Just want to share this info guys...specially to the newbies...

i was in a local motorcycle store this morning, when another customer beside me, asked for a "Ruberized helmet... yung tag P500+ lang", out of curiousity i also asked to check one out....

it turned out that stores sell these helmets as "Rubberized" due to the following qualities...
1. Flat black color and...
2. the shell is soft, that you can squeeze the opening with your hands...

BEWARE! these are nothing but Imitation helmets. Don't be fooled by whatever the salesperson tells you....these helmets may do you more harm than good...

Sir, what brand of helmet is that?

NSCB
June 14th, 2006, 06:19 PM
Noland ang brand...but there were others that have no visible brand in the helmet but are of the same quality....

Thanks sir! I also saw some helmets just like these rubberized helmets the brands are MRC and MHR. No offense meant to those using these helmets were just giving warning to our co-riders. :)

As far as i know...there are no such thing as "Rubberized Helmets"...i guess the term was coined from that of the celfone casing...nevertheless...should there really be a rubberized helmet...it would only apply to the helmet's finish...ang not the shell....

if i may care to add, dapat yung mga motorcycle dealers (motortrade, tres hermanas, minerva, etc.) dpat kasama na helmet sa motor na bnebenta nila is a good quality helmet. Yung binbigay nila is panget, hindi makakaprotekta.

couldn't agree more sir.
in this case, kahit papaano may quality protection na agad yung rider.
problema lang sa ating mga dealers ngayon, mas pinahahalagahan nila yung mas malaking kikitain nila by giving away cheap helmets, rather than their responsibility to their customers.

@bro NSCB, that was a very keen observation. hapi riding!

@drakx
tnx bro...even with the cheap give away helmets...di rin pare-pareho binbigay ng mga dealers..like most of you guys there..i was told that you were given the "baseball cap" helmet when you goy your Z2...while here in CDO, we were given a fullface helmet. At least meron nagamit while waiting to buy a certified helmets.

nakaka-awa kasi yung mga newbies na hindi nakaka-alam about this, specially those na walang access sa MCP. let's do our share in sharing this info to other people we know, specially the newbies...para di naman sila ma-isahan ng mga mapagsamantalang dealers..at the same time putting their safety at stake.

HTH.

I searched google for rubberized helmets... most of the results, rubberized helmets are used for equestrian and skateboarding/ roller blades.

And for the price of 500 pesos, you'll never be sure kung anong klaseng "teknolohiya" ang ginamit sa rubberized helmet na ito.

Thanks for the warning NSCB.

@dondon...di ka naduling bro...i've seen them also...all over the Philippines na yata yan...correct yung nakita mo..."shoei" nga ang tatak...but it's definitely not original....there are some na iba ang font ng pagkakasulat ng "shoei"...and there are those that uses the exact font...but are still imitation....the price alone should give you a warning...

share ko lng tong story about one of motortrade branch here in batangas city.
before they were giving free helmets. they stopped giving such, because of bike accident before. ung buyer nila n un n unfortunately naaksidente nga e idinemanda ang motortrade because na-break daw ung helmet (poor quality brand cguro) kya may tama din ung ulo ng biker. after that incident tinigil n nila ang free helmet.

though you didnt get a free helmet...at least you won't have a wrong feeling of security using the giveaway helmet....just buy a certified helmet...it may be additional cost on your part...but you cant put a price on your safety...

i don't have any idea as to what kind of helmets they're selling sa pier....(layo ko kasi dyan eh..) pero ganito gawin mo, check out the quality of the said helmets, take note of the brands and their prices....then compare it with the helmets sold by authorized distributors...then you'll know whether those helmets are imitation or not....

Iwas gasgas? I would have to disagree with you on that. I once had the exact same model and color. Nagsisi ako, I should have bought a glossy black one. Pag nagasgas sya, hindi na sya pwedeng ma-remedyuhan, unlike with a glossy one, madaling punasan and madadaan sa rubbing compound if worse comes to worst magasgasan sya.

These are just my opinions... I hope this helps.

would like to remind everyone that helmets are supposed to break during a crash... helmets break because they absorb the force of impact.

most manufacturers will warn you not to use a helmet (even though mukhang buo pa sya) if it was involved in a crash or if it was dropped hard...

just my two cents...

OT: sir paul_xt16, ive been using my matt dark silver zeus helmet for a few months... dropped it once sa tiled floor namin (buti nalang medyo mababa lang, tolerable) nung bagong bago pa... i was lookin for scratches pero wala po. recently naman i was riding along an intersection sa bocaue (bulacan) tapos may telephone wire na putol na medyo humampas sa helmet ko... i thought gasgas na, pero la parin... even if you'll look at it closely... promise!

and pag nalaglag or nahampas pina pa scan pa nila yan pag may crack kahit maliit lalo na kung plastic composite type. mas maganda raw pati pag fiberglass made.

i was happy with it until mabasa ko tong thread na to. nagduda tuloy ako sa helmet ko kung okay ba. kasi from what i have been reading i draw a conclusion na pag less than 1k ang presyo eh delikado. at pag wala DOT na tatak sa likod eh delikado din. hmmm.. ung akin walang DOT sticker sa likod at 600 lang pero matigas compared to banketa helmets and sa mga helmets sa mall at dept store. can this give me protection? help!
