most riding jackets may be dry cleaned but NOT too often as it slowly brittles the jacket material. leather needs a specific dry cleaning method that's designed for it (so ask your local dry cleaner if they have such). prices range from P100 to P350 and up, dry cleaning leathers will cost you more but it's worth it, provided the cleaner is properly equipped. for mesh, I still would recommend soaking it for an hour in soap water then putting it in the machine with a "light/moderate" setting or do it the old-fashined way.

Both can be used. Generally, use the MOST GENTLE soap you can use for your riding gear's needs. If there's just dust and no petroleum particles that stuck - oil, grease, tar, unburnt diesel, etc. (IMPOSSIBLE here in the Philippines :D) - then your bath soap will do. If there's trapped dirt and grime then use your regular laundry soap (powder or liquid) BUT take care when using laundry detergents that have "whitening" properties. Too much and they can bleed your gears' colors real fast! Try mixing the detergent/soap with water first before soaking your gear in it. Leave soaked for bout an hour or so. When the dirt and grime has come loose, you can aggitate your gear manually (by hand) or put em in the machine (again, "gentle" machine setting). For darker-colored gear (black, grey, deep blue, etc), I recommend using Perwoll's Black Magic (hmmm.. maybe I should be an endorser? :D). If youre not satisfied with the first wash, repeat! :D
