Hi everyone! :)
MCPF IDs will be coming up very soon (of course, with the members' support)but I need the lists of members who are interested to have an ID. I have forms to be filled-up at the office at 3789 Mascardo St., near Don Chino Roces Ave., Makati. The ID costs P100. Those who are interested can visit the office M-F 8am-6pm or call me at 8900423 for more info.

Suggestion:
Those who belong to a club, you can contact your President or any officer so that your Officers will be the one to coordinate with me...

Hoping to receive a favorable response from you guys very soonest!

Thanks!:)

Sorry guys, please hold this for a short time. Ellaine is doing a great job but she is moving too fast for me to keep up. It is essential that the ID cards are linked to the membership database which in turn links to a mailing list which in turn links to the web site to check ID card numbers against names, etc. I am working on this but it is a big job.

The other problem is distribution and payment which is a problem for all items in the shop. Payment on-line in the Philippines has huge problems so we need alternatives. Paying into a bank account is OK but it is a lot of hassle for members. Can we use cellphone cash transfer or something? Anyone got any suggestions?

We need simple ways for members to pay for small items that can be sent via registered mail or through the distribitor channels we are setting up. I have a distributor ready to start in Davao but we need many more so let us know if you are interested.

If anyone has suggestions on any of the above please post.

Thanks

Gary,

Many members and clubs just want a card and/or a certificate to show they are members but we are going much further. Some suppliers etc have already said they will be happy to give discounts to members and in return we will give them publicity on Motorcyclephilippines.com We will publish the details of those who give discounts so they get more business. I will be making more announcements of this very soon.

Good day Sirs & Mam!

Is there any chance that we will be getting discounts for petroleum products (fuel, oil etc...) on, lets say, the BIG 3 company (Shell, Caltex, Petron)?
Just a question though... :punk:

The cards are not being produced yet. The announcement was that we will produce them soon. We have to build a very complex membership database first while we see which companies will offer discount.

Best regards

Frank

Sorry kicx_zippinbud but I don't see how we can answer your question. As I said below the cards are not yet being produced.

When we have the database set up and the cards on order then we can answer.

Maybe we can set-up booths for the MCPF Registration Cards during large scale events of MCPF such as jamborees, conventions, bikers festivals. Clubs is not a problem, it is the individual riders that wants to register. maybe each town here in manila and provinces can set-up a designated date and place to register, sounds like a big job, but I know that clubs and motorcycle shops will be willing to help, just a matter of asking them a favor.

The delay on the membership cards is caused by me. I want to be sure we get it right so we don't have huge problems down the line. Our membership cards will be more than just a card that anyone can duplicate. I believe we need proper controls and benefits that come from a properly managed system.

We don't want one database of members, one online database for communications, one for access to members only areas of the site, etc and I don't think we want to sell ID cards to anyone who asks for them without keeping track of membership. We also have to consider payment for the cards and delivery of the cards all over the Philippines and overseas. All this is simple with a club or small federation but we are talking about maybe 200,000 members so we have to get it right even if only a minority get ID cards.

The existing membership database is simple and needs to be much better. It was a rush job to get things moving.

A proper integrated database is essential or we will end up with a massive workload in the future. I am working on what the membership database will be used for and how it works before I can buy the software and set it up.

We need the database to be available on line to make members/club names and their ID numbers accessible to everyone, to show full details, telephone numbers, email addresses, etc to administrators and directors, it needs to handle mailing of newsletters and notices to members, and track if and when each member was issued with an ID card, etc. It should also handle log in to a members only area if we need it in the future without starting all over again with another database. It would also need to keep track of payments and expiry of cards and possibly handle the on-line shop if we can ever solve the problem of on-line payment in the Philippines.

It is very important that all ID holders are entered into the database so they can receive emails, cellphone notifications, etc and of course we build a very valuable database helps us get sponsorship for events, etc. The database would also have a name and an ID number for each member so it is easy for any supplier giving discounts to check that IDs are not fake.

After the database is set up properly it can be handled entirely by Elaine and the web site server.

This is a big job and I am already working from the time I get up to the time I sleep, almost every day so if there are members who are skilled with PHP and MySQL on Unix/Linux I really need some volunteer help.

There is software around that almost does everything we want and maybe some that does all but it takes time to do the research and then to do the set up and maybe minor modifications. I can pay a little if I need to.

Constructive comments etc are welcome.

I cannot work on the new database for at least a couple of weeks so I have suggested we go ahead with the cards but keep careful records that can be entered into the database later.

Of course this means we need a design for the cards and I don't have time to do that either so... All you guys and gals who like to design things, how about suggesting some designs?

As I see it the members name and other personal data can be on the card but they will have to be ordered and paid for before they are made and we may have to have big batches for each order.

An ID card number is essential and can be matched to the name of the holder in the database for dealers etc to verify on line if they want to.

It should have an expiriry date which can be one year after you paid. I don't think there is a need for the date to be fixed like December every year and the database can send out reminders when the card is about to expire. This may be a problem with the supplier if we want small batches, I dont know.

There should also be an area for the member to sign on the back after he gets the card. Pictures of the member and printed signatures would make the cards much more expensive and the mechanics of getting them made would be a nightmare.

Other info is possible like blood group, emergency contact number, Club you belong to, etc but I am not handling the project so we need input from Ellaine and/or King on what can be included and what the minimum batch size is.

Post your designs here.

If you can't post your designs here email them (webmaster@motorcyclephilippines.com) to me and I will put them on-line for you.

good day sir frank,

may i know what requirements do you need so we could ask a few shops and restos here in the north and baguio for the discounts privilages for mcpf members who may drop or pass by here. we are willing to help out to apply the said membership cards for discounts here......so it won't just be in metro manila but also way up north.....

best regards

There are no fixed rules or requirements. If the vendor offers something solid like a percentage discount on goods or services we include them on the list with their offer.

This will bring them a lot more business and our members get the discounts.

We wont accept vague offers. It has to be something solid.

All members are encouraged to get vendors in their area to sign up.

Sir Frank i made this design for the card, i was thinking of doing colored infront and black and white at the back, somehow this will keep the cost a bit lower than doing both colored. and also don't mind the logo (its supposed to be MCPF) after all this is a study, revisions would have to be done whenever the design is approved. I hope everyone likes it. thanks.:bouncy:

Cool Design ;) . Just a small suggestion I hope you don't mind. It would be much better if you would put a magnetic stip or barcode at the back of the card so that you can prevent it from replicating the card and this can also be used as control numbers, Or better yet you can use the ID/userid number from the database as trace numbers for each registered members to determine that they are a legal registered members.

But all in all the card is perfect... :C

Rickster,

I agree with most of our viewers in this thread. Ang galing ng design mo. Suggest ko lang yung background gawin mo mas mukhang Phil flag kasi nandoon na yung mga colors na blue, red, and yellow. Isa pa, mas maganda kung naka ape hanger yung bike. :D For your effort libre na membership card mo when they come out.

Who would read the bar code or magnetic strip and with what? It would also make the cards much more expensive to produce. I suggest the card has a member name and number and both are in the membership database. If anyone is concerned about a possible fake card they can call our secretary who will check the database. If if the holder can then show any ID that matches the name on the card you know it is OK.
