Okay, you guys are probably the best people to ask around since it almost always rains there.

I use this Rain-X but somehow it doesn't seem to work as expected. At faster speeds, its okay since I just tilt my helmet from side to side and let the wind clean my face shield. But its on slower speeds where there is not enough wind to wipe off the water that I am trying to find a better solution (other than using my glove to swipe it off).

I'm just wondering if there is a better way of coating your visor to keep off the rain... specially showers. I don't mind heavy downpours since the strong rain just washes out of your visor and visibility is so bad anyway.

Cheers. :)

when i was in Baguio, I learned that wiping shampoo with a cloth in the interior glass helps keep fog away.

Ay teka, Visor pala ito.

In Socal, it seldom rains, last time I had to ride in the rain was like 10 yrs ago. Yung kapote ko kasi bago and I wanted to use it. I was just less than a mile away from my work. It was so much hassle that I decided to take the car.

When it rains or has just rained, I usually have a chamois within arm's reach to wipe off my visor whenever it gets blurred from the mist coming from the vehicles in front of me. I don't use it much during a downpour, as there is enough water flowing on the visor to displace the dirt and keeps it from accumulating.

I don't think that any kind of product similar to Rain-X can prevent the dirt from building up on your visor. You would still need something to wipe it off from time to time.

I bought some Rain-X for my windshield but then I read the label and it said do not use on anything but glass. Someone told me it will damage plastic. I tried it on a little unseen corner of the windshield about a year ago but it it still looks the same with no sign of any damage.

...aaahhh.

Rain-X does help in rainy rides but as FW pointed out...WARNING!, test a small portion of your visor first. It does work well with Arai visors which are Lexan. It does not degrade or blur the optics. Rain-X anti-fog could also be used to prevent misting/fogging.

I installed a fogcity proshield on my faceshield. Its got a sticky edges and installed from the inside. The raised fogcityshield leaves an air space between your faceshield and the fogcity insert thus eliminating the fogging effect.http://www.goodvibesracing.com/Fog%20City.htm

ive tried waxing my car's windshield with car wax. surprisingly during the rain, it had the same effect as rain x. rain drops flow down leaving very tiny droplets that does not hinder visibility. i suggest try waxing the helmet windshield. because wax leave an oil effect that when rain drops fall on them it will have the same effect as that of the rainx. goodluck :) when i was swimming regularly before we had the same fogging problem with our goggles, what we did was to put some shampoo on the insides, rub em gently with our fingers and dip them one time on water just to make the coating even. its like magic, our goggles became anti fog, it just had a little irritation on the eye so we used mild baby shampoo, no tears :D

if your problem is fogging in the insides of your helmet sheild, study you helmet carefully, most helmets have vent coming from the chin guard. if you see holes from inside portion of your chin guard, just at the back of the lower part of the sheild, chances are just open the front chin vent and cool air will flow in the defog your shield.

I have read an article in the net that quotes you can use pledge to keep the rain off your visor. I forgot the name of the site though. It is also stated there that turtle wax will do. I just don't know if these two products work well... di kaya maging blurry ang visor natin n’yan?

Hey... good thread! :) I usually leave a flannel rag in the pocket of my jacket but yesterday afternoon on the way home, there was a sudden downpour (ang ginaw!) . I wasnt prepared. I was too anxious to go home to stop and wipe off my shield. So I rode with those nasty droplets lingering inside and out of my shield. :W

On Rain-X

According to the HJC website, it's advisable to use rain-x both inside and out. But they have a clear warning against using it on shaded shields. I apply Rain-x after wiping the shield, but hec, it hardly works so the best is still a rag/chamois within hands reach.

BTW, I hate using rain-x on my cages' windshield, it causes my wipers to judder and it's annoying... :W

ako i've tried shampoo on my goggles during my swimming training days. it works effectively. just put a drop of shampoo on each side of ur goggles. mild shampoo para di mahapdi sa mata. spread evenly then dip in water to remove excess shampoo... wear it and don't remove it na for the whole time.

don't use saliva. it's good defogger but don't use it. yuch! :vomit:

10 years ago i'm using this solution, forget the brand but it's better than rain-x. the box comes in 2 bottles 1 for the rain and 1 for defogging. the box has a jet fighter for a logo. the defogger solution is quite irritating to the eye, so don't much use it. but the other solution really works even when you're on slow speed. it breaks the water into droplets and slide off your visor.

the last time i saw this brand is at concorde car accessories at sm megamall hope they still have this brand.

I have a solution of mild shampoo and water in a spray bottle and I spray the helmet shield and bike windshield with it.. also tried mixing a mild solution of turtlewax wash and dry(not sure if the name is right). its a self-drying mix of soap and wax by turtlewax. rinse and wipe dry. this has some wax so dirt dosnt stick as easy.
also good for the front of the bike splattered with bugs.

a good way to get the bugs off easily is to put a wet towel over the shield for 5 mins. first before you wipe it off, this softens the hardened bugs and beetlejuice ,andyou dont scratch the shield as much :) :)
