MAP Annual Toy Run
November 20, 2005 at Enchanted Kingdom

The MAP Toy Run Committee has been organizing the 2005 MAP Toy Run since mid-year & is in the process of finalizing the last few details.

UNICEF will once again be our beneficiary; we will be hosting a total of 200 children & caregivers.
We will assemble at the Fort Bonifacio on Sunday, November 20 starting at 6am, the children & care givers will be served Donuts courtesy of Gonuts Donuts & iced chocolate courtesy of Starbucks.

Riders are requested to arrive as early as possible, with their toys – they in turn will be served donuts & coffee courtesy of our generous sponsors. As always, the entrance fee for each rider is a toy.

Pull out is at 8am SHARP, we are finalizing details regarding the Motorcade & it’s course of travel (almost certainly the SLEX) & are grateful to MAP member & MCPF director, Jojo Medina who has committed 25 riders from various clubs of the PSF to be the Motorcade Marshals headed by Herc of MIB. Discipline on the ride is a must & will be enforced by the marshals. Everyone is expecting Santa & once again, he will lead the motorcade.

At 9am, we plan to hold slow rides with the children in the Enchanted Kingdom’s reserved parking area, and the usual toy drop where riders ride past the children and drop toys on the pile, and then at 10am, the children & caregivers will enter the Enchanted Kingdom to enjoy a magical time.

At that time, the riders who have so selflessly given of their time can leave to enjoy the rest of their day, knowing that they’ve been part of a worthy cause.

We have sponsors for the event & will be having a few more come aboard to join our worthy cause.

We are planning to hold an on-line auction, for 2 weeks, to close 1 week before the Toy Run, proceeds to go to the UNICEF/MAP fund, items to be auctioned are being finalized with our sponsors & will be announced soon.

The commitment that we are asking of you, the riders, is to come to the Fort with your toy, enjoy the get-together with the other riders, join the Motorcade & give the children rides – and don’t forget to sign up at the Fort, the 1st 100 riders with toys will, after the motorcade ride & the parking lot activities with the children, receive a free commemorative map toy run 5 t-shirt.

The Toy Run organizing committee is looking for 25 volunteers / riders to assist the caregivers with the children at Enchanted Kingdom, they need to be prepared to spend the day helping the children, our guests. For the 25 volunteers, your commitment will begin at 7am at the Fort & will end at 3pm when the children have left Enchanted Kingdom. We would like to request that the volunteers come from different MC clubs in order to involve everyone, as our event is a team effort.

We will be updating you with the latest details but for now, kindly reserve the morning of Sunday, November 20 to spend it with the children.

Whether I like it or else nga!

The last time I attended a similar activity was way back sa hospicio de san jose, where we distributed gifts and food. Ibang iba talaga ang feeling. Kahit hindi ka palangiti, lalabas kang nakangiti.

Ron is this limited to Toys? How about grown up cloths? Too early for me to sign up but either way Im sharing some toys and/or cloths :)

There's nothing to apologize about but we still have to talk about MAP concerns. It is I who has to apologize to you for the meeting that did not materialize. Remind me that I owe you coffee for it. :-)

I think it will be best to get in touch with Ned Hourani or the secretariat as they know more about Toy Run than I do. Sorry Boss. But I presume that that it has something to do about taking care of the kids. :-).

In general, we need volunteers to watch and assist the children as they go in and enjoy the rides inside Enchanted Kingdom. The adult volunteers will be there to just make sure that they do not get into any untoward incidents and that they are guided through the park. The children will be from ages 7 to 14, so it should not be so hard to watch over them. Overall, to make sure that the kids ENJOY their day and have the BEST TIME of their LIFE! :)

A more detailed guideline for all the volunteers will be released once we get all 25 volunteers. You will be briefed on your duties and responsibilities, so do not worry for now.
