I was on my way to Barasoain Church when this traffic police made me pull over because I wasn't wearing a helmet. My ride was just given to me by my dad a few days before the incident... Anyway, the traffic police asked for my license; i gave it to him (I should've just bribed him!), he gave me a ticket and told me that I shouldn't ride without wearing a helmet... blah... blah... blah... City ordinance... blah... blah... So I bought an INDEX Full face Helmet (which cost me P1550) on my way home to avoid another "pull-over" incident.

Now, I'm kinda worried if I bought a "safe" helmet because INDEX looks like a pirated SHOEI... Is INDEX a rip-off? If so, what brand and style of helmet would you guys suggest?

BTW, have you seen the new Close-up ad? You know, the guy riding a scooter (vespa ata) tapos he was wearing this open faced helmet... do you know where can I get that kind (style) of helmet?

Bro ok naman yang index helmet madaming gumagamit nyan. pumunta ka sa exceed sa may caloocan area dun maraming klaseng helmet na full face or open face.

sana nag ZEUS 990 ka na lang for a cheap price of 1,800. DOT and SNELL certified pa.

meron. ZEUS 202D if im not mistaken. pero mahal sya konti, i gez it will cost you 2,200 pero DOT and ECE certified naman sya.

Anyway RE sa tanong mo. Yung Index brand of helmet ok naman siya. Basta (yun nga) siguradong DOT approved (at least), 'snug fit' siya (yung hindi maluwang at masikip at dapat comfortable siya), para narin kasi sa safety mo. Meron kasing helmet na maluwang.

In my case yung pinaka-snug fit na brand sa akin is yung HJC brand na full-face helmet. Yung Index (maluwang) at Zeus (medyo maluwang) ang fit sa akin. I'm medium size (57 to 58cm.). I think iba-iba kasi siguro ang shape ng head circumference natin kaya ganon. Kaya the best choice para sa akin is HJC helmets, kasi comfortable, affordable, at durable siya.

btw, don't forget to check your chin strap na properly fastened siya, para narin sa safety natin. Minsan kasi naka suot nga ang helmet pero hindi properly fastened (maluwag), or hindi totally naka-fastened.

Gamit ko sya rarely for only two months and pansin ko talaga lumuwang sya. Pero hindi naman sobrang luwang, medyo luwang lang na sana hindi na lalo pang lumuwang, hehehe. Tipong ganun.

Pero, for the topic question YUP! YUP! YUP! OK na OK yung INDEX helmet, siguro 40% of the riders here in Zamboanga City naka INDEX. Pero mostly naka open-face off-road type helmets, yung kasi yung "in" dito sa Zambo. Nakakawonder talaga 'to kasi naka-underboned around 90% ng mga riders dito and we're using dirt bike mets. Kakahawa talaga yung trend!

ok lang naman index pero un nga,sabi ng nakakarami,may down side agad within a few months....if u can afford to by signature helmets (w/c is tested talaga) much better....and one more thing,close-face helmets is so much better than other type of helmets...full head protection is guaranteed....when u buy a helmet,think of the protection it will give yah,not the additonal "pogi point" or "look cool" image....ryt!! :punk: :C

Yes index, lumuluwang even after 3 weeks lng, pero safe sya! here is my story...

I own a XRM110, and i am a Skateboarder so kahit sa XRM i also push my limits by doing crazy tricks and stunts sa XRM. kahit nyung mga stunts na pang Sport Bikes lng, ginagawa ko. I can even stand on my seat, no hands, while the motorcycle is running.

back then i was still practicing a trick, it is when you slide your both feet on the left side of the Bike while maintaining a terminal speed, at hindi ka na nakaupo sa bike. Pang Sports Bike lng toh raw, so i tried. Nagagawa ko naman sya sa Basketbal court and sa Asphalt. never tried sa Cement road. so just outside our School La Salle Dasma, sumakay tropa ko sa jeep at ako naman, sumusunod. Sabi ng tropa ko, "TRICKS" so i tried... sinubukan ko muna yung road, nagalinlangan agad ako kasi rough, pero gusto ko talagang gawin. so tinuloy ko...

ayun, nagawa ko around 10 secs then pabalik na ako sa seat ko, di na ako makabalik kasi nag increase yung speed, from my terminal speed 40kph to 60kph, sa sobrang concentrate ko dun sa slide ko, hindi ko napansin yung throttle. so niliko ko ng kaunti sa left yung bike para saluhin na lng ako, pero hindi parin talaga ako makaupo sa seat ko, then ayun bumanga ako sa island sa gitna, MAY BAKAL NA FENCE PA, nauna HEAD ko buti naka helmey ako. sabi ko sau, APAT na METAL ANGLE BARS ANG NAYUPI KO at DALAWA NAPUTOL KO, MAking it 6 BARS, ang yung INDEX helmet ko GALOS LNG DAHIL SA BAKAL, no CRACKS. Nagulat mga tropa ko, dapat bababa sila ng jeep pero tumayo ako agad!!! walang sakit sa ulo ko, just yung katawan ko, at yung pride ko... Alis naman ako agad, kasi baka pagbayarin pa ko sa munisipyo dun sa na damage kong fence....

Kaya i kept my helmet as souvenir, nilagyan kong ng sticker "6 BARS"... im using a new helmet now, pero index pa rin...

@sir forbiddensmoke saan niyo nabili yung index na helmet, sa ACT ba? ok na rin yung index na helmet, ok din yung style nila para sa akin. diyan sa malolos talagang maraming nanghuhuli ngayon, kami nga ng pinsan ko nahuli dahil wala kaming helmet ang sabi sa amin nung enforcer para sa kaligtasan din daw ng mga nag-momotor yung ginagawa nila dahil pag may aksidente, minsan putok yung ulo ng rider kasi walang suot na helmet. na hassle lang kami pero ok lang din naman. may nabalitaan ako sa pinsan ko last week lang sa hagonoy, may dio scooter na nakaladkad ng truck, yung driver nasa hospital dahil may suot na helmet yung backrider naman, :l basag yung ulo syempre patay dahil walang suot na helmet.

@sir kage taga dasma ako sa windward lapit lang sa la salle baka makita ko minsan yung nabangga niyo na fence... :D

by the way... OK ba magpasetup ng looks ng motor sa ACT? OK po ba yun shop na un?

sir forbidden okay na okay yung shop ng ACT . kung nouvo yung ride niyo, hindi ko lang alam kung may parts na sila na pang-modify ng nouvo, pero sa mga honda xrm, scooters, etc marami silang pang-modify ng looks and marami sila tinda na parts and accesories. mabait at magaling din yung mga mechanic nila dun sa likod sila kuya jeff at kuya tony hindi tulad nung ibang mechanic na nanloloko at sobrang mahal ng singil kaya maraming nagmo-motor na nagpapa-repair or nagpapa-modify sa kanila. madalas kami dati sa ACT kaya lang lumipat na kami dito sa cavite pero pag na-uwi ako ng bulacan sa kanila ako nagtatanong tungkol sa motor namin. kung may tanong kayo or gusto ipalagay sa sa motor niyo punta lang kaya dun. :D
