Since the ridiculous number-on-your-helmet scheme I have had at the back of my mind something I read somewhere. Finally I found it in a study done by the University of Southern California on the usage and care of helmets:

Quote" --Definitely read the instructions about painting, decorating, pinstriping, or applying decals to your helmet. Some thermoplastic or polycarbonate helmet compositions can be adversely affected by applying paint or decals --"unquote

In other words you may adversely affect the quality of your helmet's protection by painting stuff on it..

Might make a good legal defence if someone was prepared to go the distance........

Once again proof that the dumbos who lay claim to governing us with knee-jerk legislation have done no research and don't know their asses from their elbows.

Another subject: one poster asked about Snell helmets. "Snell" isn't actually a brand, it is a set of standards like DOT that a helmet has achieved. So if you buy a helmet with a Snell sticker you are getting the best possible protection to US standards rather than that Taiwanese piss-pot thing.

i agree! i started the thread "STICKER a NO-NO to ZEUS Helmet" because as i would like to put a tiny sticker on my helmet, i then read the manual and found out that painting and putting a sticker is not allowed on my helmet because of some chemical from the paint or adhesive thing from the sticker.

if they (local govt.) want us to put sticker as an identification for our beloved helmet, they should know about these info on our helmet.

They don't care if you get your face smashed to pulp because you are not allowed to wear a full face helmet. Why would they care if your helmet is damaged by paint or stickers?

This is not fair if thats the case.... its definitely a fact now because they are making it happen right infront of our face. God...Aren't we gonna do something about this? :g

zeus helmets have polycarbonate composition the manual says so and it also states that stickers, paint and any petroleum based liquids may damage the polycarbonate shell.

will the government of marikina willing to pay for any damages done by their ordinance?

we've done something last june 10. some biker clubs and individuals proceeded to marikina after the rally at q.c...i think it needs some follow-up.

I notice that there is a small rubber edging at the lower part of the helmet. Why don't we paint / put sticker on that part. It won't harm the helmet overall, and still follow the rules. Let's see them try to read the plate number of the MC from there. Those s****d a******s :I

Snell is only a rating for the helmet. DOT means it is only approved for about 10 MPH. If you go to the Snell rated helmet, you can hit your head at 14 MPH and you may be OK. So you are safe as long as you are just sitting still on the bike and fall off.

All the helmet laws are crap. They say you have to wear them and they have to have a certain rating. Yet they won't tell you which is really on the approved list. If they publish a list of "safe" helmets and someone dies, they will be sued.

I have been involved in a bike wreck and I am glad I did not have on a helmet. I hit my head first and it probably would have bounced my head back and injured my neck. I would rather have the road rash. Any high speed collision you are gone even if you are wearing a helmet.

Don't get me wrong I am not against helmets. I am just for the choice to be mine and not someone who has never been on a bike.

Just my 2 cents, thank for letting me ramble on. :*

 This must have been a direct result of your ordeal. you should consider yourself lucky for not having a head injury. Although I don't agree with your views about helmets, everybody is entitled to their own opinion... MCP is here to educate and promote motorcycle safety, one of the basic creed for safety is the proper use of a helmet. anyway, try reading Motorcycle Safety, Skills and Training section, you might just learn something from it. ciao!:*

Why don't you just buy a helmet with the graphics already on?
