View Full Version : Resizing helmet pads
isawultra October 19th, 2006, 11:18 PM Bumili ako ng ICON Hooligan last week from US. They suggested XS.
So last resort yun.
kicker2 October 20th, 2006, 12:45 PM i think that's the best solution... bawasan ang pads.
yep, we've done some already... ang ginagawa nung 'chopper' namin dito sa probinsya eh ang binabawas yung interior side ng pad/foam, hindi yung nakikita na lumalapat sa pisngi natin. ang tabas eh ginagawa dun sa side ng foam where the doubletapes are. for one thing, it won't show any tampering after the work is done. ang pantabas eh should be a sharp cutter then finished with an electric grinder para pino...
am sure you can do it ;)

right. kaso no choice e. posted na nga for sale yung helm para bili na lang ako ng bago. kaso mukhang malabo mangyari yun. so ang pinaka mabuting paraan na lang is to shave off some of the pads.

kelan kaya punta yung chopper nyo dito sa manila? hehe. anyway, nagsearch ako sa internet kagabi, at may nakita akong cheek replacements ng ICON for Hooligans. It comes in sort of thickness (20-45mm ata). But the catch is, mas mahal pa ang shipping and taxes compared on the item itself. Its either, sabay ko na lang sa ibang padala... or tabasan yung padding ng helmet.
thanks for the replies!
isawultra October 20th, 2006, 12:55 PM btw, meron nakapagsabi sa akin sa kabilang thread na yung mga nagtitinda daw ng mga INDEX helms sa mga malls ay tumatanggap ng mga helmet repairs. ang pagkakalam ko is cracks yung inaayos nila (which is wrong) but its worth asking kung pwede sila mag fabricate ng thinner cheek padding for replacement.
Sana tumatanggap sila...
Payon Hunter October 20th, 2006, 02:12 PM its better to sell it and buy a new one na lang.

like i said... you can do it. and if you think you can't, try a reliable upholstery shop. promise... it's a very simple thing to do. i've seen & even done a few rehabs myself. not just shaving off foampads, mas madalas nga dito sa amin eh dinadagdagan pa ang foampads...
freewayjammer October 21st, 2006, 08:55 PM Sir, saan sa taytay yung repair shop sa taytay? can you provide me with complete directions kasi di ko kabisado ang taytay? ako naman gusto ko pakapalin ang padding kasi mejo lumuwag na ang index helmet ko. tnx
noelabc October 21st, 2006, 09:49 PM Manufacturers have computed the amount of material used in a certain impact (It's by design so it should be as it is..). Trimming the foam will not just comprimise the quality but your safety as well. IMHO. :)

that's uncontestingly true :)
but for instances that we really have an 'extra-ordinary' size head and when commercial helmets seem unfit, or when we really, really want a particular helmet but don't fit...i guess we need to be a little ingenious & inventive. IMHO also...

from c5-ortigas ext.. direcho ka lang ng ortigas ext hanggang dumating ka dun sa dulo na may fork (left antipolo, right taytay). take right. then direcho lang ulit hanggang dulo. may fork ulit, take the left side. around 1-2km.. makikita mo sa left yung R CYCLE shop ata. dalawa yun. yung una.. tindahan ng motor. yung pangalawa.. accessories. sa tabi yun ng RCBC bank and tapat ng Santiago Furniture.

on my part, its only the cheek pads. ICON offeres replacements for it in a range of thickness. based on that, ok lang siguro bawasan ng onti yung cheek paddings.
