After a long ride I get headaches... 2 days nako may headache... must have been a helluva ride. :D

What can I say... nakakasawa man ulit ulitin... It's always a pleasure riding with SRC and SRC's honorary members.

Thanks you to our BSRC braders (Wolver et al) for taking time off from their busy schedules. Salamat braders till next ride.:D

My odometer clocked 784.7kms. With an average gas consumption of 36.6km/L. Estimate my gas to be 600 + PHP.

Saya ng kwentuhan sa Mt. Data. May mga friendly spirits pa.

Sarap ng twisties ng Marcos Hi-way and Halsema... diba Krizz?

Shibbydoo ayusin mo na rear master cylinder mo para wala kang reason bumitaw kapag naunahan ng raider.:D

Thanks to those who brought their cams. Nice pics.

Brief Introduction

The ride was organized for our OFW member Larry as he arrived last month and he will be leaving again on October 16, 2006. We combined this event; our anniversary ride and despedida ride for Larry.

Part I – The ride from Manila to Baguio

The group call time was 12:30am and take off time is at 1:00am. Meeting place is at Total Gas Station in Mc Arthur Highway. We are able to take off at 2am due to some latecomers and before we took off we had a small group prayer for the blessing of the ride. We took the dark Mc Arthur route going to Baguio and we made several stops to regroup. Also this is done to ensure that the riders are wide and awake during the ride to avoid any accident during the ride. It’s almost daybreak when we reached Moncada, Tarlac and group phasing increased from 70-80 to 80-100 phasing.

The final stop is at Shell, Rosario La Union prior ascending to Baguio via Marcos Highway route. We had our snack since it’s already 9:00am and at the same time we called up our fellow member Anthony (Wolver) who is based in Baguio to inform our current location so they (BSRC) can estimate our time of arrival in Baguio. As soon as we reached the top of Marcos Highway we have already seen the BSRC pointing the way and marshalling us to Shell Gas Station. We stayed at the Shell Gas Station for about 30 mins for a small rest at the same time we replaced the air filter of Daddy G’s scooter. After Shell we were brought to Marosan resto for a sumptuous lunch. The Marosan resto is owned and managed by Samm, one of BSRC member. Our lunch is pansit topped by sunny side up egg with fresh veggie during the lunch Wolver unleashed the specialty, the famous and delicious Chicken PINIKPIKAN soup. During the lunch we were introduced to Ding, BSRC president, very accommodating person and full of laughter. About passed 12 noon three handsome and good looking guys arrived: Rico, Mgee and Bing in their super bikes. After the quick lunch of the 3 guys we regroup for the assault to Mt Data (100+ kms from Baguio)

Part 2 – Baguio to Mt. Data

We took off from Baguio around 2pm together with the 5 BSRC members as our guide. We traveled the route going to Benguet, Mountain Province road. Full of twisties and never ending twisties. Our first stop over is at Highest Point, wow awesome view! Even there is a slight fog in the area after Highest Point we had to make several stops, as most of our riders are sleepy already. Our last stop prior to Mt Data is a small town and we had a Bulalo soup. As soon as we finished eating we proceeded to Mt. Data and we were able to reached Mt. Data at pass 5pm. The place is breath taking and you could smell the pine breeze. The BSRC stayed for a while for picture taking and to ensured that we are okay. As soon as the BSRC left we proceeded to our respective rooms to change our clothes at the same time to relax. We ordered our food and instructed the order taker to serve it at 8:30pm. After drinking a bit and eating we decided to sleep already....

Thats it folks!

This may have been a 14+hrs ride, with long and lotsa stopovers. But this is not a ride to prove that we can make it with the fastest time, nor prove the worthiness of our rides. what is important is that we enjoyed the ride safely and the company of our friends. This would make it one of the Best ride of my life. :D

Part 1 – Mt Data to Baguio

Most of the riders woke up late except for Fermin, Alex and me. After taking a bath and eating breakfast we took off at exactly 9:30am. We traveled the same route the only difference this time is the roads are too foggy and we have to slow down. From Mt Data the first stop over was the second muddy portion of the road. I noticed onin didn’t stop so I followed him. I was only able to catch after 10 kms and good thing he slowed down when he saw me. So we were ahead of the pack, both of us agreed to stop over at the Highest Point. It was very relaxing doing a solo run on a twisties despite of foggy areas. Good thing there were no rains when we passed by except for some wet roads and the bad thing is we missed out the Highest Point. We suddenly noticed that we have reached the 66th Infantry and I saw Wolver and companion waiting for us. Onin and I decided to take our lunch already since it’s already 11:00am. After 30 mins the pack arrived wet and muddy. The pack took their lunch and after an hour we took off at exactly 1pm and headed to Baguio. After 5 mins we took off, there was fog already on the road followed by drizzle. It was drizzling all the way down, as soon as we reached Trinidad its sunshine already.

Part 2 – Baguio to Manila

We regrouped at Caltex near the Internet Shop of Wolver and we bid farewell to Wolver and BSRC. BSRC lead us to Marcos Highway and as soon as we traveled along Marcos Highway rain started to pour down accompanied by fogs. I was very difficult situation for us riders as road conditions are wet and visibilities are poor, we have to ride in slow phase. But when we reached Rosario La Union roads are dry, no rains and the group started to ride in a faster phase. We stopped at Caltex Station to freshen up, planned for the next stop over and where to pass to avoid the muddy road in Urdaneta. After 30 mins we took off from Caltex and as soon as we reached Asingan we passed the alternate route where you could see farm lands and straight roads. And after 10 mins my scooter overheated and we had a delay of an hour. After escaping the black hole alternate route we stopped over at Hacienda Luisita for our dinner. Before we took off the Hacienda Luisita we agreed to ride in 60-70 pacing so that my scoot won’t overheat. We traveled the dark road leading to Angeles and we stopped over at Shell San Fernando to sip a cup of coffee. After 15 mins we rode again, road are better now as compare to Tarlac. Finally we reached Malinta Valenzuela at exactly 12:00am and you could see the smile on everyone’s face with one common words “At Last!” After 15 mins of rest we bid farewall to everyone and expected to see ones again here at MCP.

Conclusion:

The Mt Data Ride should be for experienced riders as roads are full of twisties as in never ending twisties. Road are nice except for some portions are wet due to water flowing down from the mountain. As for the food, I would suggest Maraoisan resto small but delicious food; 66th Infantry Brigade at saddle the 66th infantry meal is enough to fulfill your hunger of course with free coffee and for Mt Data Hotel-rooms are nicer, beds are soft, with towel, toiletries, soap, the only thing I hate is hot water is only available in the morning, food is reasonable imagine a tapsilog for only 100 pesos with overflowing free coffee.
