Hi everybody. Glad to join this community. I am a member of a Filipino motorcycle group in Australia. Our group is called Maharlika Riders. We are based in Sydney, NSW. Our group is mixed in terms of the bikes we ride. Most of us are riding cruisers and the rest are riding sports bikes. Nobody is riding scooter yet. But we welcome every Pinoy na nag ra-ride huwag lang bicycle. So see around everybody.

Welcome to MCP Bro

Do the Maharlika Riders have a website?

What's the riding experience like there? May I ask what are the requirements for a Filipino Tourist to ride down under?

Hello Kanduli,

I recently migrated to Australia and I'm glad to know that there are fellow filipinos in Sydney that have a bike club. I don't have a bike yet because I'm still starting a new life here in Sydney with my family but is planning to buy one as soon as my budget and time allows.

I would like to join your group as soon as I get a bike. San ba tambayan nyo sa Sydney? and more power to you guys at ingat sa pag ride.

As for TerminalHopper's query, if you're a tourist, all you need is your RP motorcycle licence and you can ride with no problem as long as your tourist visa remains valid. But if you're a Pinoy who is an immigrant in Australia, in New South Wales, you can use your RP licence for the first three months after your arrival and you need to get an Australian licence ASAP because after 3 months as permanent resident, you cannot use your RP licence anymore.

As for the riding experience, I have driven around in my car and all I can say is ganda ng kalye dito especially if you go out of the city there are roads with magnificent ocean views and plenty of national parks with nice twisty roads.

ang requirement isa lang. kailangan gwapo kami lahat pasado.
Most of our bikes are cruisers, sport, and sports touring ranging from 650 to 1600 cc. Riding in Australia is fantastic, the country roads has amazing views and the coastal roads is beautiful. the roads are safe but all our riders are fully geared. do you ride what sort of bike do you have. ride safely.

Hello Kanduli and Maharlika Riders , I almost migrated there a few years back but suddenly a change of heart. I don't know why.... I already have temporary resident visa for my whole family but .. I still don't know why I did not push it. I went there August of 2004 and live in Blacktown and Parramatta lots of bikes there and nice road and sceneries. My visa is still valid up to Sept 2007 so still lot of time to think about it. By the way Kanduli (the fish in Laguna de Bay). Thanks for naming the group after my name!( great coincidence!) My first name is Maharlika....hmmmm imagine joining a group after your name? That's great!!! Regards to all Filipino Riders!!! Mabuhay kayo!!

Yes kanduli is a fish in Laguna de Bay. I came from Cupang, Munti. Malapit sa Laguna de Bay. I dont know if there are still kanduli there. maybe they are all gone because of pollution.

First time I have known a person named Maharlika.
Good on you mate.

Kanduli,
Where do you usually hang out when your group rides? How many are you in Maharlika Riders? I'll probably be there with my family before the end of the year and I'm thinking of shipping 2 bikes from here (Phils.), mine and my eldest son. Can you give me your opinion on this.
thanks; ride safe and enjoy!

Sorry for the late reply.

I would suggest not to bring your bikes here. Masyadong maraming hassle. Aside from quarantine issues, there is also the problem of compliance. Baka hindi mo ma-register and bikes mo dito without expensive modifications.

Better sell your bikes there then use the money to buy your bikes here.

Gee mate, Fiji is a bit unstable these days. Hopefully it stabilised by the time you reach there, the gov't and military are working on something. But yeah, it is somehow similar to what we use to have over there in 'pinas coup de etat left right and center.

Not much info about MC clubs over there though. Goodluck.
