View Full Version : Better safe than sorry...
eimroda October 2nd, 2006, 04:38 PM Per observation here in CDO,
1- daghan kaayo ang gamotor nga ang helmet naa sa siko, nakasab-it sa motor, and worse wala jud helmet.
2- ang gisul-ob na helmet kanang para sa bike, hard hat, para sa skate board etc.
this has been a problem ever since. ang ato pud mga law enforcers gapasagdan lang nila, its either gitapulan or ignorant pud sila what are the proper helmet to wear and how to wear them. Daghan naman mga motorcycle organizations diri sa atoa, I hope mahatagan ni ug pagtagad for a better and safer rides...
dirty harry October 2nd, 2006, 06:23 PM talagang ganyan bro, just like here at dvo, nung una suot talaga ung helmet nang kalaonan, biglang nag lie low parang ningas kugon. sana our law should enforced 24 hrs. a day na walang patid, after all its for our own good.
ride safely!!!

bro, i understand your plight. this isn't just in CDO but i believe it's all over the country.
for one, there is no clearcut implementation of the law. second, it has become an 'accepted' sight (& practice) for riders without helmets. third, many riders simply don't like wearing one. fourth, even some authorities themselves don't wear one, so, papano na lang yan? lastly, DOT/SNELL certified helmets are very expensive that's why many are using hardhats, unpadded plastic caps & unprescribed helmets.
being safety advocates ourselves, let's keep the practice and show the riding public that, indeed, wearing helmet SHOULD be mandatory... when you ride a bike, wear a helmet.
NSCB October 3rd, 2006, 10:14 AM actually this was the very first lecture we had for the members of Xplorers CDO...since i want all our members to be aware of the importance of helmets, and we want the group to lead by example...
it's true the cerified helmets do cost a bit expensive...but can we really put a price tag on safety? i suppose even the P500 helmets can provide the rider protection (though not the same that the certified helmets can offer) as long as they're used by the riders properly....
so just like what kicker2 said...lets keep the practice...and hope that the mc riding public becomes aware of it's importance as far as their safety is concerned.

they are either the above mentioned ignorant ones or just the ABUSADOS in uniform... :g :I
aside from doing the practive ourselves, puede kaha na makahimo ta ug position paper, through the federation, then submit it to PROPER authorities? naa kaha'y mahitabo if buhaton nato na? wat u tnk?
NSCB October 3rd, 2006, 04:37 PM i hate to sound negative about this....but knowing how our politicians and authorities....malamang kung ma-implement man yan...ningas cogon nanaman...i suggest clubs and mc organization officers educate their members about this...and make it as a requirement...now if a lot of people are aware about it...magkakaroon na ng boses ang majority....

i guess so... i also believe that they are not exempted from the helmet law. i think the best thing that we should do is to continue wearing helmets & be vigilants ourselves. kung di naman natin sila kayang sitahin dahil nga mga unipormadong RTA/TMG/LTO/PNP na nagmomotor na walang helmet, let's try to keep our vigilance silent but threatening na lang.... say, kunan natin sila ng pix tapos sumbong natin ke tulfo! :D i mean, yes, let's make proper documentation and make a media exposure... cuz am sure the ones wearing the same uniform will just save their brothers from this kung sa kanila lang din tayo lalapit...
ang prob kase bro, even some members of the federation disrespect the helmet law... 'lam mo naman, bro... me mga napapasama talagang mga bulok na kamatis sa isang basket!

actually bro, it is a standing requirement for the federation membership. but you just can't get a hold on some who are really not up to it. meron talagang iba na kahit me helmet, di naman ginagamit. and it's not easy to reprimand them or even pansinin man lang kase they'll just look at you and probably think "so? anong paki mo?" -- believe me bro. i've had some share of that look myself! i just don't want to make an issue out of it kase nga it's an individual responsibility already.
but for our part, like i always say, let us continue to be safety advocates ourselves here in our city. let's ride around town, all clad with jackets & helmets & show the people that this is, indeed, how it is supposed to be!

nice idea bro! if i can take one, una kong i-post dito sa MCP hehehe :)

basta bro ha... yung kita ang plate number ng motor nila! sige bro... am sure bro NSCB is with us! gawin na lang natin tong individual vigilance... hirap kase kung dala natin ang federation or ang clubs kase baka tayo resbakan! :D
ok, guys! get you camera-phones ready all the time and let's start snapping!
