View Full Version : Intensity 2 quake hits Metro Manila

A MILD earthquake measuring intensity 2 on the Richter Scale jolted Metro Manila early Wednesday evening, a spokesman for the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said.
There were no reported damages. The earthquake was most felt in the Makati City financial district, OCD Deputy Administrator Anthony Golez said.
A report on GMA Network's “24 Oras” newscast said the quake was felt in Quezon City at around 7:04 p.m.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) was not immediately available for confirmation.

(UPDATE) AN EARTHQUAKE measuring 4.7 on the Richter Scale rocked Luzon at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday.
The quake's epicenter was located 59 kilometers northwest of Mamburao town, Occidental Mindoro province, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology Director Renato Solidum said in a text message.
The temblor, tectonic in origin, was caused by a movement in the Lubang Fault.
The quake registered Intensity 5 in Looc and Lubang towns in Occidental Mindoro, Intensity 3 in San Fernando, Pampanga province, and Intensity 2 in Quezon City, Makati City, and the resort town of Puerto Galera, in Oriental Mindoro province.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has no immediate report of casualties or damages.
