View Full Version : Helmet brands, logos.... just noticed.
kompressor May 18th, 2006, 10:17 AM I just can't help but notice some similarities between helmet brands, logos and colors used in their logos. Hmmmm..... which is which? I'll be posting photos once I get snapshots of some helmets with dubious brand similarities.
Readers, you be the judge. Do they look like rip-offs? (preparing photos.....)
kompressor May 18th, 2006, 10:20 AM I owned plain colored HJC CL-14 in the past and there was a time when I parked my bike and noticed a similar looking helmet that was hanging on another bike's helmet holder. At first glance, I thought it was the same model but when I looked at it carefully, it spelled KJC instead of HJC. HJC stands for Hong Jin Crown Ltd (Korea). Kong Jin Crown (Hong Kong?)?

kompressor May 18th, 2006, 10:26 AM I'm very familiar with the AGV logo because of the Valentino Rossi endorsement posters and one day, I thought I got lucky. I was window shopping in Caloocan and stumbled upon a very cheap AGV (because of the logo with the distinct green, white and red colors of its logo. Whoops, what happened the letters? It turns out that it's spelled as AVP! Assistant Vice President?

kompressor May 18th, 2006, 10:36 AM I've been seeing a lot of AM helmets sold in Caloocan. They really look neat to me. Sometime ago, a guy riding a black R1 along E Rod was on my opposite late and sported a black AM helmet (same logo). WHOOPS! It's not AM but FM! Not I'm confused!
Searched the net and found out that FM is an Italian brand (by Fimez) but found no sites related to AM. Instead, I ended up with a comparison of FM and AM, which stands for Frequency Modulation and Amplitude Modulation. Now I get it! Love radio is 90.7 FM and DZRH is 630khz AM. Geez!

Gdinks150 May 19th, 2006, 02:00 AM the original brands there are the ff hjc agv, kjc ang avp are just imitations
doomzday May 19th, 2006, 09:52 AM i think it is a marketing strategy of the cheaper brands.
NSCB May 19th, 2006, 10:25 AM another way of telling an imitation from an original one (even unknown brands) is by looking at it's quality..
1. Paint & Finish...original ones usually have smooth top coats.
2. Graphics...are aligned.
3. Plastic Parts like vents are smooth to operate
4. Stickers & Decals are top coated
5. Good quality interior
Add ko na rin...there are also a lot of imitation helmets that carries the actual name of the original ones...i've seen a lot of Fake Shoeis in the malls...so buy your helmets from authorized distributors
sealander May 19th, 2006, 11:15 AM just by looking at the price tag..you can easily tell if it's an original or not..

Payon Hunter May 19th, 2006, 02:51 PM para madaling mapansin, ang ibang manufacturer ay sinasadyang ihawig ng product at logo nila sa mga kilalang product.

Found FM stocks in Caloocan Sales yesterday. I'm still searching for snapshots of the other brands. Katuwaan lang naman..... kakatuwa kasi yung similarities eh.

bro, i've seen those helmets also...to me they look like imitation helmets...and i doubt if they are really certified at all...suggest ko lang...try to see the branded helmets so you can have a better point of comparison and buy helmets from authorized distributors to get your money's worth...

forbiddensmoke May 20th, 2006, 05:07 PM nice one sir kompressor... :)
pero sa lahat ng "imitation" helmets na naglabasan... IMHO yung orig na INDEX ang pinaka-reliable. :)
kompressor May 21st, 2006, 04:40 AM Hindi naman sila imitations because they carry entirely different brand names. A good way of identifying their brands, though. Marketing strategy ika nga ni sir doomsday.
forbiddensmoke May 22nd, 2006, 08:21 AM honga... pasensya na po... :) kaya siguro mabili ang INDEX compared to other helmets (AVP, AM, KJC)... kasi kamukha sila ng SHOEI ng itsura ng logo... yun din kasi napansin ko nung bumili ako ng Index 411...
