Hi, please check this out:
http://www.bellbikehelmets.com/productDetail.asp?prodID=6
I noticed that a lot of biker's don't wear helmets due to the following reasons:
1) It is too hot in crowded cities.
2) Some wanted to enjoy their entertainment/sound systems and monitor their surrounding at the same time.
Do you think it can offer the same level of protection as a full faced motorcycle helmet?

in my opinion, for some degree it can protect, however there is a stern warning posted inside every road/MTB helmet that says "not suitable to be used when operating motorized vehicles" or something like that, it must mean something to be posted inside every bicycle helmet... :? I don't think its DOT certified.

bro, if you would use it while riding a bicycle, i would assume it would do the job and only if you use it for riding bikes. bike helmets are for bikes, and motorcycle helmets are for motorcycles.
with regards to some people who doesn't wear their helmets coz its too hot, bear in mind that most of the bike helmets for sale these days has lots of ventilation in their shell...so its not an excuse for not wearing one.
and in case they don't want wear one because they would like to enjoy their portable music players..we need our good sense of hearing to assess the present flow of traffic while cycling, either in a public road,on a park, or on a trail.even if you turn the volume down...there would always be a possibility of being distracted by the music.
be safe and always consider the purpose of wearing a dedicated helmet.they are made to protect our head while on the move.

aajgb,
Bicycle helmets don't offer them same level of protection motorcycle helmets do. Their design tolerances were meant for lower speed use.
Meaning they have a thinner impact absorbing liner, thier shell construction is lighter, offering less rigidity for penetrating impacts or dissipating the energy of hitting your head on hard surfaces.

Fellow riders
There are a lot of different helmets...but every helmet have a first name...as in MOTORCYCLE helmet, BICYCLE helmet, CONSTRUCTION helmet...etc....because they are created to suit a specific purpose...
Every responsible motorcyclist knows the importance of using a helmet...its
something that goes with your motorcycle....Lax lang kc masyado mga authorities dito sa pinas...(even some of them dont use theirs...nakasabit lang sa mga motor nila).
In some other countries, there are "Helmet Laws"...di lang basta naka helmet ka...ok na...
I've posted a thread regarding MC riders helping other MC riders for this very reason...nakakalungkot kc isipin that there are a LOT of riders who are not aware of safety...they wear any kind of helmet for the sake na naka-helmet sila...para di mahuli. Yun namang mga nanghuhuli...wala ring paki-alam basta may helmet...minsan nga maski di nakasuot...nakasuot man nasa siko o sa headlight ng bike nakalagay...buti pa yung motor naka helmet....
Be informed...ride safe....its for your own good....

Thanks, unfortunately some of my associates who have shifted to bicycle helmets swear by it, and would use a motorcycle helmets only on long drives & on rainny days.
I hope bicycle helmet manufacturers would come up with stronger helmets that could be used on a motorcycle as well. And hopefully they are SNELL/DOT approved.
