I remember a conversation our group had long ago, precisely about this. Don't know how we came up with the figure, I guess it was published either on the net or in one of the magazines that helmets (regardless of brands) have a lifespan of 5 years.

Time to buy a new helmet :C I was wondering, what do you do with your old helmets? Do you just keep them hanging or displayed somewhere or just throw them away?:?

Bros., this information came from HJC website FAQs.

Q: How long can a helmet last?

A: HJC Helmets are constructed with the best materials available to offer you a long lasting product. However, due to the fact that helmets are used in a wide variety of conditions, it is impossible to specify an exact product life span. Due to UV damage, adhesive and component aging, and other, HJC recommends changing a helmet every 3 to 5 years.

May be it is almost the same or the same with other well known brands that it will last.

One thing, the helmet should be replaced at once even if it has survived a major impact. I've seen this under one of the helmet care instruction (SHOEI).

Chief, do not be misled. My bike that time was a Honda Mini Trail 50cc and I was only 7 years old. Not that old:evil:
