I can't call this Frequently asked Questions because some have only been asked once but have shown the need to clarify some things. I will add more as questions arise. We really need your feedback and questions to ensure the Federation is what you want it to be.

Q. Is The Motorcycle Philippines Federation an extension of Motorcycle Philippines?

A. Not at all. Motorcycle Philippines plays a large part in all the organizations involved so it made sense for Motorcycle Philippines to be the official web site of the Federation. When the idea of forming the federation and using Motorcycle Philippines as the web site was suggested to me it didn't take long to realize how we can all gain from it so within 24 hours I agreed and we got things moving.

Q. Is the Federation part of Motorcycle Philippines?

A. No, the opposite is true. Motorcycle Philippines is just part of the Federation. It may be the most visible part, especially to people who use the site but it is only a part. Motorcycle Philippines is the official web site, the PSF handles membership and events, MAP handles riders rights, the NRA and MRC handle racing, education and supply much needed expertise while others work on government affairs, merchandizing, events, sponsorship, etc

Q. Was the federation formed to make money?

A. Yes and No. For years the PSF, MAP and Motorcycle Philippines have been funded mostly by individuals who have invested huge amounts of time and money. These same groups also have problems in handling the workload. By forming the Federation each member of the group does what they are best at for the Federation. The result is much greater efficiency for all. The combined membership of the organizations involved is huge and so is very attractive to sponsors. Previous events organized by the PSF and/or Motorcycle Philippines have been big and successful. Future events will be even bigger. This means sponsors will be much more willing to get involved so the riders get far more (t-shirts, meals, gas, etc) and the cost of the event is covered.

Q. How can you do all this without membership fees?

A. Thousands of members mean good value for sponsors. Within the first week the money being offered by sponsors for our Bicol Jamboree was far greater than ever before. We expect not just the cost of events to be covered by sponsorship but also the costs of running the Federation.

Q. Will members pay for anything and what will they get?

A. Initially members get the benefits of a very large organization run by experienced people with proven track records rather than elected members who may or may not be good at the job. There will be more events and much bigger events and at those events there will be many more free sponsor's t-shirts, free meals, free gas, etc, etc than ever before. We are setting up a merchandizing department and very soon many products will be on sale. These will include t-shirts, mugs, pens, keyrings, umbrellas, caps, patches, etc. Members can buy these if they want to and a small part of each sale will go to help cover costs of the Federation. We may also offer this service (manufacturing and selling) to other clubs and federations and may also introduce Membership/discount cards that members may pay for if they want them, if we don't get a sponsor to pay for them.

Q. Why form another Federation when we already have the National Federation, The Southern Luzon Federation, the Rizal Federation, the PSF, The federations in Visayas and Mindanao, the LMFI, etc?

A. None of the existing federations do the same as we are doing. Most are confined to a region or part of a region, some are for a certain type or size of bike, some for certain types of bike use, etc. The National Federation is the only one countrywide but by choice organizes one event, the national convention, each year. All of these federations, associations, etc are doing what they know best and we hope they all continue.

The Motorcycle Philippines Federation's objective is to help all of them all by supporting and promoting their events and objectives. We hope to be able to call on the different federations, associations and clubs for their expertise on big bikes, small bikes, events, local knowledge, help with our events, etc while of course we help them in every way we can. Even simple things like avoiding multiple major events on the same day can be reduced and riders travelling anywhere, anytime, all over the country will have people they can contact for help or just for fellowship.

It may sound like a dream come true but it is already succeeding.

:C This is a very substantial and fruitfull federation. But the officers of all motorcycle clubs are the authorities on this matter. Their sincerity in running the club is a good tool in promoting the welfare of all members. Maybe the Motorcycle Federation of the Philippines should convine all club presidents to discuss the details to how their clubs will benefit in supporting the federation. (An IMHO only). ;)

Obviously we are completely open to suggestions from any and all clubs or individuals but the basic idea is very simple. Every club gets to take advantage of the federation to promote their events, get help in just about any area of motorcycling, make friends with bikers all over the Philippines and overseas, etc. In short, just help and support each other while respecting each other's differences where they exist.

As long as we keep it simple and respect different bikers views we don't need committees or to hold meetings to decide what to do. There may be times when we want to take a vote on the position of the Federation. Those who lose such a vote may not want to support the majority decision and their opinion should be respected as long as they don't work against the majority.

We want to avoid politics and infighting. That is the reason it is set up as a business and not as an organization with an elected committee. An organization this size with elected officials would almost certainly self destruct within a year or two. We don't expect any club or federation to change to suit what we might believe so other than helping us with their support of the community we ask nothing of the clubs or federations.

As I understand a federation is a union of organizations. If this would be setup like a business what is the format or physical structure of the federation? Do the clubs needs to apply or file their memberships so as to be recognized as part of the MCPF?

Pardon me Frank, since that this federation will not elect any officers, so there will be no by-laws.

The clubs may come and go. As long as the bikers respect the co-bikers and make friends.

Sounds virtual if the federation could not established solid projects that will serve as legacy in the future motorcyclists. :C

Politics are not bad as long as only good people involved.

It is really just the same as the way Motorcycle Philippines and the Philippine Scooter Federation are run. These two are the biggest and most successful in the country so obviously it works.

All federations/clubs and members will be welcome at all events but of course those who are registered will be given priority when there are any limits on the benefits. It is likely that at some events there will not be enough freebies for every rider so we will have to try to organize it so registered members/clubs are the priority. Those who registered will be informed or invited directly and when there are opportunities (maybe film and commercial shoots, parades, etc) those who registered will be asked first. When we plan events we will use the database as a guide to the type and numbers of riders and bikes.

We need the contact numbers and emails for us to keep people informed and so that anyone, anywhere can contact bikers in any other region. The numbers of registered members/clubs will be used to show potential sponsors who in turn will pay for the events and the freebies the bikers will get.

Like I said, we do not intend to influence any other club or federation other than to ask their support. Just like Motorcycle Philippines there may be some simple rules and guidlines for the benefit of all but they would be mostly just common sense. I can only think of one thing I would say is a by law or rule - "NO discrimination against other riders or bike types. Let each enjoy his chosen style in his own way without causing problems for others."

Solid projects are already well under way with the Jamboree in Bicol and later the Jamboree in Subic. We are working on many other things. Some of which are already on the Events page. More organizations are asking to be involved and I will be making more announcements on these very soon.

You say "Politics are not bad as long as only good people involved" and I agree but there simply are not enough good people who are prepared to do the work which brings us back full circle to the reason the federation was formed in the first place.

i have a question sir frank.

i've registered online but after a week haven't receive an acknowledgment yet from mcpf, do you send an acknowledgment receipt?

Currently we don't send an acknowledgement when clubs or members register other than the on-line confirmation when you submit the form.

We are averaging hundreds of clubs and riders signing up every day but the server sends a copy to me, a copy to Jojo, a copy to the MCPF secretary who is building the offline database and just to be even more sure the software builds its own simple database on the server so you can be sure that once you hit that submit button your entry will not get lost :D

Maybe we can send out a confirmation email to all who have email addresses after the initial rush slows down and they are all in the database.

We can also work on pages for the web site listing members clubs and email addresses etc.
