Any other ZZR owner there.
we can talk about our bikes here.

i have a question,

i recently changed my rectifier because it was kaput, of burned. Now i have a new one and i am experiencing overheat with my zzr. Is there a connection there, or the problem lies else where?

have you changed your coolant? chances are that's the same coolant as it was used in japan, drain the old coolant & use a 50/50 premix coolant. all the japanese bikes have 100% coolant content which is good for countries that experience winter but it's bad for our tropical weather.

don't forget to flush your cooling system with water before you add the new coolant, Motul has Inugel50 which is a premixed coolant you can use it straight from the bottle or Repsol concentrated coolant & just add water in 50/50 percentage.

Dont forget to check if ur auxilary fan is working. Experienced overheating because of it, just a loose connection :s And yes, ZZR rider here, only 400cc though :s Safe Ride!

Yup it was the fan. maybe when i changed my rectifier and the batt maybe the connection was lost.

anyways for those who would be interested

here is the manual for our bikes
http://www.diff.ru/manual/files/Kawasaki_ZZR600_Service_Repair_Manual.zip

kaya lang pang 600 cc but everything else is the same.

I will be moving to Cagayan de Oro in about 6 months and am interested in a zzr 600 , in the US they are $7299 ... are there any websites of Philippine dealers that carry larger motorcycles and list prices?? I would prefer to buy there as that would avoid shipping costs and import duties...

@ gomer

Pre just check the MCP classifieds when you get here, I'm sure marami kang mapagpipilian.

@bebeng

Experienced ko na lumalagatok ang gearing ng zzr kung masyado mataas ang revs when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. Other than that ok na. I think its because of the design ng gear box natin (hula lang to :R ). Yung ibang zzr owners na nakausap ko ganun din. Kahit high revs from 2nd up, wala nang problema.

sir gilemee thanks for the help, pero as compared to honda super4, malambot yung gears nya, madaling mag change gear..pero sa zz-r, parang you need to exert more effort eh!! and eto pa sir, madali lang ba maintenace ng zz-r? kasi ginagawa ko eh puro tune up lang, hanggang ganun lang..pero aside from that wala nako makita problema, actually gusto ko tindig nya eh! machong macho..malapad at mukhang 600-750cc ang dating sa laki nya....any more tips?

So far tune up lang rin na experience ko sa ZZR, wala pa major repairs (THANK GOD!). I heard na madali malaspag rear monoshock, but I weigh in at 180+ pounds and so far buhay pa naman rear shocks ko. Will post if I encounter any problems with my ZZR and to all the other riders ng ZZR post if u encounter any, para maagapan naman ng ibang riders kung may problema. Safe Ride!

my temp sensor for the fan just gave up on me, but instead of getting a new sensor i just put a switch for the fan, which i think is better coz we live in a hot country, so i switch it immediately upon starting the bike.

Good move :s I did the same thing with my old GPZ 400R. Probly gonna do same thing with my ZZR if the temp sensor gives out.

Just curious, I use my ZZR about once a week. During the 1st 10 to 15 kms she really sounds bad, parang sakal. But after about 15 kms, she's back to normal. Anyone else have this problem? I've never experienced it on my Suzuki, which I also use about once a week.

Hehe no need to rush the answer, will be back on-line on Monday.

sir gilemee.. :o

actually am experiencing this kind of a problem too lalo na pag hindi ko pinapainit yung makina kung nakapagpahinga for a couple of hours! but as soon as tumakbo sya say for like 5-7mins nagiging ok na sya!
and my second question to sir sharky and sir gilemee, pag bagong start yung makina ng zz-r nyo, namamatay ba? i just observed it because my friend has a super4, kahit na malamig sya pag pinaandar nya yung makina, steady sya sa 500rpm na hindi namamatay! what could be the cause?! any possible answer or solution? or ganun talaga......any feedback would be appreciated.... :bouncy:

I don't mean to hi-jack the thread , but i was told that the ZZR and ZL400A (Eliminator 400cc) have the same engine, an in-line engine.

Now i normally bring my bike for servicing at Maysilo Mandaluyong bike shop (not really a bike shop but a set up where there is a good big bike mechanich)

now my problem is i would just like to have my sparkplugs change without having to open up my engine (kasi matino naman ang mga jet ko) , the shop at maysilo does not have a vacuum to clean the plugs before removal(to remove debris so they don't fall into the engine whne the plugs are removed)

Can you help out on this?

gilemee
July 29th, 2005, 08:25 AM
I'm not familiar with the Eliminator, but if they have the same engine as the ZZR I dont think they have to open the engine to change the spark plugs. They just have to remove the gas tank and air box (for the ZZR) to reach the plugs. Plugs are located near the front end. We dont have a vacuum at the shop but we have a compressor. So i have them spray the area with air before opening the plugs. Hope this helps. Safe Ride!

Who has experience removing the front tire of our ZZR?

At first i had a problem, coz i didn't have a 12mm size allen wrench. now I was able to borrow, I still cant take the pin out.

I have a manual and i followed all the instructuins there. ayaw pa din eh.

Well anyway, if everything fails dalhin ko na sa marunong na talaga

Sorry sharky but its been a long time since I took out my front wheel, but I seem to recall that you need at least 2 12mm allen wrenches (pang contra). Everything else is pretty basic. Safe Ride!

Yup you need a 12mm allenwrench. I had to borrow one, thanks nga pala kay ed pascual for letting me borrow his. anyways dinala ko rin kay Bobot, nahirapan din sila sa pag tanggal, sobrang higpit lang talaga. after a few hammers and a long steel pipe, bumigay din.

Using STP Carb Cleaner on my bike chains, so far the results are fantastic. Dirt and grime just falls off. Just want to ask if anyone else uses carb cleaner for their chains and are there any bad side effects?

Mga Bossing, ' just acquired a ZZR 400 only last week, tanong ko lang po kung saan may nag rerepair ng fairings, medyo may mga lamat na po kasi ung ibang area particular yung sa may mukha nya, also, malabo na po ang wind shield and gusto ko rin pong palitan yung left and right front signal lights, any idea how much these cost and where is the nearest outlet since I live in Tagig area, Sa initial start up, namamatay din po sya, but I was told by the previous owner to just adjust the small knob right below the tank, ngayon po di na po sya namamatay, but the rpm is a little below 1000, ok lang po ba 'to ? ' Sensiya na po ang dami kong mga tanong, TIA

gilemee

I had the fairings for my old GPZ and Gilera repaired at North American Motors (BF Paranaque). I think you'll have to replace your windshield kung talagang sobrang malabo na, probably Caloocan Sales has the parts (including the signal light, not sure of the price though). Safe Ride!

I would prefer the zzr for long rides, it is a sport touring bike kaya hindi sya masyado naka subsob. for me its the best riding position, not too upright no too subsob.
