b0gart August 5th, 2003, 10:44 AM Finally got IT last saturday!
Problem is walang busina, di ko din mahanap yung wire, sabi kasi nung prev owner pinutol lang daw.
abet, sige pasyal na lang ako sa inyo pag maaga ako naka-uwi.
siRei, weekend siguro pag pareho tayong available. yup still got your number.
ANG BILIS!!
BIMMER40s August 5th, 2003, 11:20 AM A glad you got it.
Walang Busina? Hanapin ko yung color code ng wire, then relay ko sa yo. Kung pinutol niya, nandyan lang yun.
Sayang, I removed my original busina, but already gave it to a friend.
abet August 5th, 2003, 09:15 PM Christy,
just follow the wiring in sirei's bike. also buy what he replaced it with dahil di na original yung nakakabit sa kanya.
BIMMER40s August 6th, 2003, 10:09 AM Chris,
I checked my wiring, and also in reference to the Electrical Wiring diagram, the horn wiring should be;
ORANGE with GREEN TRACING, and BLACK with BLUE TRACING.
if the previous owner cut it off, these set of wires should still be located on the RIGHT WIRE HARNESS. If the wiring system has not be rewired, the ends of these set of wires should come out of the harness just above the Radiator Auxillary Fan.
Sorry, I gave away my original Horn to a friend when I changed mine to a bull horn.
If you need further help, you may send me SMS. It is quicker.
Good Luck
b0gart August 7th, 2003, 12:30 PM tried to trace the wiring and i found out that the the horn button is (-) ground while there is a constant (+) supply to the horn.
tama ba?
meaning the horn button switches the (-) & not the (+) as compared to conventional horn switch.
abet August 7th, 2003, 08:48 PM Chris,
You may say its right na live yong nakakabit sa horn but since the wiring is in series , operation is basically the same. You can reverse the wiring , the horn will still operate.
b0gart August 8th, 2003, 01:51 PM abet,
brought it to james saulog last wednesday to have the bike checked. nahanap din nya yung wiring para sa busina. tapos he did a lot of check-ups.
bad trip lang kasi umulan ng malakas, ayun puro talsik na naman ng putik.
pag maganda panahon sa weekend, text kita ha.
siRei,
saw your bandit at bikepics, ganda ah!
how would i know what year model yung nabili ko? kasi sa c.r. nakalagay 1988, but i know it was only downgraded for cheaper tax dec.
how would i eliminate yung talsik ng putik na umaabot sa upuan?and also umaabot sa radiator?

look under the seat. you'll find a sticker tag which should say: GSF 400-?
if ? says "K", it is a 1989 model.
if ? says "L" it is a 1990 model.
if ? says "M" it is a 1991-94 model.
if ? says "S" it is a 1995-96 model.
if ? says "V" is a 1997-? model.
Although version "M" is also called the BanditV.

don't use your bike... hehe... jus kidding dude...
does your bandit have a hugger on the rear wheel? but any bike gets maputik after a rain ride...
BIMMER40s August 9th, 2003, 06:52 PM Littlebadboy is right. That is the easiest way to identify your bike's year or model number... if you still have the sticker.
Normally. These bikes when new, they come with a sticker plate attached to the frame with the VIN (vehicle identification Number) and a VDS (Vehicle Descriptor Section for European models).
If any of the above no longer exist in your bike, the onlyh way to find out the actual model of your bike is through the inscribed number on your body frame (normally located at the base of the steering column, Right side, below the handle bar.
You will a series of Letters and numbers identifying your bikes frame number:
Example: GK75A-115346
The first 5 characters (letters and numbers) represent the following:
G - Vehicle Category, G meaning = Multiple Cylinder, sport. street
K - Piston Displacement, K = 250cc - 399cc (400 cc bikes are not exactly 400cc)
7 - Engine Type, 7 = 4 stroke, Four cylinder
5 - Design Sequence, Note: This tells you the model Version:

The First Model of Bandit came out in 1988 represented by 1:
2 = 1989, 3 = 1990, 4 = 1991, 5 = 1992, etc. etc.
A - This generally represents the basic model. Non-restricted
(Full) power output versions. Other letters represent modified
versions including special editions.
The last set of 6 digit numbers is your chassis number.
I hope this helps
littlebadboy August 9th, 2003, 09:11 PM wow! that is so kewl sirei! i thought my ex-bike was a '91. through your info, i have learned that it is a '92. gee thanks!
BIMMER40s August 9th, 2003, 10:46 PM littlebadboy,
sorry got it wrong buddy.
First bandit model was launched 1989. I noticed I wrote 1988 (typographical error, sorry)
That would make your B400V a 1993 Model. similar to mine.
b0gart August 11th, 2003, 09:12 AM GK75A - XXXXXX says in my registration,
meaning: 1993 siya?
but i looked under the seat, there's a sticker there that says:
GSF400Z COLOR G98 CODE 7980
what would this mean?
BIMMER40s August 11th, 2003, 01:44 PM Chris,
I ama sorry, I can not comment on the data you found under the seat.
Checking the website for such information, I can't get any further info related to GSF400Z.
I would take the information on the Chassis as a reference for the year of your bike though as that would be hard to switch rather than the area under the seat. I found out that importers do swap parts for their bikes inorder to come up with a good sellable unit. You may also want to check whether the color is the original color. I found out they also swap tanks, rear cowl and fender to a different chassis.
good luck
Dick Steele September 12th, 2003, 10:52 AM Hey folks, the very first big bike i owned here was a 94 Black Bandit 400VC with the Variable Valve Control. I was somewhat sad to let it go for reasons that i consider now somewhat selfish. But in comparison, to a Super 4 ofr example or XJR or even older Bandits, this particular year model (94-95 VC) would be the best i would recommend beacuse of the buldginess, (make it look porma), and most of all the power, the Super 4 & XJR makes 53PS only, this particular year model makes 59PS Stock, and if you add a full system exhaust & rejett on the carb, it will fly!!
I even prefer this over the newer model Bandits because the 96 & up models, the power went down to 53PS & the size of the tank got smaller to look like a 250 rather than a 400. And this particular model yr looks like a Ducati Monster, i know coz Ive had praised of the bike when i drove by. I have owned both a S4 and a Bandit, not an XJR coz I dnt like AIR/OIL Cooled engines bcause of our weather condition here in the PI. The Bandit Im talking about looks like the bike of Sir SiRei. The only thing i like about the S4 is the riding position and stance of the bike, very STANDARD, & comfortable. The Bandit has a semi-sports look because of the handle bar settings. Go try them both out first b4 deciding....
gifunk August 4th, 2004, 12:55 AM Guys,

Till, next time mga bandidos...
whitebear November 18th, 2004, 12:56 AM I've never seen either a bandit 250 nor a bandit 400. I'm considering to buy one and I still have to check it out. The seller says it's a 400. But how will I know that if the sticker that shows you the displacement is already gone and the frame number shows the range of the displacement (250 - 399cc)? :)

250cc Bandit has one front brake disc (on left side), 400cc Bandit has two front brake discs.
You can also look at the back of the engine block (left side)... it has embossed characters displaying "248cc" or "399cc"
just bought a 250cc Bandit myself :)
