View Full Version : Jacket? Body armor? Elbow pads?
merlin October 18th, 2006, 02:13 PM Hi. Newbie here. I read that some jackets come with back protectors, shoulder pads, chest protectors, elbow pads etc built in. What's the use of buying body armor if your jacket already has those? What's the best combination of protective gear you can buy? Around how much do those things cost?
Thanks!

oh.. Shaider, is that you?? :D :D :D
heheheh nice pic there buddy.
@threadstarter,
some buy jackets, some do buy body armors, and some buy both. it's your choice. some people prefer the jackets over the body armors, while some others prefer the body armors bcoz it is more lightweight, and cool (lots of air passage) to wear.
it's actually your choice which to buy, in any case, you wont go wrong choosing buying any. what is important is that we dont compromise safety when riding.
popoykid October 18th, 2006, 02:28 PM the last time i checked, body armors have sturdier protectors compared to jackets with pads.
and like sir juno said, it depends on the rider's preference. armors usually have a snug fit that some riders don't feel comfy with, although the mesh construction makes it cooler than a jacket. personally, i wear both (not at the same time, though). depends on the ride (destination, time of ride, etc). i use my armor for long rides, and colder weather (though the mesh is aircooled, the snug fit makes you uncomfy when you perspire during traffic). a lightweight jacket (with my scoyco protectors underneath) on sunny days.
either way, it's good to hear that you're considering safety first. ;-)
jsamlaguna October 18th, 2006, 02:28 PM @merlin
or Sir you may also consider fox racing armor like the one i'm wearing in my avatar.
ride safe, always!

johnarnel_08 October 19th, 2006, 03:08 PM there's a motoworld in d fort.. that's in front of shell and jollibee..
Doglegdon October 19th, 2006, 03:23 PM In these harder economic times I understand that keeping costs down is important, but it should never compromise safety, guys.
There was an advert for Bell helmets in a motorbike mag about 18 years ago, (Yup, I'm an old fart!), that I have never forgotten.
There was a cheap, old, made in China style, helmet and next to it a sparklingly polished Bell one, underneath in large print :- "If you've got a $10 head, wear a $10 helmet!"
I went out and bought a Bell one, at huge cost, 2 weeks later, a jeepney came out of a sidestreet and hit the rear of my Yam FZR 1000. I came off and landed on my head. I'm still here, old, unshaken and extremely glad I bought that Bell, I can tell you!
I now ride a Honda XRV 750, Nolan MotoX helmet, Brosch mesh jacket with removeable Kevlar armor elbows, shoulders and back plates, for easier washing. Brosch heavy duty jeans with Kevlar knee pads(also removeable) and Kevlar hip padding. I may look like an American football player with it on, but I feel secure, which will gives me more confidence to do the stuff I want to do.

helon2wheelz October 20th, 2006, 07:32 AM body armor are used by serious riders meaning racers. If you go on the race track and ride in high speed then you will need both the body armor and the your full body leathers. having a jacket with back protectors and shoulder paddings would be good for riding around the city. A jacket and armors only reduce the body injuries, it is not guarrantee to save you. for your peace of mind just wear a jacket to save your skin. Take it from me. I had broken bones and fingers with all the protection on. Always wear your LID!!
ryan October 20th, 2006, 07:39 PM I think body armors are nice because they provide the best ventilation but of course, it terms of looks, not everyone appreciates it. We have some older Pole Position body armors left and its only 2500 with removable back support.
By the way, we 2007 Pole Position Body Armors with much improved armor and material and its available now for 4500 pesos only.
We also have 2007 knee/shin, back, & elbow protectors in stock now. Quality and prices have improved alot and they are our economic line. New generation Komine knee/shin armor is also available as well. Check them out at Motoworld shops or ask your nearby dealers about it.

yella_1000 November 26th, 2006, 03:37 PM Query lang ha, yung mga MotoGP boys ba have body armor inside aside from their leathers (suit)?
