View Full Version : Do you wear ear plugs?
SVince650S October 8th, 2003, 05:38 AM Just wanted to get an idea of how many actually wear ear plugs. I use disposable foam ones that conform and expand to the inside of the ear. They eliminate the annoying wind noise when riding at high speeds. They do not mute out essential noises like vehicles coming up from behind, horns and sirens.
I have gotten so used to wearing ear plugs that I use them everytime... doesn't matter what helmet I use. I feel long term effects of out weigh the inconvenience... besides you get used to the feeling of something in your ears.:D
speedy June 25th, 2005, 09:10 PM i agree with u
SmashGear June 25th, 2005, 10:42 PM i do.. bought 2 pairs of them, those that can be bought in ACE hardware or handyman :) we might ignore the wind's sound as we cruise along the roads but they do produce enough decibels to affect our hearing in the later days.
Hardliner June 27th, 2005, 06:21 PM i'm looking for those foam ones, they're cheap but i could not find a shop selling one. so anybody here knows where can i buy one? hahn manila don't sell them anymore.
The Growler June 27th, 2005, 10:50 PM Probably should wear them but then I'd miss out on the incredible crackle of 1450 cc on the over-run as I shift up to 4th through a pair of Vance & Hines Straight Shots open pipes, guaranteed to wake up dozy cagers............. :D :D :D

True Value has them...
Hercules June 28th, 2005, 07:36 AM Wearing Ear plugs has its advantages. It is more comfortable and less noise. I only learned about this during my last few Bicol rides.

stormrider June 30th, 2005, 04:07 PM i get mine from gun shops. the plastic ones are more durable and lasting than foam plugs but are also more expensive.
leinahtan June 30th, 2005, 04:33 PM Mayroon ako kaso di ko ginagamit....Galing sa airline where my father always used to ride......i think perfect yun... kaya kung may kakilala kayo...magpakuha na lang kayo dito...libre naman yun after naisuot na nila.....WAG LANG MAY LUGA..........dyahe :bouncy:
snuks June 30th, 2005, 04:59 PM I'd like to but I preferred not. Mas maganda na 'yong marinig mo sakaling magkaroon ng emergency or may abnormality sa MC ko.
Sound system? Ibili ko na lang ng knee and elbow protection pads
RiderDriver July 1st, 2005, 07:46 AM ano kamo?
can't get used to it, seems like there's air pressure i can't get rid of.
Bashful July 1st, 2005, 08:26 AM I tried and wanted to wear it as part of my standard riding equipment, but thing is, i wasn't comfortable with it..
ala eh rider July 1st, 2005, 03:04 PM haven't tried that idea yet...
masubukan nga.
Hardliner July 1st, 2005, 09:27 PM first times really hard, that's why there's "getting used to it".
ride safe y'all.

CoolWind July 13th, 2005, 10:59 AM earphone with mild cool sound ok din..
stormrider July 13th, 2005, 05:00 PM parang delikado yan . mababawasan yon awareness mo sa paligid
apat na taon na akong may ear plugs pag nasa motor. sa umpisa medyo alanganin pero pag nasanay na, okay naman. in fact, i cannot ride anymore without ear plugs kasi sobrang ingay ng kapaligiran pag wala. i noticed that plugs soften sharp noises, yung bang ingay na nakakarindi tulad ng busina and, yes, loud pipes tulad ng nasa bike ko. pero hindi nababawasan ang awareness ko to the point na delikado. it really is a combination of the two senses, sight and hearing, that work together for a safe ride. :)
heightdeprived June 21st, 2007, 05:17 AM I never appreciated the use of earplugs, until I watched F1. But seriously I'll try asking one from the airline I'll be flying with or I'll be buying one nang masubukan...
Freelancer, The June 21st, 2007, 05:33 AM I still wear earplugs (disposable). It doesnt really eliminate the sound which is good. Sa firing range we use double hearing protection (ear plugs and muffs).
My ex use to nag me kaya i wear them and she doesnt know. Naririnig ko pa rin siya pero much focused ako sa gumagalaw na bibig nya.
Ear plugs sa ride? no...i want to enjoy some engine music (-:

hmm, makes sense...
foxyface June 22nd, 2007, 03:23 AM I've got a Sony noise-cancelling ear-buds that I use to play my mp3. I'm planning to use it during a ride to and from work but I'm reluctant. The plugs might eliminate even the 'necessary' noises like a horn from the vehicle behind me...
