Mga tol, meron bang nabibiling go karts o Dune Buggy (picture in above link) yata ang tawag dito sa Pilipinas? Can they be registered with LTO? Most of them are fitted with headlights, signal lights, horn, view mirrors, 150-250cc engines, etc. with size 10 tires. They seem to look like roadworthy but I have not seen one on the road. Some manufacturers posted the price around $2,000 which I think is reasonable.

I love to ride bikes but lately I am having a problem with my butt especially during long trips and I thought this kind of vehicle is butt friendly and the gas consumption will be the same as bikes (go kart manufacturers' claim).

Thanks

Bro, i don't think you'll be able to have it registered with LTO. these are recreational vehicles and are not safe for daily commuting.....why not consider changing the seat of you bike to make it more butt-friendly?

I have tried other bikes with softer seats but I had the same problem. I never had this when I was a younger biker (I'm now 49). Anyway, I think LTO should take a closer look at these vehicles because in my opinion they are safer than bikes and ATVs. I use my bike as a workhorse. I load every possible stuff at the back (monitors, CPUs, reams of paper, water container, etc) and it is a lot of hazzle to tie/untie the load. With these go-karts, it is easier to bring stuff from one point to another.

I have to go to Pangasinan every month and I have to stop more often to ease the pain of my butt when I use a bike. If go-karts are legal, its just like having a car and a bike at the same time.

Maybe in the future, LTO should consider to have these go-karts street legal.

in that case...why not consider Suzuki Multicabs....these miniturized L300 have 3 cylinder engines...tipid pa rin sa gas...

NSCB, I have seen a few of these multicabs and they 'look slow' and the price might be double the price of go karts. Go karts are mostly single cylinders and manufacturers claim 25 to 35 km/li consumption which is the same as my 150cc bike. Another claim is that go karts can go as fast as 75 kmph.

I cannot think of any reason to ban these go karts on the road. The steering and suspension is the same as most vehicles and overall width is 1.4m to 1.6m which in my opinion is safe enough. It has a lower center of gravity too.

Maybe if I can find a dealer, I can ask if these go karts can be registered with LTO. The dealers/LTO would know better.

Thanks.

Just reviving this thread...
We recently bought a Dune Buggy from G1 Motors, along Buendia.
It's a 2 seater, automatic, 260cc 4 stroke, single cylinder.
It's a very nice recreational vehicle, safer than an ATV, which was what we originally wanted.
What's good about this is it's LTO registered, so we get to take it out on the road-highway pa actually coz we left it in Tagaytay.
The manufacturer says it has a topspeed of 85kph, but I've only driven it up to 65kph coz the warning indicator starts to blink.
Its got headlights, signal lights, tail lights so we also get to take it out at night.
