Halos dalawang HJC na ang mabibili mo sa presyo ng isang helmet na AGV.

I have both helmets. Aside from the obvious price difference, the CL14 is lighter but i like the fit and comfort of the GP1.

... and also, for posers like me, iba pa rin and dating ng Italian-made, hehe.

HJC is originally Korean based! :bouncy:

but for me, if price is not a concern, i'll go for AGV! ok rin other brands like ARAI, SHOEI, Suomy (italian made rin). but HJC is still a good buy kc maporma na, comfty rin & DOT & SMF approve pa!

thanks for ur comments guys, pero nagdadalawang isip kse ko sa HJC may mga negative feedbacks (sorry to HJC users)a friend of mine used HJC in BRC crashes(highside)tpos kita nmen na un helmet nya may crack agad(mga 2inches)...i was wondering bka ganun din ang shell ng agv...mag HJC na lng ako...pero kng mas matigas shell ng AGV sa AGV ako...ano kya..... :S

Marlboro,
I hope your friend is alright after the crash.
As far as the shell of the helmet cracking after a high side, I would like to believe that the HJC Helmet did its job. The helmet shell is supposed to crack while absorbing the impact on the tarmac. If the shell of the helmet didn't crack that would lead to a really really bad jolt to the head. Besides helmets are only as good their first crash or when they start to deteriorate anyway.

Both HJC and AGV's are good helmets, I've owned both. I had an AGV Demon Top a couple of years back and I must say it is one of the lightest helmets, and coolest, I've ever worn. I now use an HJC CL-14 and the weight is slightly heavier than the Demon Top but negligible, really.

Take your pick, both are excellent brands.

Btw, all HJC's are made in Korea.

ganun tlaga ang helmet, to crack ang tendecy pag nag crash. kse pag matigas ang shell baka skull ang mag crash. ask sir Growler.

parts for hjc helmets are more cheaper and more widely available....

also HJC's seem to be more adapt to our country's climate rather than the italian lids, for instance, some italian helemts visors suffer from chapping of its scratch resist coating...

HJC Pa rin.....

I understand this guy's attitude. My first helmet was a no-name, one size fits all thing. I wandered into Triumph in West Ave. with a friend and impulsively we both bought HJC CL-12's without asking anybody's opinion or doing any research. After that, we went on a ride to Antipolo. We were very happy with the purchase, great visibility and it keeps out the noise. Fast forward two years later, I was getting tired of my HJC CL-12 and decided to purchase a European branded helmet (NOT AGV ha). I sold my CL-12 but I missed it as soon as I sold it. The scratch resistant coating of my new helmet peeled away, it was a hassle to get everything off! Yes the new helmet was lighter than the CL-12, it looked better too. Anyways, after three months, I bought a new CL-14. :banana: :banana:
Yes, with 8k, I will buy a CL-14 and a half-face HJC pa rin.

nakakatakot kapag nagcrack ang helmet -- too bad that hjc had that situation. haven't heard that happen in an agv helmet.
kaya siguro mas mahal ang agv -- the materials may be a little more superior than hjc.

act2000, that's how good helmets react to impact... ganun talaga... according to my helmet's manual,"The helmet is designed to absorb shock by means of partial destruction of the shell"

Meron akong nabasa na thread RE helmets. Dito rin sa MCP. Sabi kaya pala nababasag or crack ang helmet after na impact kasi ganun ang design niya. Ibig sabihin na meet ang purspose w/c is to PROTECT our head. Kung hindi daw nabasag ang helmet after ng accident e ANG BUNGO NATIN ANG MABABASAG.

Tiwala parin ako sa HJC. Isipin nalang natin na ginagamit ng mga popular na riders sa America (AFAIK).

dapat kasi pag nag-crash ka, regardless of what helmet you wear kahit ARAI pa yan, pinapalitan na yung helmet. sometimes the effect of the impact is not seen on the helmet pero no-good na siya.
you speak of the AGV's lining but have you experienced the face shield peeling-off? i've had three HJC's but this never happened to me. kahit na may budget ako, i still know what i'll buy.

totoo yan, seangreen. italian lids do have crappy face shields (i've owned 2 agv's and both shields peeled after a few months).

one way around it is to STEAM the lens. you'll notice the coating will peel off the shield. you can squeegee it back on slowly or peel off the coating if it's scratched beyond repair to begin with.

hope this helps.

I encountered my first spill at Nasugbu last November I was speeding at 220kmh when i crashed....my head hit the ground first and luckily I was wearing AGV Kinetic Bulldog helmet...one advantage ng AGV is kapag nag hit ka sa pavement the visor automatically ejects preventing the lids from breaking into pieces which could be fatal to your eyes. Subok ko na yan based on my experience...hndi nga naalog ung utak ko eh... ;)

i experienced this on my Caberg Brutus but i learned how to deal with it from AGV helmet owners. i actually read about this that's why i chose to buy the Caberg over the AGV GP-1. but the same thing happened nevertheless.

@wasp,

@Marlboro,
i bought an smoke HJC shield for my half-face, it was around 650 pesos.

nope. i used to have a Q-3 (or whatever that Q-designated model was) but after the shield peeled, i returned it and got an X-Vent, thinking the visor would be better. same thing. it peeled after a few weeks so i had to steam it again. now the visor is full of scratches from flying rocks and debris (from rainy days, long rides and the occasional karting sessions) so it's time to replace it. sad thing is the face shields cost more than 2 grand! :{

seangreen

that's right, it's not the tint that peels off, it's something similar to glad wrap but when you try to 'peel' it off, it disintegrates into silver flakes!

Interesting Thread. I once dropped my (HJC) helmet sitting on my seat. It was about 2 weeks old. I was told to replace it right away because the drop could have caused minute cracks which affects the helmet's 'strength' during impact. Is this true? Btw, still wearing it up to now. It's been 3 years since the time I dropped it... :rolleyes:

Hmmm, If I'm not mistaken, a poll was made a couple of months back and yes, HJC is the helmet of choice for MCP forum members...

I'm very happy with my HJCs. Bang-for-the-buck its a great helmet. My only complaint is, medyo maselang ang shield ng HJC, ewan ko lang sa AGV but I take extra care of my shield because it scratches so easily. I'm a little sensitive with scratches coz if the scratch is in my line of sight it's annoying so, I change the shield right away... :C
