Hi Guys!!

I heard from today's news that MMDA is rushing implementation of bike lanes all ove Metro Manila. Will this be good for us? I heard that all bicycles, motorcycles of all kinds , probably tricycles and pedicabs will all be crammed into a narrow lane. This could mean that owners of big bikes will be limited to driving their bikes at a max speed of 20 kph since there will be clusters of bicycles in front of us. Hanggang 2nd gear lang ba? heh heh!! I hope we can get the complete rules from MMDA and explain our side to them.

I already sent a very strong letter to the MMDA. I hope it got there!

This is extremely dangerous for us. The most dangerous part of the road will be made even more dangerous because BF cant see the difference between cycles and MOTORcycles.

I have explained all the reasons why it is dangerous so many times. please do a forum search for the details.

This is already included in my presentation to the president.

I just heard the letter never got delivered :(

Maybe tomorrow will solve this one.

If this bike lane law will be implemented strictly, I doubt if people will be interested in upgrading and getting a newer big bike. I myself will be relegated to driving a car instead of being crammed with the slower vehicles. I guess my time with motorcycles has ended.

i thought these bike lanes are for bicycles?

I just came from a meeting at the office of Secretary Reyes where I expected to also meet with Bayani Fernando. BF was not there but his representative was.

I asked him to exclude motorcycles from the bike lanes explaining how dangerous it would be and pointing out that MOTORcycles are MOTOR vehicles and should be grouped with motor vehicles.

Secretary Reyes asked the MMDA guy to repy and he said "Bicycles only?" I said "yes please" and he promised motorcycles would not be included.

Thanks Frank!! We still do not have the final decision from our beloved MMDA but I still wanna thank your organization and yourself for watching over the rights of motorcyclist.

You don't need one. I didn't know at the time but the order not to include motorcycles in the bicycle lanes came from the very top :D
