January 22nd, 2007, 02:00 PM sir r-1 available nb d2 stin ung hjc cl-xs???
odr333, im still looking for these kind of helmets.
ngas-u, thanks for the tip, i will check out oz racing when i get the chance.
I havent seen an airoh helmet in person, but i think they are italian-designed. the design of italian products are usually unique and beautiful.
the visor/peak/sunshade of motocross helmets is very useful for shading your eyes from the sun and even for bright oncoming headlights at night. But usually hemets with a sunshade dont have a facesheild.
heres a picture of my open face hjc with a visor and face sheild. its my favorite among my many helmets. the only thing lacking is a chin guard. thats why im looking for the new enduro styled helmets
Ibba January 22nd, 2007, 04:00 PM OOOOOoooooh I really want one. These type of helmets are perfect from my GS 650. Keep me in the loop for when the HJC ones come in. Thanks to Boylit I've recently been bitten by the off road bug, and my bike isn't that fast top speed is 165kph so noise shouldn't be too much of an issue. I really like my off-road O'neal helmet, great peripheral vision and really comfy.
boylit January 22nd, 2007, 04:52 PM i'm also waiting for eddie to bring that in... i've changed my zeus dirt helmet for an hjc cl-x5 recently...
odr333 January 23rd, 2007, 07:12 AM musta po sir boylit???i`ve heard so much frm ur (riding) exploits(kudos to u!!!)and the pleasure of miting u in person(marilaque)!!!(sa wakas)..thanks for guiding us in antipolo after we met in marilaque(u askd my friend wer he bought his blak arai x-d pa nga...remember?)...sir kelan po ky available d2 yang hjc cl-xs??

mxr223 February 5th, 2007, 11:38 AM R1 - Meron akong mga motocross gear na for sale. its in the classified section. take a look at it kung ma gustohan mo. thanks.
pepe1275 February 5th, 2007, 02:07 PM i have been mountainbiking for years before i took up motorcyling and down hill helmets are soo airy because of all the vents but the thing is that it's chin is not as strong as compared to motorcycle helmets and even some enduro style helmets are not approved by dot for street use. dirt is more forgiving than asphalt or cement and the speed you carry on the street is different than on the track, turbulence would try to lift your helmet visor and strain your neck on the long run.
R-1 February 5th, 2007, 08:47 PM thanks mxr223, ill check it out.
pepe, i was spared from serous head injury by a bell bike helmet when i was hit by a vehicle on my mountainbike 10yrs ago., broke my collarbone and cracked the helmet through. bike(totalled) ended up UNDER the overturned vehicle, i was thrown clear, i had road rash the size of a plate on my thigh.. it was just an ordinary bike helmet, not a downhill one. im lucky it wasnt a face plant.
heres a pic of me wearing a full face bicycle helmet and a vest, taken with a k750i cellphone and blurred the background w photoshop.
i plan to use this hemet and vest when i go trail riding my xr200. ill also bring goggles along.
Its very comfortable and cool and airy :)
I know both the helmet and vest arent designed for serious motorcyle dirt riding but..any opinions on how it looks?
I have been on rides where i thought i was going to fall over from heat exhaustion, so i think this helmet will take care of that.
pepe1275 February 6th, 2007, 05:56 AM that's great that the helmet took all the blunt.... i can attest on the downhill body armor, to me i think it is even better than a joe rocket jacket as it has heavy padding and really hugs your body. i was a downhill racer once and have used my 661 downhill helmet on motorcycle riding for short rides but i wouldn't trust it with my life though.=)
boylit February 6th, 2007, 07:57 AM thanks mxr223, ill check it out.

that body armor can take a beating and, i agree with pepe, is much better than the mesh stuff at absorbing dirt falls...
dunno about the helmet, though... i prefer the security of a full mx helmet...
R-1 February 6th, 2007, 11:09 AM Hi Boylit, Hmm.. i agree with you on the helmet.
When the weather is cool, like it is these days, a real full face motorcycle helmet wouldnt be uncomfortabley hot. Myabe i should reserve the downhill helmet for the really hot summer trail rides :)
pepe, when i was racing mtb cross country veterans category about 8 years ago i saw a group of manila downhill riders take the top places here in bacolod. It seemed to me they could ride their bikes faster than motorcycles!
who knows maybe you were one of them?? :)
pepe1275 February 6th, 2007, 02:23 PM dude i' from iloilo, i raced there about three years ago i forgot the name of the place but i placed 6th after a nasty spill from the practice run dislocated my left soulder and hyperextended my left hand. i was riding a blue and white giant ac air. sometimes those with the expert category they can ride faster than a motorcycle... but the case is that a downhill bike only weighs about 40 - 45 lbs if that bike hits you on your head a downhill helmet can protect you easy but a motorcycle can crush that helmet. but the body armor has more protection than my joe rocket reactor and ballistic combined. i wish i didn't let go of my downhill stuff.
R-1 June 23rd, 2007, 07:45 AM I finally found a supermoto/enduro style helmet for less than p3000 brand new. Its made by index. pictures to follow :)
been to pipoy's bike plaza in makati and the enduro helmets there still cost p22,000
R-1 June 23rd, 2007, 04:09 PM got this today. Used it for 2 hours on my xr200 and I'm very satisfied with it so far. Finish and quality seem good for the price. There is some wind noise but for the xr's low top speed it doesnt bother me, and when i wear plugs its quiet. I like the face shield, it has a light tint that seems perfect, and can be used at night i think.
motoRESO June 28th, 2007, 08:12 PM nice helmet you got there sir, may I know kung saan shop nyo sya nabili?
thanks in advance,
motoRESO

R-1 November 15th, 2008, 10:19 PM I just saw your post jetzone. Anyway the index was around 2,800 here in bacolod. There are black, and blue colors. Hjc now makes supermoto helmets they go for p5k plus i heard. I will buy one if i get the chance and post pics here :)
xrmlifted November 18th, 2008, 05:35 PM Just discovered hjc makes enduro style helmets. I wonder if they have this at triumph in caloocan. heres the hjc cl-xs...
yap, triumph caloocan offers that model of HJC. i got mine for 6k.
hjc cl-xs helmet is a revolutionary 3-in-1 helmet..
remove the visor and it will transform into FULLFACE HELMET.. it looks like an ordinary hjc fullface..
remove the lense, and wear your goggles, can be use for OFF-ROAD/motocross!..
and for street use, no need to remove anything.. hehe
goodbuy for this kind of helmet.. much cheaper than the spyder, i think.
Removal liners, you can wash it easily.
pepe1275 November 18th, 2008, 07:09 PM nice helmet sir r-1.:)
