It's been over 3 years me and my trusty lid...3 years of rain, sun, dust, finger prints and the list goes on.
I regularly wash my lid and paid little attention to the shield and simply soaped & wipe 'em dry and maybe apply RainX once in a while. Today as I assembled by helmet I decided to treat my shield to something extra.
A polish!!!---I used a 3M Plastic Polish which I bought for polishing badly scratched optical disk(e.g. LD, CD, DVD). I also use the polish for my plastic headlight covers, signal & brake light covers.
Note that I used this on a lexan shield so do try this on a small spot on your shield first just "in case". In case you shields are "sensitive" as I've seen on some known brands which peel or react violently to chemicals not to mention extreme local climate.
After 10 minutes of Karate Kid moves(wipe on, wipe off)---VOILA!!!
No it doesn't remove deep scratches but it restored the optics of my shields just like when I got them. :8
