View Full Version : Need feedback from Zeus 508W users

Ever since my HJC CL-12 helmet got stolen a few months back, I've been riding around with my backup half-face HJC CL-2. I'm quite alright with it, especially in hot weather. However, things get pretty messy when I get caught in a downpour. Rain hitting your face at anything above 40kph is no joke. Besides, my vision and overall reaction time is impaired as I have to squint to keep rainwater from hitting my eyes dead on. That's when I started missing my CL-12.

Anyway, as a replacement, I've decided to get the Zeus 508W (glossy black) for three reasons:

1. Moduler (flip-up) type
2. It's cheap... cheapest flip-up helmet, I think
3. Reviews were excellent

Though, it received a few rants from some users, the raves it got outweighs it 10 to 1. Too bad Motoworld currently doesn't have my size until next week. In the meantime, maybe some of the 508W owners can tell me something I should know about this helmet that's not in the brochure, knowing that this is not a Shoei or an Arai. Tips? Gotchas? .... err, does it leak?

Thanks!

Well OK naman performance. One thing lang kung xl size mo masikip pa din ang zeus kasi almost dikit ang chin ko. Saka squeaky yung visor pag tinataas. No leaks sa ulan pero fog ang loob pag heavy dounpour and traffic.

I have that very helmet and it is fine and water does not really get in but it does get foggy during heavy heavy rain. Another thing is that you should get the Chrome Iradium VisoR! It looks awesome....really scary and astig as my friends say. I like how it feels really nice and snuk when worn and it does not feel hot inside as the vents really do work getting air flowing around your cheeks and fore head...

i think 508 (single vent on top) is the older flip up while 508w(double vent on top) is the newer one?
Anyway i have the older zeus flip up (508?). Its noisy (wind noise) and the the face shield and chin guard are very close to my face. some one told me zeus helmets are designed for asian heads and features. A caucasian might have the shield or chinguard hitting his nose. But for the price, i like my 508.

There are two existing threads in MCP which could help you:

Today, I went to Deka to look at the 508W first-hand. Well, the aesthetics looks ok. But as soon as I don one on, I decided it's not for me. As many have observed, the chin paddings were too tight for comfort and the face shield+chin bar is too close to my face.... by close, I mean it's just less than a centimeter away from my nose. No wonder that a lot have complained about fogging. Another thing is that half an inch of my chin is exposed below the closed chin bar.

So I ended up going to JT Triumph and bought a black HJC CL-14. It's a couple of hundred bucks cheaper than the 508W at Php 4K, but with SNELL and DOT certifications. I used it immediately on my ride home and I'm very happy with it.

Thanks to all you guys who responded to this thread. :)

Ain't it a beaut?

Do anyone know the price of Zeus508W's lens?

HJC CL14 is a full-face helmet, while the 508w is a modular/flip-up design.

I use eye glasses. The flip-up makes it convenient for me to wear the helmet, unlike before with my full face - which i found to be a chore.

Do anyone know the price of Zeus508W's lens?

the smoked lens is p700(with discount) if my memory is accurate, same prices for the open face and the flip-up. Iridium i think is more expensive. I dont know about the clear lens price. i have bought 4 zeus helmets for me and my friends. They gave me discount for the lens but not for the helmets.
